The Autumn Beauty Edit

Posted on November 17, 2015

Hi Guys!

I’m not sure where the year has gone but somehow it’s already mid November. We’re in the full swing of autumn, and over recent weeks I’ve noticed the makeup products I’ve been reaching for have gradually been changing. This wasn’t a conscious decision at all. I’ve just recently noticed the colours in my makeup bag have definitely changed with the season.

So I thought I’d gather together some of my current favourite seasonal shades to show you, some are old favourites, and some are brand new discoveries which I love. Enjoy!

Firstly, let’s look at the lipsticks! I just love autumnal browns, pinks and mauves. These shades of lipstick can easily take your look from summer to autumn with just one product. Here are some of my favourites –

  • Illamasqua Glamore Lipstick in Kin. This beautiful shade is from the Earth collection, it’s an intense burnt red shade that reminds me of autumn leaves. I really need to pick up more Illamasqua lipsticks because the formula really is excellent, you get fantastic pigmentation with a long-lasting smooth satin finish.
  • Tom Ford Lips & Boys in Guillermo – Ahh Tom Ford, the king of lipsticks. Guillermo is one of the shades I picked up when the Lips & Boys collection first launched, and it’s just beautiful. I love wearing this with a full on smokey eye for an evening vampy look.
  • MAC Lipstick in Fast Play – I love this shade so much, it’s completely underrated in my opinion. I actually discovered it when I was searching for the perfect lip shade to wear to my wedding. You can see my original post here for more pics.
  • – Clarins’ Jolie Rouge lipsticks have a beatufilly creamy and silky formula, with a semi sheer finish. Tea Rose is a pretty light pink that’s really easy to wear. This is a fantastic go-to everyday lipstick.

Next I have a selection of pencils, including three eyeliners and a lipliner…

  • – I actually received this mini eyeliner free with a Sephora order a while ago, and I’ve been in love with it ever since. Grey is a fantastic alternative to black eyeliner for a softer look, and Urban Decay’s Glide on Pencils are some of the best around.
  • – Ever since visiting the Pixi store in London for an event a few months ago, I’ve been loving their products and picked up a few more of their amazing Silky Eye Pens. The shade Deep Plum is a lovely shade that catches the light beautifully giving a hint of metallic purple.
  • Kiko Colour Definition Eyeliner in 02 – If you’re a regular reader you’ll know I love Kiko products, and this beautiful and unusual shade of eyeliner is from the Rebel Romantic collection. Shade 02 is a deep warm brown, with the tiniest hint of reddish purple. It’s a creamy matte shade that’s perfect for wearing every day.
  • Borneo is a lovely warm lipliner which I’ve found myself reaching for lately. It has creamy formula that perfectly defines the lips while preventing lipstick from bleeding and feathering throughout the day.

And a couple more beautiful lip colours…

  • – This is my first and only Kat Von D product, and I’m a little bit in love. Lolita is a stunning mauve that’s perfect for the 90’s lip trend that’s so popular at the moment, and it really is ever lasting! Make sure your lips are well prepared before application and this will literally last all day.
  • – Another recent discovery, the Urban Decay High Colour Lipglosses really give fantastic intense pigmentation for a gloss. The shade Liar is a gorgeous muted mid pink. It’s currently living in my bag as I wear it all the time!

And lastly the beautiful  –

I haven’t used Eye of Horus products for a while, but I have a few of their eyeliner pencils which are fantastic, so I was excited to see what their brand new eyeshadow palettes were like. And as expected, I wasn’t disappointed!

The gorgeous Mystical Goddess Eyeshadow Palette contains three intense metallic shades in a slimline cardboard palette with a double ended brush. The shades are: Artifact – ivory with golden nude undertones, Enchantress – bronzed shimmering nude and Royal Abyss – a deep royal plum.

They all have a stunning high metallic finish, and are soft, blendable and easy to work with. They can also be applied wet if you wish for a more intense look. I really am very impressed with this palette, I’ll be getting a lot of use out of it over the coming months no doubt!

I’d love to hear if you have any of these products? And what your go-to beauty products are for autumn?

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Urban Decay Vice 4 Palette

Posted on November 12, 2015

Hi Guys!

I’ve been having so much fun playing with the new Urban Decay Vice 4 Palette lately, isn’t it a beauty! Vice 4 contains 20 brand new and never seen before eyeshadow shades, in a massive range of colours and finishes, as well as a double ended brush and a matching pouch / bag.

