New Matte Rescue Gel and Instant Wipeout Masks From Benefit Cosmetics

Posted on February 21, 2016

benefit-porefessional-review

Hi Guys!

When it comes to my skin, my pores are pretty much the bane of my life. In my teens and twenties I didn’t have any problems with my skin – apart from the odd spot popping up here and there, my complexion was really pretty good (I wish I’d appreciated it at the time) Now I’m the wrong side of 30 though, my skin has become dryer, and my pores have become WAY more noticeable. At first it was just my nose, but now my entire t-zone has visible pores, and I will try pretty much anything to make them appear smaller.

This is where Benefit Cosmetics comes in. They have recently added two new products to their POREfessional range – the POREfessional Matte Rescue mattifying gel and the POREfessional Instant Wipeout Masks – to clean out and smooth out the look of pores. I’m really hoping these products will work for me!

Ok so let’s look at the Matte Rescue invisible-finish mattifying gel first. This is designed to instantly minimise the appearance of pores. It’s a lightweight, water-based gel that tackles shine and absorbs excess oil, to leave skin with a natural-looking matte finish.

I don’t often go for a matte finish when it comes to my complexion, just because my skin tends to be dry, and anything with a matte finish seems to emphasise my dryer areas. I wanted to give this gel the benefit of the doubt though! The product itself is clear, with a very slight tint of green to it. It has quite a watery feeling to it compared to other primers I’ve used – which I actually like, and it definitely adds to the ‘lightweight’ feeling on the skin. I don’t suffer from oily skin as such, but I do sometimes notice shine building up around my nose as the day goes on, so I thought that would be the perfect test for this product – will my nose still be matte at the end of the day?

Well, on first application Matte Rescue definitely did give a lovely soft-focus, matte finish to my complexion, and it did a good job of blurring the appearance of my pores. I then applied my makeup and went about my day as usual. Matte Rescue actually did the job – I had no shine throughout the day and my dryer patches were no worse than normal. This definitely gets a thumbs up from me, and I think it could really work wonders with those with problem oily skin too.

benefit-instant-wipeout-masks-review

The Instant Wipeout dual-sided pore clarifying masks come in a set of eight. They are designed to clean out as well as smooth the look of pores around the nose, forehead and chin. (This sounds perfect for me as these are my problem areas) The masks are made of a textured fabric woven from cottony fibres to help exfoliate and remove impurities.

To ‘activate’ the mask you press firmly on the plastic bubble to release the serum and saturate the mask. You then apply the smoother side of the mask to the pore-problem area – I should point out here that I was kind of expecting a full face mask minus the cheeks, somehow! As the packaging mentions nose, forehead and chin. The mask is actually for one of these areas only, so the size of it is about the third of a face, and you choose which area you want to put it on. After 10 minutes, you remove the mask and use the other side to wipe off, without rinsing.

So I have sensitive skin, and masks can often be a bit of an issue for me as I occasionally have an allergic reaction to them. I’m very pleased to say the Instant Wipeout masks were fine though, yay! I applied one to my nose area across the middle of my face, and it give an instant intense cooling effect. My skin was left feeling clean and cleansed.

Overall these are a couple of great products, but the Matte Rescue Gel is definitely my favourite!

The  is £21.50 and the  (£24.50) are both available now from Boots and Benefit stores.

I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx

Templespa Double Truffle Review & Giveaway!

Posted on February 15, 2016

templespa-double-truffle-review

Hi Guys!

I hope you had a lovely Valentine’s day?

I have a brand new and exciting product to show you today – this is the new and rather fancy Double Truffle from Templespa. Double Truffle is a 50ml jar containing two different products – one half is filled with Skin Truffle and the other half with Truffle Noir, hence Double Truffle!

