dry-skin-treats

Hi Guys!

If you have skin that tends to be dry and sensitive like I do, you’ll know how important it is to look after it. I’m not the best at sticking to a skincare routine so I love to treat my skin with some luxurious and nourishing products every now and then just to give it a moisture boost. So I’ve put together a list of some of my favourite products, they cover a range of budgets so there should be something here to suit everyone 🙂

1. Weleda Skin Food Saviour – £9.95 at Weleda.

Weleda Skin Food is an old favourite of mine, it’s a lovely nourishing and hydrating treatment for the whole body, offering intense hydration for anywhere that needs it – especially the hands, feet and elbows. The Skin Food formula has been around since 1926, so it’s definitely stood the test of time! This kit includes a cotton flannel which you dampen with warm water and place on the face to help open pores, then apply a think layer of Skin Food and remove with the flannel after 10 minutes. This is an inexpensive, easy and effective way to get super soft and hydrated skin.

2. Thalgo Extreme Comfort Cream – £45.00 at Thalgo.

If you’re looking for a more luxurious product, you must try Thalgo’s Extreme Comfort Cream. This is specifically designed to nourish dry skin, providing an intense feeling of instant and lasting comfort. The Extreme Comfort Cream is an exceptionally rich cream reinforced with Omega-3 & Omega-6 fatty acids and restructuring oils to help repair the skin deep-down, giving the skin a luxuriously moisturised feeling. It’s repairing, soothing and calming, and this cream also helps protect the skin from visible signs of ageing.

3. Yes Nurse Hand Cream – £8.49 from Yes Nurse.

If hands are you problem area, Yes Nurse offers a fantastic and affordable solution. The Yes Nurse Hand Cream combines Omega 3, 5, 6 & 9 and Vitamins A, B5 & E to soothe inflammation, hydrate skin cells & repair dry and cracked skin whilst locking in moisture, leaving you with noticeably smooth & nourished hands. I love that this product doesn’t leave you with a greasy, slimy feeling like you can get from many hand creams.

4. Skyn Iceland Arctic Hydrating Balm – £25 from .

This Arctic Hydrating Balm is a deeply reparative moisturising skin replenisher, harnessing cryogenic technology from the Arctic and Antarctic to soothe and repair super dry and sensitive skin. It contains Antarticine which is extracted from an Antarctic glacier to help prevent damage, Red Arctic algae, which soothes skin and fights free radical damage for healthier tone and texture, Gooseberry extract to regulate skin temperature, and an Arctic oil blend to help soothe skin. This really is a super thick and intense cream, I love to use this when my skin is particularly dry and unhappy.

5. Nuxe Creme Fraiche De Beaute Mask – £18.50 from .

I’ve tried a few of Nuxe’s products now and they’re definitely a fantastic affordable skincare option, the Crème Fraîche de Beauté Mask is a lovely, refreshing face mask that can be used once or twice a week to rehydrate and revive tired skin. I’d also recommend storing it in the fridge, for extra cooling refreshment!

I’d love to hear what you think? And if you’ve tried any of these products?

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

January Beauty Favourites

january-2015-beauty-favourites

Hi Guys!

I’ve only just released I haven’t written a monthly favourites post since last September – oops! Anyway I’m back on the wagon now, and there have just been so may amazing products I’ve been using lately, it’s been hard to cut it down! I’ve managed to get my list down to a reasonable length now, so here are the products I’ve been loving in January –

MAC Lip Pencil in Soar. Ok so I’m a bit late to the bandwagon with the whole Kylie Jenner nude lip thing, but I am a big fan of a nude lip so thought I’d snap this up when I saw it finally available on MAC’s site, and I have to say I love it! The colour is the perfect my lips but better shade and I have to say I’m keen to grab Whirl when that comes back in stock now too.

NARS Audacious Lipstick in Anita. I bought this last year when the Audacious lippies were first released, and it’s the perfect partner to my Soar lip pencil. Giving beautiful creamy colour with full opacity, this has been my go to lip product since the beginning of the year.