The palette is just stunning to look at, it has a fantastic iridescent pattern on the lid which makes me think of broken glass (and also, strangely Spider Man!) – but not surprisingly, the design and theme of the palette were inspired by vintage UD shade Oil Slick, which really needs no explanation. The palette is sturdy, and very high quality as you’d expect from Urban Decay.

And look at the shadows! Aren’t they gorgeous! This palette has a fantastic mix of bright, bold and out-there shades, with neutral nudes and darker shades included too, which are perfect for a smoky eye. There’s also a range of finishes, from matte, to satin to metallic. Many shades are packed full of micro glitter too – this is definitely the perfect palette to create party looks with over the Christmas season!

Let’s go straight in and look at the swatches…

First row L – R –

  • Bones – oyster satin with pearl
  • Grip – taupe matte with iridescent micro glitter
  • Deadbeat – black satin with iridescent micro glitter
  • Beat Down – deep metallic violet with blue micro glitter
  • Pandemonium – metallic plum with iridescent micro glitter

I’m in love with Beat Down and Pandemonium from the first row, they’re both gorgeous deep metallic shades which apply beautifully. I tried out a little smoky eye look with them half expecting it not to suit me, but in fact these colours are surprisingly easy to wear, and I was really pleased with the result.

Second row –

  • Framed – light neutral matte satin
  • Fast-Ball – metallic peachy pink with pink micro glitter
  • 1985 – metallic fuchsia with micro glitter
  • Underhand – burgundy-brown satin
  • Harlot – metallic lavender

The second row contains more pinky tones, with 1984 being one of my favourites. It’s a bright fuchsia shade with a beautiful metallic shine, my photos really don’t do it justice. I know some of these shades aren’t going to be to everyones taste, but just think of all the looks you could experiment with! Unfortunately Framed didn’t show up too well for me though, apart from the fact that it’s similar to my skin tone, this one didn’t seem to apply as well as the others.

Third row –

  • Discreet – soft dusty mauve matte
  • Grasshopper – metallic emerald green micro glitter
  • C-Note – frosted green with micro glitter
  • Arctic – bright teal with tonal sparkle
  • Robbery – deep metallic brown-gunmetal

I think the third row of shadows has to be my favourite. It contains three stunning aqua shades, from the intense emerald green of Grasshopper, to the bright sky blue shade of Arctic, these shades all have a high shimmer metallic finish, with micro glitters to give an extra level of sparkle. Robbery though, is just beautiful, it’s a warm silver taupe, again with a metallic finish. I can see myself reaching for this shade a lot.

Fourth row –

  • Bitter – reddish brown matte
  • Flame – bright orange with gold micro glitter
  • Low – brown matte with iridescent micro glitter
  • Crowbar – black with golden metallic pearl and micro glitter
  • Delete – deep chestnut brown matte satin

And the last row has a warmer feel to it. Flame is a stunning peachy orange shade packed full of micro glitter, and Delete is an intense deep brown matte shade with amazing pigmentation.

What I love overall about this palette, is the possibilities. There are so many different shades and finishes, you could pretty much create an unlimited amount of looks with them. And apart from the odd one, the eyeshadows in this palette really are fantastic  – Vice 4 is a must have for anyone that loves to get creative with their makeup!

And just to top it off, this fantastic palette comes with a matching zipped pouch, with the same iridescent pattern as the palette. This is perfect to store the palette in to protect it from damage, or as a mini makeup bag.

And lastly just in case you hadn’t heard, UD are also releasing a special collaboration palette with the one and only Gwen Stefani! I’m so excited for this! I love UD and I love Gwen – she was one of my style icons growing up in the 90’s, so this is just the perfect combo for me. The Gewn Stefani palette will be released at the end of November.

Th Vice 4 palette is available now for £43.00 from Urban Decay.

Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipsticks

Posted on September 8, 2015

Hi Guys!

I know we’re not officially in Autumn just yet (I’m pretty sure it starts on the 23rd?) but the weather here has just taken a turn for the worse – cue cold winds, clouds, drizzle and general dullness. So rather aptly I have some distinctly Autumnal lipstick shades to share with you today.

Urban Decay have recently launched their Matte Revolution lipsticks, which come in a gorgeous array of nine intense, deep and highly pigmented seasonal hues…

If you’re a fan of matte lipsticks like I am, you’ll know they’re usually pretty drying on the lips, and if your lips aren’t in tip-top condition before application, then you’re going to end up with a really uneven finish, with any dry areas being highlighted by the lipstick. I suffer with particularly dry lips so this is always an issue for me and I have to work extra hard to prepare my lips so I get the best finish possible.