If you’re not familiar with either of these products individually, I’ll do a quick rundown for you…

So firstly, Skin Truffle – Described as happiness in a jar. Templespa’s team of experts spent five whole years perfecting this product, so it should be good! It also has a unique patented formula including a massive selection of luxury ingredients –

  • HappyBelle-PE: This is a breakthrough phyto-endorphin complex, giving you the ‘I’ve just had good news’ glow.
  • Syn-Col: This is a pro-collagen peptide which aids collagen production.
  • Black Truffles: These are natural antioxidants, used to brighten skin tone, whilst firming and smoothing skin.
  • Cocoa Butter: To soften and hydrate the skin
  • Grape Seed Champagne: No this isn’t for drinking! It’s a natural antioxidant, that also fights free radicals.
  • Strawberry Extract: This is rich in nutrients, to tone, purify and freshen the complexion.
  • Gold & Silk Actives: To protect against skin stress, as well as offering moisturising and antibacterial properties.
  • Diamond Powder: This iluminates the skin, giving an instant glow.

Skin Truffle promises increased radiance and reduced dullness pretty much instantly – now that is a big claim! It also visibly reduces fine lines, regulates moisture levels and protected from age spots and hyper-pigmentation.

And Truffle Noir – this is basically Skin Truffle’s night time equivalent. Truffle Noir is designed to repair, restore and renew skin while you sleep. Again this has a luxury formula that’s quickly absorbed as well as non-greasy. This product targets loss of collagen, fine lines, deeper wrinkles, skin slackness and dull skin. It promises to restore elasticity and boost collagen to help strengthen skin. It also slows down the development of fine lines and wrinkles, whilst leaving skin feeling soft and plump, with a satin-matte finish.

Both of these products would definitely be called pricey by anyone’s standards – they’re £85 each, so Templespa have come up with the genius idea of creating a duo product, so you can get the best of both worlds, at the same price as a single jar… and Double Truffle was born!

I’ve used Skin Truffle before, so I knew I’d be on to a winner with this. It’s just such a luxurious product, it feels like you’re pampering your skin every day. Now I’ve started using it again I’ve been reminded of how much I loved it before – and the added night cream really is a welcome bonus. I’ve only been using these a few days now and I can already see and feel the results. My skin is feeling amazingly soft when I wake up in the morning, as well as clearer and brighter too.

New From Lookfantastic: Beauty Boxes To Suit Your Skin Type

Posted on February 8, 2016

lookfantastic-dry-sensitive-skin-box-review

Hi Guys!

So it’s 2016, and we have a market completely saturated with a never ending amount of beauty and skincare products, so how do you know where to start? How do you know what to buy? How do you know the best product for YOU? Well you don’t, that’s the problem. That’s why many of us rely on blogs and reviews to find out what people really think of these products, so we can decide if they might suit us too.

Having sensitive skin is especially problematic when trying to choose skincare – I should know. And I’m so excited to find out that Lookfantastic have come up with a great idea to help those of us that just aren’t sure which products to choose…

They have just launched three new special edition beauty boxes – but these are not beauty boxes as we know it. These boxes are especially curated by skin type, and there are options for If you have , , and Dry/ Sensitive skin which I have.

Each box is £35.00 and contains around £100 worth of skincare products, specifically chosen for your skin type. This is a fantastic way to try out products without spending a fortune, and you may just find the perfect solution for your skin too!

The Dry/Sensitive Edition includes a mixture of full size and trial size products:

  • Eucerin DermatoCLEAN Mild Cleansing Milk 200ml (worth £9.00)
  • Gatineau Aquamemory High Hydration Mask 15ml (worth £7.20)
  • Balance Me Radiance Face Oil 10ml (worth £10.00)
  • NIOD Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Complex 30ml (worth £38.00)
  • Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré 30ml (worth £13.00)
  • Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S Morning Eye Rescue 15ml (worth £18.00)
  • There’s also a very informative booklet included, not only giving you info about the products, but also skin facts and helpful information.

Eucerin DermatoCLEAN Mild Cleansing Milk – This light, non-fragranced cleansing milk is designed to remove make-up, dirt and excess oil, without stripping skin of moisture. Its mild, yet powerful formula uses APG Complex to dissolve impurities, whilst hyaluronic acid works effectively to deeply hydrate skin and leave it purified, soft and supple. Gluco-glycerol boosts moisture levels, making this creamy lotion suitable for soothing both dry and sensitive skin.

Gatineau Aquamemory High Hydration Mask – For skin that needs intense hydration, this mask aims to restore skin’s natural barrier, leaving it feeling instantly comforted and more supple. The Aquamemory High Hydration Cream Mask contains Sea Fennel and Brown Algae to help skin retain moisture, and Sweet Almond Oil to intensely nourish.

Balance Me Radiance Face Oil – This award-winning face oil is perfect for transforming dull, dehydrated skin into a radiant, dewy and glowing complexion, whilst also calming areas prone to redness. This skincare hero contains eight oil extracts including Amazonian buriti nut, Camellia and Rosehip Oils to reduce redness, address uneven skin tone and minimise the visible signs of ageing and scarring. The healing blend of Yarrow and Benzoin English chamomile work together to plump, soften and soothe the skin with each drop.

NIOD Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Complex – Combining twelve forms of hyaluronic compounds, MMHC is the perfect product for plumping up and intensely hydrating dry and dehydrated skin. This advanced serum absorbs quickly to target fine lines and wrinkles,  preventing moisture loss and increasing short-term elasticity to reveal a more youthful-looking complexion. The serum also works to strengthen the skin’s structure, giving a visibly hydrated, comforted and smoother complexion.

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré – This amazing sounding multi-tasker can be used as a moisturising lotion, primer, face mask and even a make-up remover! It contains essential fatty acids and vitamins to reduce irritation and plump skin, and it’s enriched with nutrients and water to balance skin and promote cell renewal. The lotion delivers a satin film to reduce dryness and discomfort for a soft, radiant complexion.

Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S Morning Eye Rescue – This product promises to instantly soothe and refresh tired and sensitive eyes. Enriched with organic grape water, which is 100 per cent natural, it’s hypoallergenic and oil-free – making it suitable for the most delicate and sensitive skin around the eye area. Morning Eye Rescue also contains white tea extracts to decongest skin, leaving it fresh and glowing.

Well, all these products sound fantastic to me, but I’m especially keen to get started with the NIOD MMHC and the Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré  – I need to know if this really can do everything it promises!

I think this box contains a great looking selection of products, and if they actually work for me, my skin will be very happy indeed. Lookfantastic have definitely hit the nail on the head here with their tailored skincare boxes, and I think they’re going to be very popular indeed.

I’ll be trying these products out over the coming weeks so I’l let you know my thoughts on them very soon. I’d love to hear which products you’d recommend for sensitive skin?

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

The Erborian Detox Collection – A Must for Sensitive Skin

Posted on February 2, 2016

Erborian-Detox-Collection

Hi Guys!

Those of you that have sensitive skin will know what a complete pain it can be. I have insanely awkward skin – awkward in the sense that mostly it’s completely fine, then I’ll have a reaction to something completely out of the blue. It’s pretty frustrating as I never know which products are going to disagree with me.

One of my main problems with having both dry and sensitive skin, is exfoliation. Most products seem to be way too harsh for my delicate complexion – even ones that are specifically marketed as non-harsh or irritating. So finding a way to suitably exfoliate my face without upsetting my skin has been a bit of an ongoing mission for me, until I recently discovered these products by Erborian.

erborian-solid-cleansing-oil

The products I have are from Erborian’s 1-2-3 Detox Ritual: Inspired by the Korean triple cleansing technique to reveal healthy and radiant skin.

So I’ve started using their Solid Cleansing Oil 2-In-1 Make-Up Remover And Face Cleanser Balm (£29.00) – based on the Korean double cleansing method, the Erborian Solid Cleansing Oil combines the performance of a cleansing oil with the gentleness of a cream. This product has a thick, balmy texture which transforms into an oil upon with the warmth of the skin, to help dissolve impurities on the face. When rinsing, it transforms again into a silky lotion, to cleanse skin perfectly and leave behind a protective film. As well as cleansing my skin and removing makeup, this product leaves my complexion feeling fresh and nourished with no tightness at all.

erborian-Double-Mousse-Cleansing-Foam-&-Pore-Treatment

And their Double Mousse Cleansing Foam & Pore Treatment (£22.00) is also fantastic. I was expecting this to feel like a shaving cream foam, but it has more of a light bubbly foam texture, with a lovely light and fresh, almost herby scent. This product gently cleanses the skin to help eliminate impurities, whilst visibly refining skin’s texture for a flawlessly smooth effect. Erborian says ‘Skin is visibly softer, more supple and more luminous.’ and I would definitely agree.