Bare Minerals Mineral Veil Loose Powder. This is a product that I actually use all the time, but kind of automatically without realising if that makes sense! Mineral Veil is a fantastic setting powder without being heavy or cakey, it sets my foundation giving a demi-matte finish with a super lightweight feel.

Elie Saab Resort Collection Fragrance. This fragrance is simply beautiful and I haven’t been able to put it down since it arrived. Resort Collection instantly whisks you away on a luxurious holiday, with sunshine, cocktails, sailing boats (you know the type where people lounge around drinking champers) and summer nights. It’s the perfect fragrance to brighten your mood in this dreary weather and I really can’t recommend it enough.

Bourjois Mega Eyeliner Pen. This is without a doubt one of the best pen style eyeliners I’ve ever used. The Mega Eyeliner has a slanted nib – just like a calligraphy pen – which makes it super easy to draw fine or thicker lines. The product itself is also the deepest most opaque black, and it lasts all day. I would recommend this to any eyeliner fan.

Goldfaden MD Fleuressence Cell Oil. I must admit I’ve only recently started trying the Fleuressence Cell Oil, but I have to say I’m completely in love already. This miracle oil encompasses 100% pure active botanicals, fruit extracts and natural oil to deliver powerful vitamins and nutrients deep into the skin, resulting in replenished hydration, improved skin colour and tone and it boosts radiance. I’ve only used this a few times but my skin already feels brighter, plumper and amazingly nourished. Full review to follow!

Stila In The Light Palette. I’m pretty sure this has been in one of my previous favourites posts. This palette is just so beautiful and versatile, I’ve found myself constantly going back to it. The shades are all so easy to wear, they have amazing colour payoff and stay put all day.

Milani Baked Blusher in Luminoso. I’ve only just discovered Milani products, and I’m so glad I did. Their baked eyeshadow in Luminoso is such a beautiful peachy coral shade that gives a lovely sheen to the skin and brightens the complexion. It’s the perfect spring shade!

Nuxe Reve De Miel. This lip balm has instantly jumped to the top of my favourites list. It works amazingly well to soften and moisturise even the driest lips, i.e mine, and it’s lived in my handbag ever since it arrived. This is a must have if you suffer from super dry lips like I do. (FYI I googles it and Reve De Miel means ‘Honey Dream’)

Well there we have it for January’s favourites, I’m going to try my best not to forget to do February’s! I hope you enjoyed my post, and I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products? xxx

The Under £10 Lip Balm Guide

lip-balms

Hi Guys!

My lips are officially a complete pain in the butt. If you’re a regular reader you may have picked up on this! I’ve always suffered with dry, cracked and flaky lips which seem to get worse in the colder months, so I’m forever on the hunt for the perfect lip treatment. Because of this I’ve basically become a bit of a lip balm hoarder, I’ve tried most high street brands that are decently priced and readily available, and there really are masses of balms, creams and treatments available now. I thought it would be handy to put a post together to let you know my thoughts on some of the reasonably priced lip balms I’ve tried – basically those I have that are under £10.

Papaya Gold Paw Paw Moisturising Balm is a new addition to my collection. This moisturising balm is enriched with Bio Active Manuka Honey, a topical balm that soothes, relieves and moisturises dry, sensitive, chaffed and irritated skin and dry chapped lips. It’s a fab all round product that can also be used on eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis. I love that this is a multi-use dry skin product in a handy portable tube. This works fantastically well on the lips with a subtle, pleasant scent. This comes in a massive tube and it’s a real bargain at £5.99 from .

Hurraw! Balm – Another new product in my stash, Hurraw! balms are made of premium organic, vegan and raw ingredients and contains certified organic, cold pressed and centrifuged extracted, nut and seed oils and butters. No petroleum, parabens, preservatives, artifical flavours or colours, these balms are gluten free, soy free, and shea free. If you want products as natural as possible, Hurraw! is where it’s at. In terms of performance, Hurraw! is great for mildly dry lips. This is £3.99 from mypure.

Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula – This Ultra Moisturizing Lip Balm, enriched with Vitamin E and with the added benefit of SPF 15, helps prevent and protect chapped, cracked or wind-burned lips. This is a great balm for mildly dry lips and a complete bargain for only £1.99 from Boots.

Nivea Lip Care Pearly Shine – £2.29 from . I love the idea of a lip balm that also makes your lips look pretty, and this really does give a pearly shine! It’s not the best balm in the world though and I found it didn’t really sink into the lips unfortunately.

Lush Mint Julips – £5.50 from LUSH. Ok I know it’s not actually a balm, but I think this product is worth mentioning anyway. Mint Julips is a gentle lip scrub with warming peppermint and sweet vanilla combined with real sugar crystals to buff away any flaky skin. I find this scrub works really well, followed by a dose of balm it leaves my lips super soft!

Nuxe Reve de Miel – £9.50 from . This is an intensely hydrating lip balm to protect and repair dry, sore and chapped lips. Their winning formula comprises of honey, plant oils, shea butter and grapefruit essence to instantly protect, repair and restore comfort to chapped lips. This balm really is fantastic, it really sunk in to my lips and was intensely moisturising. I currently take this everywhere with me!

Anatomicals Never Lose Your Cherry – I love Anatomicals fun packaging! This balm is designed to soften-up your lips and maintain a perfectly gorgeous pout. This is a lovely moisturising balm that worked really well when my lips were slightly dry. This is £2.55 from .

Skin Shop’s Liquorice Balm – This is a product specifically for cold sore sufferers to use between outbreaks. A trial by the Herpes Virus Association found that Liquorice Balm helped reduce the frequency and intensity of cold sore outbreaks if used regularly. Liquorice Balm can be rubbed into lips as often as necessary and not only could it help reduce cold sore outbreaks, it is also a nourishing balm that helps keep lips well-conditioned and smelling candy-shop sweet. £7.95 from .

Liquorice and Melissa Rescue Lip Gel – And this is for use when you already have coldsores. This is an intensive gel containing 8% liquorice extract and an extract of Melissa. It designed for quick and easy application to maintain the good condition of lips. £7.95 from .

Carmex Lip Balm Tube – Carmex has been one of my go-to lip balms for years upon years since my school days! Whether it’s in a tube or pot I’ve always used Carmex without problem. I find they work well on mild to moderately dry lips. £2.69 from .

EOS Lip Balm – £6.50 from . Ok so this is a bit of a funny one. I was originally a fan of EOS lip balms, and apart from the Blueberry and Acai one featured here, I would always have a few others dotted around the house. But since the cold weather hit and my lips have become even more troublesome, I find this balm just kind of sits on the lips and doesn’t really moisturise that well. Sad face.

Lansinoh Nipple Cream – £7.49 from John Lewis. This stuff is 100% natural, paraben free, has no additives, preservatives or chemicals, and no taste, colour or smell. Of course it’s technically a nipple cream, but it also works amazingly well on the lips, and is just the same, but cheaper than Dr Lipp products. I highly recommend this for extra dry lips, and I’ve got the full details in a post here.

Bee Good Vanilla and Honey Lip Balm – This deeply rich and nourishing balm includes British beeswax, natural source vitamin E, British borage oil; a rich source of skin strengthening essential fatty acids and British echium oil to replenish dry skin. This is a lovely balm that did the trick and was super moisturising. £4.75 from bee good.

Ok so overall there really are some fab lip balms out there that won’t break the bank, by my personal stand out ones definitely have to be Nuxe Reve de Meil, Lansinoh and Papaya Gold Paw Paw to sooth my super dry lips.

I hope you’ve found this post useful and I’d love to hear if you have any recommendations that I haven’t tried yet? xxx
