NARS-Summer-2016-Under-Cover-Collection-review Hi Guys!

I have NARS’ latest collection to share with you today – this is the limited edition Under Cover Collection for Summer 2016. It comprises of a selection of Dual Intensity Eyeshadows, Dual Intensity Blush Duos and brand new Lip Cover’s in limited edition hand drawn packaging…

nars-summer-2016-collection

For Summer 2016, NARS makes a getaway with this limited-edition collection—high-fashion moments steeped in exclusivity and ease. New, rich Lip Covers saturate lips with coastal color, while Dual-Intensity Eyeshadows transform sheer tones and glistening shades for eyes. Dual-Intensity Blush completes the look with a touch of the sun – an insatiable rush of blush.

Isn’t the packaging just gorgeous!? It’s very chic, very French – very NARS…

The illustrations were designed by contemporary artist Konstantin Kakanias – taking inspiration from an editorial photo shoot, he aimed to capture the wit and wonder of François Nars behind-the-scenes world, and bring each moment to life in his fun and quirky illustrations.

NARS-Summer-2016-Under-Cover-Collection-dual-intensity-eyeshadow-topless

Let’s start by looking at the Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow (£21.00) – if you’re not familiar with NARS’ Dual Intensity products, the clue really is in the name! These products are specifically formulated to be used both dry, for a sheer finish, or wet, for an increased intensity, high impact finish.

The Under Cover Collection contains four Dual Intensity Eyeshadow shades (out of 21 available at NARS in total)

  • Topless – seashell pink.
  • Pool Shark – iridescent periwinkle.
  • Deep End – shimmering teal green.
  • Tan Lines – rich hazelnut.

I have shade Topless, which is a pretty nude beige pink, with a hint of shimmer, and NARS advise using their Wet / Dry Eyeshadow #49 brush with these shadows, as this is designed specifically for both wet and dry application. I’m definitely a fan of this shade used both wet and dry – the formula has a wonderfully smooth texture with a luxe feel, as expected from NARS, and it’s just a joy to apply and wear.

NARS-Summer-2016-Under-Cover-dual-intensity-blushers

Next the Dual-Intensity Blush (£30.00) – NARS have added two new Dual Intensity Blush duos to the six they already had on offer –

  • Liberation – shimmering light pink and caramel rose.
  • Sexual Content – sandy peach and soft raspberry.

Just like the above eyeshadows, the Dual Intensity Blush duos can be used both wet and dry, depending on how intense you want your look to be. They also feature NARS’ exclusive Translucent Prismatic Technology which utilises pearls and pigments to allow for multi-dimensional effects with a uniquely weightless, luxurious texture.

The formula is wonderfully silky and looks fabulous applied dry especially, giving skin a luminous, healthy glow.

NARS-Summer-2016-Under-Cover-dual-intensity-blush-liberation

Liberation – the light pink shade in this duo is really pretty, it gives my fair skin a sheer tint of colour.

NARS-Summer-2016-Under-Cover-dual-intensity-blush-sexual-content

Sexual Content – this is definitely my favourite of the two blush duos. The colours are slightly softer and easier to wear (on my pasty skin anyway!)

NARS-Summer-2016-Under-Cover-Collection-lip-cover

And lastly the Lip Cover (£21.00) – I wasn’t too sure what to expect with this one, I was thinking more along the lines of a liquid lipstick than a gloss, and technically it is a liquid lipstick, but it doesn’t dry and set on the lips like you would expect. The Lip Cover formula stay fluid – but not sticky – meaning they’re super comfortable to wear and not drying at all.

But, like a standard liquid lipstick they are super highly pigmented – which I just love. The colour saturation luminous finish really is a winning combination!

The Lip Covers come in four shades, ranging from easy to wear nude pinks, to bright and vivid reds and oranges –

  • Overheated – deep dusty rose.
  • Do Not Disturb – vivid orange-red.
  • Get Dirty – desert rose.
  • Members Only – crimson.

So there we have it – what a gorgeous collection! I have to say the Lip Covers really are fabulous, and if you’re a fan of liquid lipsticks, I’d really recommend you try these out.

The limited edition NARS Under Cover collection is available now at .