Urban Decay’s Mate Revolution Lipsticks are just fabulous though, they have to be one of the creamiest mattes I’ve ever tried. The formula glides on the lips with ease, it’s comfortable to wear and completely non-drying. The finished effect is an even layer velvety matte colour, with amazing pigmentation that lasts for hours without taking the moisture out if your lips.

Left to right –

  • Blackmail – this looks pretty much black in the tube, but it’s actually a super deep and rich burgundy / wine shade. It brings back memories of a ‘Black Cherry’ shade of lipstick I had in the early 90’s.
  • 1993 – this is a very ‘on-trend’ lip shade, very 90’s, very Kylie Jenner. This is the perfect muted brown shade for a nude lip that packs a punch.
  • After Dark – a gorgeous mid berry pink, with a hint of violet shimmer.
  • Tilt – the brightest coral / orange shade I’ve probably ever seen. This colour is not for the faint hearted!

These lipsticks just ooze quality – from the classic Urban Decay metallic purple box, to the black gloss and purple tube they come housed in. The lipsticks themselves are also pretty weighty – I’m just beyond impressed.

And of course the swatches! You can see the lipstick applies really cleanly and evenly, and they’re just lovely to use and wear. I have no complaints about these lipsticks whatsoever! If you’re a fan of a matte lip, you NEED to try these out, I really can’t recommend them enough.

Urban Decay’s Matte Revolution Lipsticks are £15.50 each, available now from Urban Decay.

So what do you think? I’d love to hear your thoughts! I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette + Giveaway!

Posted on August 10, 2015

Hi Guys!

Well Urban Decay have done it again, finally bringing out the latest addition to their Naked range – the much anticipated .

Now this literally has everything I look for in a palette – it includes 12 smoky neutral eyeshadows, with nine never-before-seen shades and three exclusives. The colours range of light to very dark, in matte, shimmer and satin finishes. As well as a double ended brush, full size internal mirror, and even instructions on how to create different looks. It literally contains everything you need to put together a multitude of smoky day and night eyeshadow looks.

urban-decay-naked-smoky-case urban-decay-naked-smoky-packaging

And the packaging is just EVERYTHING. In my opinion this is easily the best Urban Decay have come up with so far. It’s so unusual, and pretty yet mysterious – the smoky effect on the lid of the case and the metallic, raised lettering really gives the palette a luxury, high end feel.

The palette also features a magnetic closure to prevent shadow mishaps, as well as a much appreciated full-size mirror. If you’re not so confident at creating a smoky eye, there’s also a really handy detailed look book included, which breaks down four fantastic ways to get Naked and Smoky! Urban Decay gives you step-by-step instructions for their Iconic UD Smoky Eye, the Smoky Reality Star, the Smoky Cat and Everyday Smoky looks.

Also, Urban Decay have included a pretty decent brush too! This double ended brush includes two firm yet flexible heads; the Tapered Crease Brush is perfect to lay down shadow, define the crease or blend out colour. And the Smoky Smudger Brush is great for smudging in shadow and liner, or even highlighting the brow bone.

An just look at the shades! I must admit it was love at first sight for me. I love that this palette has such a variety of shades and finishes, to suit all skin tones and looks. I think anyone and everyone would be able to get use out of this palette, no matter your age or style.

Lets take a close up look at the shadows –

  • High – Champagne shimmer with micro-glitter (New)
  • Dirtysweet – Medium bronze (New)
  • Radar – Metallic taupe with iridescent micro-glitter (Vice 2)
  • Armor – Metallic silver-taupe with tonal sparkle (Vice)

urban decay naked smoky swatches 11

These first four shades all have a super shimmery, almost metallic finish. The colour payoff is outstanding, and they’re all just a dream to use and apply. I think these are definitely my favourites out of the palette!

  • Slanted – Light metallic grey (New)
  • Dagger – Medium charcoal with micro-shimmer (New)
  • Black Market – Jet black satin (Vice)
  • Smolder – Deep plum-taupe (New)

urban decay naked smoky swatches 22

The next four shades are a lot darker, and perfect for an evening smoky eye look. These mostly have satin finishes, and they’re not quite as intense as the shimmers but still very good in terms of pigmentation and ease of application.