The instructions advise you to apply two pumps, leave on the face for 30 seconds, then rinse with water, I have been doing this but I’ve also been massaging the product in with the Natural Konjac Sponge…

erborian-Natural-Konjac-Sponge

erborian-konjac-sponge-wet

The first image above is the sponge as you receive it out of the packet. It’s bumpy and hard, you then dip it in water for 3 minutes and as it soaks the water up, it ‘fills out’ and ends up in a half sphere shape as above.

When wet, the texture of the sponge is soft, yet has enough roughness to it to effectively exfoliate the skin without irritation. It also helps to stimulate microcirculation as it massages over the skin. I’ve used this a few times now with the above products and my skin is absolutely loving it. The cleansers do a fantastic job of removing makeup as well as making my skin feel squeaky clean, and the Konjac sponge is working fantastically well as a light exfoliator, I’ve only used these a few times so far and my complexion is looking better already!

All the above products are available now from .

New From The Body Shop: Drops of Youth

Posted on January 19, 2016

the-body-shop-drops-of-youth-products

Hi Guys!

I have some new skincare goodies from The Body Shop to share with you today! Following on from their popular Oils of Youth collection which was released towards the end of last year, The Body Shop have just launched their brand new  range.

The Oils of Youth products were obviously oil-based, and though the line is very similar in terms of the range of products on offer, the Drops of Youth collection is described as a Youth Enhancing Skincare routine, aiming to tackle the first signs of ageing, giving smoother, bouncier, and more youthful-looking skin.

The Drops of Youth products contain stem cells from three plants: Criste Marine, Sea Holly, and Edelweiss. I can’t really find any details on how these affect or work on the skin though I’m afraid – please feel free to point me in the right direction if you can help me here! So I’ll just let you know what I think of the products on face value.

the-body-shop-drops-of-youth-review

Firstly let’s take a look at the Youth Essence Lotion (£14.00) – this product is to be used after cleansing to prepare skin before moisturising. It has a gel-to-liquid formula, which promises to instantly smooth skin whilst replenishing moisture – and that it does! I applied this as directed and it did, in fact make my skin feel smoother. I’m not so sure about how moisturised it was, but this product definitely gave me lovely silky soft feeling skin.

The Youth Concentrate (£25.00) – this helps to enhance the condition of the skin, leaving it looking smoother, fresher and healthier, as well as instantly moisturising. This product has the silkiness of a serum, but the consistency also reminded me of a gel at the same time. I must say I wasn’t quite as impressed as I’d hoped to be, don’t get my wrong it is a nice little product, and it did feel lovely to apply, I just didn’t really get the instant moisturisation I was expecting with this one.

And lastly the Youth Day Cream (£20.00) – this is a gorgeous light and velvety air-whipped moisturising cream, that aims to leave skin feeling smoother, more supple and refined with a youthful-looking bounce. This is probably my favourite product out of the three. My skin loved this! It sank in in some sort of record speed (considering the amount of product I accidentally slapped on the first time) and left my face feeling amazingly well hydrated and comfortable.

the-body-shop-drops-of-youth-collection

The products all have a fresh, light and pleasant scent – I’m not a fan of strongly scented skincare products so this is definitely a good thing in my opinion, but I was mostly impressed with how fast they all sunk into my skin, leaving no residue or tackiness. My skin actually felt quite matte after application too – which is always a , as well as being nicely hydrated and just a bit brighter.

I’ve only used these products a few times so far, but I’m definitely impressed with them as a trio. In my opinion this is a skincare range that does the job as well as being affordable, so they get a thumbs up from me! I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products?

The Best Budget Beauty Stocking Fillers

Posted on December 3, 2015

budget-beauty-stocking-fillers-6

Hi Guys!

I thought it was about time I put together my Beauty Stocking Filler Guide, and I must admit I found it really difficult to cut it down to a reasonable amount of items! I did end up taking a few out though, and as some things that I really wanted to include were a bit too much on the expensive side. So I’ve decided to post a Luxury Stocking Fillers guide separately too – keep an eye out for this in the next few days!

budget-beauty-stocking-fillers-1

Molton Brown Frankincense & Allspice Festive Bauble (£10.00) – I’m a massive fan of Molton Brown bath, and though they’re on the expensive side, I think they’re definitely worth it. This sweet little bauble contains 75ml of the gorgeously spicy scented Frankincense & Allspice hand wash, which is the perfect scent for the festive season.

(£6.00) – Hand and nail cream always makes a good Christmas present, when harsh weather makes normal skin dryer, and already dry skin difficult to deal with! This lovely little cracker from Roger & Gallet contains a 30ml tube of their gorgeously scented orange hand and nail cream, and a bonus 1.5ml vial of their Bois D’Orange Eau Fraiche Perfume.

(£2.99) – One for those that love the scent of coconuts, this sweet scented shower cream will make the perfect affordable, pretty and also useful stocking filler.

 – This lovely bath and shower cream, and bath scrunchie duo is affordable, as well as smelling sublime. The Cherry Almond Sparkle scent is rich and sweet, and perfect for those with a sweet tooth! There are also loads of other products and mini sets available from I Love… at Superdrug – this range is definitely worth checking out.

budget-beauty-stocking-fillers-2

White Grace EDT (£5.00) – Proving that perfume doesnt have to be expensive, this White Grace EDT is a complete bargain for just £5.00 from Tesco! Unfortunately it’s now sold out, but there are plenty of other products in the White Grace range that are perfect for gifting, and also half price right now!

budget-beauty-stocking-fillers-3

Le Couvent Des Minimes Hugs & Kisses Duo (£8.00) – this sweet little gift set includes Botanical Recipe of the Morning Hand Cream, 25ml and Botanical Recipe of the Morning Lip Balm, 15ml. It’s perfect for those that suffer with dry skin and lips in the winter months. The beautiful fragrance of these products combines the fresh scents of Apples, Pears, Oranges & Figs with a woody base of Basil & Cedar- gorgeous!

(£7.00) – Firstly I should point out that this is not mint fragranced. Mint just refers to the colour of the packaging here! As with pretty much all Ted Baker products, this body spray is both pretty to look at, and it smells amazing too. It has a floral musky aroma blended with notes of powdery violet, with peach and cherry accords and a soft sweet base of vanilla, patchouli and amber.

budget-beauty-stocking-fillers-4

(£10.00) – Another product from the Mint range, this beautifully rich Body Souflee smells as good as it sounds! It has the same fragrance as the Body Spray above, and is just perfect for slathering on after a hot bath.

 – I received this lovely little cracker with Sleek’s latest Gold Collection products at the launch party – and I thought that it would make a great stocking filler gift, but unfortunately I can’t see that it’s available to buy online. It contains a True Colour Lipstick in Vixen, which is a stunning bright red shade. If you’re looking to gift some budget beauty products this Christmas, I’d definitely recommend checking Sleek out.

Kiko Milano Perfecting Bronzer (£12.90) – this lovely Kiko bronzer and blush duo is from the Rebel Romantic range, and it’s just beautiful! I love that Kiko products are affordable whilst looking expensive! Kiko also have LOADS of new gifts in their Christmas range too, so definitely give them a look.

Latest in Beauty Crackers (17.95) – Ok so I know these crackers are a bit on the expensive side, but you do get three in a lovely presentation box, so they’re really quite affordable! Each cracker contains a selection Latest in Beauty’s favourite beauty products in mini sizes.

budget-beauty-stocking-fillers-8

Sleek Makeup The Gold Standard Eyeshadow Palette (£7.49) – Another beauty from Sleek Makeup, this limited edition eyeshadow palette contains six stunning shimmery shades that would be perfect for creating some gorgeous Christmas looks. It’s only £7.49 too, which is a complete bargain!

budget-beauty-stocking-fillers-9

And lastly, the  (£11.00) – This limited edition festive bauble contains three of Melvita’s essential natural treasures for your skin, including: Damask Rose Floral Water 25ml, L’Or Bio Extraordinary Oil 17ml and L’Argan Bio Velvet Hand Cream 30ml.