Cohorted June 2016 Beauty Box Review

Posted on June 14, 2016

cohorted-beauty-box-review-june-2016

Hi Guys!

As ever it doesnt seem like a week has passed since the last box arrived, and now June’s Cohorted box has just landed on my doormat! Let’s take a look what’s included in this months box –

  • HD Brows Eye & Brow Palette in Foxy, worth £25.00.
  • NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil, in Sierra, worth £20.00.
  • James Read Instant Bronzing Spray, worth £25.00.
  • Lord & Berry Supreme Iridescent Eyeliner, in Smart Blue, worth £12.00.

Total value of box = £82.00.

Ok, so this box probably isn’t the most exciting I’ve seen from Cohorted (it would have been nice to receive five products rather than four) never the less at £82.00 it is a high value box, and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and trying everything out…

I’m a big fan of NARS lip products, especially their Velvet Matte Lip Pencils, so I was really happy to find one in this months box! The shade Sierra is not really my colour though unfortunately – it’s kind of a burnt sienna / orange shade, which I think would look amazing on darker skin tones, but it doesn’t really do much for my pasty complexion! The booklet does say ‘mixed’ for the shade though, so it looks as though there will be a variety of shades on offer. I should also point out that though I’m not keen on this particular colour, I definitely think NARS’ Velvet Matte Lip Pencils are one of the best matte lipsticks you can buy.

The Lord & Berry Supreme Iridescent Eyeliner also caught my eye – you know how I love a blue eyeliner! Shade Smart Blue is a deep midnight blue with a metallic matte finish. It applies nicely and the formula is smooth and soft, but not too soft – I’m really happy this was in the box!

The HD Brows Palette also looks pretty good – this palette contains a highlighter, three brow shades (all matte pressed powder) and a clear wax for setting the brows, as well as a double ended brush. It’s also great that the shadows are dual purpose, so you can use them both as eyeshadow and for your brows.

And lastly the James Read Instant Bronzing Spray – I must admit I’m usually quite wary when it comes to fake tan as I’m pretty pale. The James Read Instant Bronzing Spray promises to deliver an all over golden tan with ease. I’ll be trying this out over the next few days so keep an eye on my snapchat (smiletrade) to see how I get on!

I’d love to hear if you picked up this box and what you thought of it?

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

House of Fraser have very kindly sent me a few of these gorgeous products to try out. I’ve given a brief overview of them below, and full reviews will be coming up shortly –

YSL Touche Eclat Le Teint in BD10 – You can probably guess this by the name, but YSL have taken the technology used in their cult Touche Eclat highlighter, and incorporated it into their latest foundation. The lightweight fluid of Touche Eclat Le Teint aims to illuminate the complexion with its magic light infused formula, whilst erasing imperfections, leaving skin looking natural, radiant and perfected.

in Shade 1 Rose lumiere – Would you believe it if I said touché Eclat has been around for 20 years now? Twenty years!! Most of you will know what Touche Eclat is, so I’ll only touch on this one briefly (See what I did there?) This is the gold clicky pen of dreams, is brightens, highlights, and adds luminosity to your complexion – definitely a must have!

in shade Groenland – This is a rather fabulous sounding oil-free matte foundation which offers SPF30 protection with a soft velvet-matte finish. The formula contains NARS’ innovative Velvet Illusion Complex to instantly transform the look of skin, creating an immediate soft-focus effect that helps to blur imperfections and minimise the look of pores.

Clinique Pep Start Eye Cream 15ml – This sounds exactly what I could do with right now, a cream to ‘pep up’ my ever puffy and dark-circled eye area. You just use twice a day to hydrate, brighten, and generally perk up your under-eyes, leaving you feeling refreshed, and looking wide awake.

 – This is a high-performance and multi-action creme to help significantly reduce the appearance of the signs of ageing, including lines, wrinkles, loss of firmness, dullness and dehydration. This products aims to instantly give skin a smoother, clearer, more radiant appearance.

Kiehl’s Turmeric and Cranberry Seed Energizing Masque – This is an invigorating, energising and exfoliating mask, perfect for targeting a dull and fatigued complexion, giving skin a natural and healthy appearance – I really think I’m going to love this! It’s formulated with cranberry & turmeric to even the skin tone, while crushed cranberry seeds gently exfoliate for smoother, brighter, illuminated-looking skin.

I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products? Or if you’re hoping to pick any up in the Beauty Event?

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

There’s a New Beauty Box on the Scene: Look Incredible

Posted on February 13, 2016

look-incredible-beauty-box-feb-15

Hi Guys!

The last couple of years has seen a massive increase in the variety as well as sheer amount of beauty boxes hitting the market – I can think of about eight off the top of my head. And now yet another brand new box has just landed. New beauty site have recently launched their own monthly subscription box, including a mixture of high end and high street brands, for £18.99 per month.

So what’s so special about this box? Why would you be interested in this above any others? Well the Look Incredible box promises five full sized products every month – you’ll find no sample or travel sizes here! For £18.99 a month ( £2.50 shipping) this sounds very reasonable.

I believe this is the second beauty box that Look Increible have released (with their first being in January) and here’s what’s included –

  • Fusion Beauty IllumiCover Concealer – worth £16.50
  • Estee Lauder Pure Colour Lipstick – worth £21.99
  • Essie Millionails Nail Treatment – worth £9.99
  • Tarte Maracuja Cheek Tint – worth £20.00
  • NARS Single Matte Eyeshadow in Grenadines – worth £18.00

Total value of box  = £86.48. Now that is pretty impressive for an £18.99 box!

On first glance, I’m really impressed with the product selection, and I love that there’s a good mix of brands too, with an emphasis toward higher end. So let’s take a look at the products –

Starting with the one brand out of the five that I hadn’t heard of – the Fusion Beauty IllumiCover Concealer. This is a Touche Eclat style pen, combining the effects of a concealer with a light reflecting product. This didn’t give quite as much coverage as I’d like, but then I do have particularly dark circles. It’s a nice product though that gave a natural finish, and most importantly didn’t settle into my fine lines.

The NARS Eyeshadow in Grenadines is probably my favourite item out of this box. It’s a beautiful deep warm reddish terracotta shade. This colour may not be to everyone’s taste but I absolutely love it! I think red toned eyeshadows can look great on blue eyes so I’m looking forward to wearing this out!

The Essie Millionails Nail treatment is also a product I’ll definitely get use out of. My nails haven’t been in the best condition of late so I’m pleased to find this strengthening treatment in the box.

And lastly the products I’m probably least excited about – the Tarte Cheek Tint and Estee Lauder Lipstick. There’s not actually anything wrong with these products at all, I just prefer a powder blush personally, and the lipstick shade isn’t really for me.

Overall I think this box is fantastic value for money. It seems to have slipped nicely into a gap in the beauty box market now Cohorted’s boxes are £35 each, and the cheaper boxes such as Glossybox include mosty trial size products. Though I think this is a great box, there are still a couple of improvements I can think of – I would love to see a bit more effort put into the product information leaflet, this was a single sheet leaflet that wasn’t the best print quality. I’d also advise Look Incredible to be wary of including base products such as foundation and concealer as there will always be customers that are disappointed with the shade they receive. Overall though, this is a very promising box indeed, and I’m looking forward to seeing which products will be included next month!

I’d love to hear what you think of this box – would you buy it?

The Best Luxury Beauty Stocking Fillers

Posted on December 7, 2015

luxury-beauty-stocking-fillers

Hi Guys!

If you saw my Budget Beauty Stocking Fillers post a couple of days ago, you’ll know I’d been planning to follow up with a luxury version of this post 🙂 You’ll probably know by now that I’m a complete sucker for high end beauty products, I’m just drawn to anything with beautiful or eye catching packaging like a magpie! So I’ve gathered together some of the best of the more expensive beauty goodies I have, that I think any beauty lover would be thrilled to find in their stocking this Christmas…

Lancome-La-vie-est-belle

(£69.00) – This is Lancome’s latest version of their much loved original La Vie Est Belle fragrance. La Vie Est Belle EDP Intense includes tuberose and gourmand notes to add depth and intensity to the scent. This was music to my ears as I love tuberose, and I’m usually a fan of ‘intense’ versions of fragrance – and I love this!

The theme of La Vie Est Belle is beauty, joy, and happiness, and I think this definitely comes through in the beautifully sweet fragrance. It’s fruity, creamy and definitely intense – if you’re a fan of sweet perfumes such as Viktor & Rolf’s BonBon, this is a must have for your fragrance wardrobe.

lancome-guerlain-nars

Guerlain Gloss D`Enfer Intense Colour & Shine Sensation (£23.00) – Firstly I must apologise for my photo. The Gloss d`Enfer Intense Colour & Shine Sensation is the most beautiful sparkly gloss I’ve probably ever seen, and no matter how I tried, I just couldn’t capture this for you.

Guerlain’s Limited Edition Maxi Shine Reflects Etoilés makes your lips sparkle like there’s no tomorrow. It’s described as a top coat, but it also looks amazing on it’s own. It has a clear non-sticky base that’s full of multi coloured glitter particles!

Lancome Lancome Vernis In Love – 425 Rouge Midnight (£13.50) – This polish really is everything you need for the perfect Christmas mani. It’s red, check, sparkly, check, and just gorgeous, check! Lancome have launched three new shades of Vernis In Love for Christmas ’15, and Rouge Midnight is the most beautifully glamorous deep red shade, packed full of gold and red micro glitter.

NARS Rouge A Levres Lipstick (£20.00) – NARS lipsticks are just fantastic, I own quite a few of them now in varying shades and I’ve never been disappointed with a purchase. I highly recommend their Semi Matte and Audacious ranges. They come in a massive range of shades too, so there will definitely be something to suit everyone.

Guerlain-Terracotta-Joli-Teint-Natural-Healthy-Glow-Powder-Duo

(£35.50) – I have a special relationship with Guerlain, this brand was my first ever high end beauty purchase way back when (around 2005 I think) it was a Divinora Eyeshadow palette, it was beautiful, and I fell in love with the brand instantly.

Guerlain’s Terracotta Joli Teint Natural Healthy Glow Powder Duo is the perfect compact to give your complexion a healthy glow this winter. It comprises of a softened sun-kissed powder, lighter than the legendary Terracotta bronzing powder. Its pigments are less intense and works with the skin to make it glow without overloading it. And there’s also a coloured shade that blends with the sun-kissed powder to deliver a beautiful burst of radiance to the skin.

alaia-fragrance

(£62.00) – The first fragrance from Alaïa, Alaïa Paris EDP is a stunning evening fragrance. Azzedine Alaia wanted to create a fragrance akin to ‘the smell of cold water falling on hot chalk’, and funnily enough I do actually pick that up from this fragrance. There’s a distinct freshness, with aquatic mineral notes, but there’s also the warming depth of musk, making this a rather unusual yet beautiful scent. Alaia Paris EDP has fresh and airy top notes of pink pepper, floral heart notes of freesia and peony, and animal base notes of musk.

luxury-stocking-fillers

(From £28.00) – Diptyque has introduced three new limited edition candles to light up the holiday season, and this years’ limited edition trio is dedicated to the olfactory attributes of trees.

Liquidambar is in fact a North American tree, and it’s name originates from the aromatic resin that seeps from the tree. The Liquidambar scented candle smells deliciously warm and intense. It embraces the redness of this large autumnal tree, with enveloping liquid amber, spiced nutmeg and cinnamon sand, cloaked in the scent of brown sugar, providing a sweet and warm veil of gourmand accents. I’ll be featuring this candle more closely in an upcoming post too!

(£25.50) – I love Benefit’s makeup sets, they look amazing and make perfect Christmas gifts! The pocket size Feelin Dandy lip and cheek set includes an iconic tint, award-winning cheek color, luscious lip gloss and beautiful highlighter so you can add a pop of colour to your look this season. The set includes:

  • Posietint – Poppy-pink tinted lip & cheek stain
  • High Beam – luminescent complexion enhancer
  • Dandelion – brightening face powder
  • Ultra Plush Dandelion Lip Gloss

urban-decay-eyeshadows-and-nars-brush

(£14.00) – These eyeshadows are just so gorgeous, you couldn’t actually ask for more sparkle! I have shades Ether (top) and Scorpio (bottom). Ether is a stunning lavender shade packed full of lavender and teal micro glitter particles, and Ether is an intense deep khaki green shade, with golden / green glitter sparkles. These can be used wet or dry, and there are 11 high shimmer shades to choose from in the collection.

(£31.00) – NARS makeup brushes really are where it’s at, and this beautiful #23 Wet / Dry Blush brush would make a fantastic addition to any makeup lovers collection. Designed for versatility, featuring a compact, domed nylon brush head for perfectly applying and blending product either wet or dry. This brush is beautifully weighted, so it feel fantastic to hold, and just oozes quality.

clinique-chubby-sticks

(£17.00) – This sweet little gift box contains three of Clinique’s top selling products – the Chubby Stick! Perfect for those that want to try Chubby Sticks for the first time but aren’t sure which to go for, this set contains formulas from sheer to intense, filled with good-for-skin ingredients and no fragrance at all. The set contains –

  • Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Super Strawberry 1.2g
  • Chubby Stick Intense Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Mightiest Maraschino 1.2g
  • Chubby Stick Baby Tint Moisturising Lip Colour Balm in Budding Blossom 1.2g

The Autumn Beauty Edit

Posted on November 17, 2015

autumn-beauty-products

Hi Guys!

I’m not sure where the year has gone but somehow it’s already mid November. We’re in the full swing of autumn, and over recent weeks I’ve noticed the makeup products I’ve been reaching for have gradually been changing. This wasn’t a conscious decision at all. I’ve just recently noticed the colours in my makeup bag have definitely changed with the season.

So I thought I’d gather together some of my current favourite seasonal shades to show you, some are old favourites, and some are brand new discoveries which I love. Enjoy!

autumn-beauty-products-3

autumn-lipsticks

autumn-lipstick-swatches

Firstly, let’s look at the lipsticks! I just love autumnal browns, pinks and mauves. These shades of lipstick can easily take your look from summer to autumn with just one product. Here are some of my favourites –

  • Illamasqua Glamore Lipstick in Kin. This beautiful shade is from the Earth collection, it’s an intense burnt red shade that reminds me of autumn leaves. I really need to pick up more Illamasqua lipsticks because the formula really is excellent, you get fantastic pigmentation with a long-lasting smooth satin finish.
  • Tom Ford Lips & Boys in Guillermo – Ahh Tom Ford, the king of lipsticks. Guillermo is one of the shades I picked up when the Lips & Boys collection first launched, and it’s just beautiful. I love wearing this with a full on smokey eye for an evening vampy look.
  • MAC Lipstick in Fast Play – I love this shade so much, it’s completely underrated in my opinion. I actually discovered it when I was searching for the perfect lip shade to wear to my wedding. You can see my original post here for more pics.
  • – Clarins’ Jolie Rouge lipsticks have a beatufilly creamy and silky formula, with a semi sheer finish. Tea Rose is a pretty light pink that’s really easy to wear. This is a fantastic go-to everyday lipstick.

autumn-pencils

autumn-pencils-swatches

Next I have a selection of pencils, including three eyeliners and a lipliner…

  • – I actually received this mini eyeliner free with a Sephora order a while ago, and I’ve been in love with it ever since. Grey is a fantastic alternative to black eyeliner for a softer look, and Urban Decay’s Glide on Pencils are some of the best around.
  • – Ever since visiting the Pixi store in London for an event a few months ago, I’ve been loving their products and picked up a few more of their amazing Silky Eye Pens. The shade Deep Plum is a lovely shade that catches the light beautifully giving a hint of metallic purple.
  • Kiko Colour Definition Eyeliner in 02 – If you’re a regular reader you’ll know I love Kiko products, and this beautiful and unusual shade of eyeliner is from the Rebel Romantic collection. Shade 02 is a deep warm brown, with the tiniest hint of reddish purple. It’s a creamy matte shade that’s perfect for wearing every day.
  • Borneo is a lovely warm lipliner which I’ve found myself reaching for lately. It has creamy formula that perfectly defines the lips while preventing lipstick from bleeding and feathering throughout the day.

autumn-lip-colours

autumn-liquid-lip-colours

And a couple more beautiful lip colours…

  • – This is my first and only Kat Von D product, and I’m a little bit in love. Lolita is a stunning mauve that’s perfect for the 90’s lip trend that’s so popular at the moment, and it really is ever lasting! Make sure your lips are well prepared before application and this will literally last all day.
  • – Another recent discovery, the Urban Decay High Colour Lipglosses really give fantastic intense pigmentation for a gloss. The shade Liar is a gorgeous muted mid pink. It’s currently living in my bag as I wear it all the time!

Eye-of-Horus-Sheba-Mystical-Goddess-Eye-Shadow-Palette

Eye-of-Horus-Sheba-Mystical-Goddess-Eye-Shadow-Palette-swatches

And lastly the beautiful  –

I haven’t used Eye of Horus products for a while, but I have a few of their eyeliner pencils which are fantastic, so I was excited to see what their brand new eyeshadow palettes were like. And as expected, I wasn’t disappointed!

The gorgeous Mystical Goddess Eyeshadow Palette contains three intense metallic shades in a slimline cardboard palette with a double ended brush. The shades are: Artifact – ivory with golden nude undertones, Enchantress – bronzed shimmering nude and Royal Abyss – a deep royal plum.

They all have a stunning high metallic finish, and are soft, blendable and easy to work with. They can also be applied wet if you wish for a more intense look. I really am very impressed with this palette, I’ll be getting a lot of use out of it over the coming months no doubt!

I’d love to hear if you have any of these products? And what your go-to beauty products are for autumn?

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Cohorted September Beauty Box | Review

Posted on September 13, 2015

cohorted-september-box-review

Hi Guys!

September’s Cohorted box has just landed, and boy is it a good one! Here’s what’s included –

  • theBalm Nude Tude Eyeshadow Palette, worth £35.00
  • theBalm Put A Lid On It Eyelid Primer (3.7ml) worth £2.64
  • Gucci Premier Shower Gel (50ml) worth £7.50
  • NARS Velver Matte Lip Pencilin Walkyrie, full size worth £19.00
  • Molton Brown Seamoss Bath & Shower Gel (50ml) worth £6.00

Total value = £70.14

What an amazing selection hey!

cohorted-september-box

The stand-out product from this month’s box is easily the theBalm Nude Tude Eyeshadow Palette. I can’t tell you how excited I was to find this in my box, I’ve been keen to try theBalm products for a while now but just hadn’t got around to buying anything yet. The Nude Tude Eyeshadow palette is one of their most famous products, containing a selection of 12 nude toned eyesahdows, from the lightest white shade to almost black. This palette contains mostly shimmer shades (with only four mattes) and they’re just so pretty. This palette is perfect for every day wear, as well as creating a smoky eye. I’ll have a full review coming up on it soon.

Cohorted have also included a sample of theBalm’s Put A Lid On It Eyelid Primer. This is quite a small sample with only 3.7ml of product, but there’s easily enough there to give you a handful of uses – so it’s definitely a great introduction to the brand’s products. I’ll be trying this out with the Nude Tude Eyeshadow palette so I’ll report back on my findings then!

Next is the Gucci Premier Shower Gel. This is reminiscent of July’s box which included a Gucci Guilty Black Shower Gel in 50ml, also worth £7.50. As I said with July’s product, this is not something I’d usually purchase, but it really does smell delicious and I’m glad it was in this month’s box.

I’m always happy to receive a Molton Brown product, and this Seamoss Bath & Shower Gel is just lovely. It has a beautifully fresh and light scent, which in my opinion is very unisex. I just love Molton Brown bath goodies, so my only complaint is that I wish it was a bigger bottle! (FYI this product is no longer available at Molton Brown, I understand it’s actually been replaced by the Samphire range)

And lastly, the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Walkyrie. I’m SO happy to find this in my box! I have a few NARS Velvet Matte pencils already and they’re just amazing. Their matte pencil in Dragon Girl is one of my favourite products ever for a red matte lip 🙂 Walkyrie (which I have no idea how to pronounce) is a beautiful pinky-brown toned nude. It definitely has a 90’s / Kylie Jenner element to it too, so if that’s your kind of thing, I’d highly recommend trying this pencil out!

Overall this is another amazing box from Cohorted, for less than £20 you really can’t expect much more. Well done Cohorted, keep up the good work!