  • Password – Cool taupe matte (New)
  • Whiskey – Rich brown matte (New)
  • Combust – Soft pink-taupe (New)
  • Thirteen – Light beige satin (New)

urban decay naked smoky swatches 33

And lastly we have four matte shades, and this set includes the only shade which I didn’t like, which was Combust, second from the right above. The formula of this shade seemed so much stiffer than the rest for some reason, I found it really difficult to work with and hard to get decent colour payoff. Thirteen, on the other hand, which is the lightest shade, was absolutely fantastic. I find really light matte shades usually down’t show up very well at all on my pale skin, but this was just fantastic with amazing pigmentation.

Urban Decay says ‘Each shade in Naked Smoky features our Pigment Infusion SystemTM, the proprietary blend of ingredients that gives every shade its velvety texture, rich color, serious staying power and blend ability.’ I’d say this is definitely true for 11 out of the 12 shades, which isn’t bad at all!

I really love this palette, and I think it’s probably my favourite out of all the Nakeds, I’d definitely recommend snapping this up!

The Naked Smoky Palette is £38 and available online now at .

I’m also giving away one of these palettes to one of you lucky readers! Just enter via the Rafflecopter widget below. The giveaway will run for two weeks and is open internationally. As always, please feel free to me if you have any questions. Good luck!

The Weekly Top 5 #12

Posted on July 19, 2015

Hi Guys!

Well it’s the end of another week already, so it’s time for this weeks’ Sunday Weekly Top 5 post! I’ve been really busy working extra shifts this week, which has actually been great as I feel completely settled in with my new job now 🙂

I had a pretty good week up until yesterday. I was supposed to be going to an all day and night hen party, but came down with terrible anxiety and didn’t / couldn’t go. My anxiety creeps up on my like a thief in the night, I’ll be fine for ages then all of a sudden I’ll just feel terrible. After cancelling on my friend and being eaten up by guilt I ended up sleeping the whole day. I woke up feeling much better but had to just write the day off in the end, which was a shame.

Onwards and upwards anyway hey! Here’s this weeks top five –

Ghost Adventures – Ghost Adventures is actually a long time favourite of mine. My husband records them and we seem to be watching an episode pretty much every night now. If you haven’t heard of Ghost Adventures, it’s basically like a modern day, real life Ghostbusters! The team; Zak, Aaron and Nick take their high tech equipment to haunted locations and try to catch ghosts on camera or voice recorder. I was actually a bit spooked by this when I first started watching it, but I think I’m used to it now!

Freya Starlet Vertical Seam Bra in Electric Blue – (£36.00) You really can’t beat new undies to make you feel good! The Freya Starlet Vertical Seam Bra is a first for me from Freya and it’s just gorgeous! It has electric blue coloured sheer cups with a geometric lace pattern and contrasting polka dot bows to complete the look. I love that it’s so bright and pretty, and it fits like a dream. I just need the undercrackers to match now! 😀

6 Vitamin Shot Drink – (£24.99 for 12) I’m quite partial to the odd energy drink, so it’s great to come across one that’s actually been crated by expert nutritionists. 6vitaminshot is described as your one stop vitamin energy shot, giving you your recommended vitamin allowance as well as much more. The precise mix of ingredients has been developed by expert nutritionists to offer six key benefits;

  • Supporting energy release
  • Supporting concentration
  • Reduction of tiredness and fatigue
  • Supporting the immune system
  • Mental function and performance
  • Sugar free

(£10.00) – I’ve tried countless lip balms in my time, and this is officially the best I’ve found so far. This lip moisturizer is a hydrating gel which provides lips with daily protection helping to prevent dryness and chapped lips, as well as acting as a treatment to restore and replenish already dry lips. Unlike other oils and balms, this Lip moisturiser contains absorbent fatty acids which nourish upon impact whilst providing a continual layer of hydrating protection throughout the day. If you have dry lips, I really can’t recommend this enough.

And lastly, this week’s go-to eyeliner of choice has been . Empire is a gorgeous deep aubergine shade with a metallic finish. I usually go for blue shades over purples but fancied a change and popped this little beauty in my makeup bag. I’ve been using it every day and I think I’ve found a new love for purple eyeliners! Please let me know if you have any other brighter purple shades you can recommend to me as I’d love to get some more.

In case you missed it –

This week’s most popular blog post has definitely been Eight Accessory Ideas To Improve Your Blog Photographs where I’ve included a few ideas to inspire if you’re looking to up your photography game. Take a look and let me know what you think!

Other things worth mentioning –

I want to give massive thanks to Charlotte from  for making my awesome new media kit! I actually never thought I needed a media kit up until recently, but over the last few months I’ve had a few requests from PR’s and companies for me to send my kit over so I thought it would be a good idea to get one done. If you’re thinking of getting a media kit made, I’d highly recommend Charlotte, apart from being lovely, she’s very talented and will listen to you to achieve what you’re looking for. Her Media Kit design services are currently on offer for £25 until the end of the month.

And lastly, it seems there’s been quite a lot of ‘blogging issues’ posts going around lately, from blogger burnout, to ‘we’re not appreciated’ type posts and discussing the difficulties blogger face (Which I completely agree with by the way) This is why I wanted to mention Jemma from Dorkface, I’ve recently discovered her blog, which is a mixture of beauty, lifestyle and kawaii cuteness! And I especially love her 10 Favourite Things About Blogging post, which focussed on the positive aspects of blogging. It’s always great to remind yourself why you blog, and what you enjoy about it.

Cohorted March Beauty Box | Review

Posted on March 14, 2015

Hi Guys!

It doesn’t seem like two minutes ago I was sharing the exciting news about Cohorted’s brand new beauty boxes, and here we are with their second offering! Unfortunately for some, all 300 of March’s boxes sold out in the blink of an eye so this one isn’t available for purchase any more (April’s will be shortly available though – details at the end of this post). Anyway the box arrived with me this morning and I couldn’t wait to get stuck in! There are some fantastic brands in this months’ box, and this is what I received…

  • Too Faced Exotic Color Eye Shadow in Copper Peony – worth £15.00
  • Sleek Precious Metals Highlighter Palette – worth £9.99
  • Bare Minerals Pure Transformation Night Treatment – worth £45.00
  • Urban Decay Perversion Mascara – sample size worth £5.00

The total value is £74.99 – wow!

I should also mention that the lovely peeps at Cohorted have hidden a Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Eye shadow Palette in five of March’s Beauty Boxes. Let me know if you’re a lucky winner! Last month they included an Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette in five boxes, so I really hope this is going to be a regular monthly occurrence!

I’m super impressed with the products in this box, I already have the Sleek palette already, but a girl can never have enough palettes, right? This box contains some of my favourite ever brands, so let’s take a look at the products –

too-faced-copper-peony-eyeshadow-review too-faced-copper-peony-eyeshadow-swatch

Ok so I’ll admit, I’ve been so enamoured with Too Faced’s amazing palettes, I’d never really looked into their other eye products, such as their single eyeshadows. From looking at the Too Faced site I can see the Exotic Color shadows come in twelve different shades – but everyone will receive the same one in their Cohorted box. Copper Peony is a beautiful high shimmer copper shade, and I’m completely in love with this colour. It’s just so pretty, summery and will suit pretty much everyone. The formula is spot on too – as expected from Too Faced. It was so amazingly well pigmented and felt buttery soft to apply. I really love this shadow!

Next is the Sleek Precious Metals palette, I already have this so rather than repeat myself I’ll just link you to my review here 🙂

The Bare Minerals Pure Transformation Night Treatment is an interesting looking product. I’ve never come across a night treatment that wasn’t a cream, liquid or serum before, and I have to say the idea of putting powder on my face before going to bed feels quite odd! The Pure Transformation Night Treatment is worth a massive £45, and I know price shouldn’t indicate quality, but for that price you’d hope it would work! It’s supposed to transform and replenish your skin whilst you sleep, leaving you looking radiant in the morning. It’s also clinically proven to reduce the appearance of pores and deliver faster cell turnover leaving you with increased luminosity, and it instantly diffuses imperfections so your skin will look miraculously renewed. Now this all sounds rather fabulous, but does it actually work? I’ll start using it tonight so look out for my review in the coming weeks!

And last’y Urban Decay’s Perversion Mascara. I must admit as much as I love Urbad Decay, I was never bothered about trying this product because the Perversion Eyeliner Pencil really disagreed with my eyes. I love UD eyeliner pencils usually, but there was something in Perversion that irritated and made my eyes water like crazy, so the mascara of the same name never appealed to me. I know they’re completely different products but I was still put off! I’ve been wearing the Perversion Mascara for a couple of hours now and I’m happy to say my eyes are fine! I wouldn’t say I’m wowed by it but it’s a good little every day mascara.

This box really is such great value, it’s only £19.99 so to get £74.99 worth of products inside is amazing! Also, Cohorted have increased the size of the box slightly since last month, and added an integrated ribbon so it’s really east to re-use the box for other uses. As I mentioned previously, this box has sold out, but April’s will be available for pre order from 15/03/15 . Make sure you snap one up quickly though as they’ll be sure to sell out super fast again!

Did you purchase one of these boxes? I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx
