NEW L’Oreal Paris Infallible Sexy Balms #SuperBalm

Posted on June 28, 2016

NEW-LOreal-Infallible-Sexy-Balms

Hi Guys!

The latest offering from L’Oreal Paris has just landed – the Infallible Sexy Balms!

The idea of a Sexy Balm (which I do feel a bit silly saying if I’m to be honest) is that it’s an on-the-go, wherever-you-are, throw it on and Bob’s your uncle kind of product. This isn’t a precision application lip product, it’s super easy to use as well as being packed with a ton of moisture to keep lips feeling nothing less than fabulous for up to 12 hours.

The Sexy Balm formula is enriched with a moisturising gel balm, giving a weightless silky velvet texture and vibrant pigmentation, for colour that packs a punch. And there are two finishes available – Sheer for a subtle tint of moisturising colour, and Bold for a more intense and daring look.

LOreal-Infallible-Sexy-Balms-sheer-review

The Sheer Colour Sexy Balms come in five shades –

  • 102 Gossip – a light nude peachy pink.
  • 103 As If – a mid nude pink.
  • 104 Break the Rules – a muted coral pink.
  • 109 Such A Babe – a bright orange toned red.
  • 111 Go Pretty or Go Home – a bright purple toned fuchsia.

LOreal-Infallible-Sexy-Balms-sheer-swatches

The Sheer shades are amazingly moisturising, just like a lip balm, and they smell super sweet and juicy. If you have dry lips like I do these are definitely a must have for your handbag this summer! I’ve been trying out a couple of shades since yesterday and I haven’t needed to apply an actual lip balm once – I usually apply balm at least once or twice a day – so these definitely get a thumbs up from me.

LOreal-Infallible-Sexy-Balms-bold-review

And the Bold Colour Sexy Balms come in three shades –

  • 202 Adventure – an intense bright fuchsia pink.
  • 204 Never Stop – a bright orange coral.
  • 203 Yala Yolo – an intense bright blue toned red.

LOreal-Infallible-Sexy-Balms-bold-swatches

The Bold shades are amazingly bright and intensely pigmented, with a satin sheen finish. These are also surprisingly moisturising and feel really comfortable on the lips.

LOreal-Infallible-Sexy-Balms-review

I have to say the Sexy Balms are definitely one of my favourite L’Oreal products of late, they tick all the boxes for me – moisturising, easy to use and wear, and I love that L’Oreal have included two formulas for both sheer and full on looks.

L’Oreal Sexy Balms are £4.99 each and available now at Boots.

NARS-Summer-2016-Under-Cover-Collection-review Hi Guys!

I have NARS’ latest collection to share with you today – this is the limited edition Under Cover Collection for Summer 2016. It comprises of a selection of Dual Intensity Eyeshadows, Dual Intensity Blush Duos and brand new Lip Cover’s in limited edition hand drawn packaging…

nars-summer-2016-collection

For Summer 2016, NARS makes a getaway with this limited-edition collection—high-fashion moments steeped in exclusivity and ease. New, rich Lip Covers saturate lips with coastal color, while Dual-Intensity Eyeshadows transform sheer tones and glistening shades for eyes. Dual-Intensity Blush completes the look with a touch of the sun – an insatiable rush of blush.

Isn’t the packaging just gorgeous!? It’s very chic, very French – very NARS…

The illustrations were designed by contemporary artist Konstantin Kakanias – taking inspiration from an editorial photo shoot, he aimed to capture the wit and wonder of François Nars behind-the-scenes world, and bring each moment to life in his fun and quirky illustrations.

NARS-Summer-2016-Under-Cover-Collection-dual-intensity-eyeshadow-topless

Let’s start by looking at the Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow (£21.00) – if you’re not familiar with NARS’ Dual Intensity products, the clue really is in the name! These products are specifically formulated to be used both dry, for a sheer finish, or wet, for an increased intensity, high impact finish.

The Under Cover Collection contains four Dual Intensity Eyeshadow shades (out of 21 available at NARS in total)

  • Topless – seashell pink.
  • Pool Shark – iridescent periwinkle.
  • Deep End – shimmering teal green.
  • Tan Lines – rich hazelnut.

I have shade Topless, which is a pretty nude beige pink, with a hint of shimmer, and NARS advise using their Wet / Dry Eyeshadow #49 brush with these shadows, as this is designed specifically for both wet and dry application. I’m definitely a fan of this shade used both wet and dry – the formula has a wonderfully smooth texture with a luxe feel, as expected from NARS, and it’s just a joy to apply and wear.

NARS-Summer-2016-Under-Cover-dual-intensity-blushers

Next the Dual-Intensity Blush (£30.00) – NARS have added two new Dual Intensity Blush duos to the six they already had on offer –

  • Liberation – shimmering light pink and caramel rose.
  • Sexual Content – sandy peach and soft raspberry.

Just like the above eyeshadows, the Dual Intensity Blush duos can be used both wet and dry, depending on how intense you want your look to be. They also feature NARS’ exclusive Translucent Prismatic Technology which utilises pearls and pigments to allow for multi-dimensional effects with a uniquely weightless, luxurious texture.

The formula is wonderfully silky and looks fabulous applied dry especially, giving skin a luminous, healthy glow.

NARS-Summer-2016-Under-Cover-dual-intensity-blush-liberation

Liberation – the light pink shade in this duo is really pretty, it gives my fair skin a sheer tint of colour.

NARS-Summer-2016-Under-Cover-dual-intensity-blush-sexual-content

Sexual Content – this is definitely my favourite of the two blush duos. The colours are slightly softer and easier to wear (on my pasty skin anyway!)

NARS-Summer-2016-Under-Cover-Collection-lip-cover

And lastly the Lip Cover (£21.00) – I wasn’t too sure what to expect with this one, I was thinking more along the lines of a liquid lipstick than a gloss, and technically it is a liquid lipstick, but it doesn’t dry and set on the lips like you would expect. The Lip Cover formula stay fluid – but not sticky – meaning they’re super comfortable to wear and not drying at all.

But, like a standard liquid lipstick they are super highly pigmented – which I just love. The colour saturation luminous finish really is a winning combination!

The Lip Covers come in four shades, ranging from easy to wear nude pinks, to bright and vivid reds and oranges –

  • Overheated – deep dusty rose.
  • Do Not Disturb – vivid orange-red.
  • Get Dirty – desert rose.
  • Members Only – crimson.

So there we have it – what a gorgeous collection! I have to say the Lip Covers really are fabulous, and if you’re a fan of liquid lipsticks, I’d really recommend you try these out.

The limited edition NARS Under Cover collection is available now at .

Going Nude With Soap And Glory!

soap-and-glory-nude-lipsticks

Hi Guys!

I’m a massive Soap & Glory fan, and I’m always excited when they bring new products out – well they’ve just introduced 24 brand new Sexy Mother Pucker Lipsticks to their range! The lipsticks have been separated into three categories: , and ,  with eight lipsticks in each group. The lipsticks also come in three different finishes, including Powder-Coat Matte, Silk-Coat Satin and Glass-Coat High Shine, so there really is something for everyone…

soap-and-glory-sexy-mother-pucker-nude-lipsticks

The creamy formula boasts hydra-boosting Moisture Wrap Technology to keep lips conditioned, in three finishes –

Matte – These were not as flat a matte as I was expecting, if you know what I mean! This isn’t necessarily a bad thing though as they wern’t too drying on the lips either. The matte shades are highly pigmented and have a very slight sheen finish.

Satin – One of my favourite finishes, the satins have the best of both worlds giving great colour payoff with the comfort of a shine, leaving a smooth satiny finish on the lips.

Shine – The one shine shade I have isn’t quite as glossy as I was expecting, it’s more of a shinier satin, offering pretty, sheer colour payoff.

Shades from left to right –

  • Nude edition (satin) – light peach toned nude.
  • 5th Avenue (matte) – light nude pink.
  • Naked Talent (satin) – mid coral toned nude.
  • Barely Pinking (shine) – mid nude pink.
  • Cinnamon Beige (matte) – mid mauve brown nude.

soap-and-glory-sexy-mother-pucker-nude-lipsticks-review

After trying all of these lipsticks, I’ve been really struggling to decide on a favourite. I think if you pushed me I’d have to say Barely Pinking though, as the shade suits my skin tone, and the formula feels wonderfully smooth and silky to wear.

Soap & Glory’s Sexy Mother Pucker Nude Lipsticks are £9.00 each, but are currently on offer online only for £7.00 at .

Illamasqua Hypnotica Summer Collection

Illamasqua-Hypnotica-Summer-Collection

Hi Guys!

Illamasqua are back on the blog today with their brand new summer makeup collection! Hypnotica is all about freedom of expression, diversity and fearless experimentation…

An explosion of colour, creativity and fearless self expression. Illamasqua’s spirited new collection celebrates the diverse ways of expressing out individuality by being bright, bold and fearless while conjuring feelings of fun, freedom and unity.

illamasqua-lava-lips-review

Starting with the rather exciting Lava Lips Lipstick in Activist (£19.50) – this amazing looking marbled lipstick contains vivid sky blue and bright intense pink lipsticks, swirled together to give a marbled finish. The colours blend together on application to create a new vibrant lip colour with a smooth, satin-matte finish.

I had a feeling this might a apply streaky, because well it seem likely doesn’t it! But it really doesnt. The formula is creamy and smooth, and feels great on the lips, even though it’s a matte. It’s not what I’d call a full on matte, if you know what I mean, which can also be very drying, this is more of a satiny formula and lovely to wear.

illamasqua-new-products-rview

Next we have the Sketch Sticks (£15.00) – these are multi-use crayons with powerful pigment pay off. The Sketch Sticks come in seven bright and bold shades, and I love that you can literally use them anywhere you like! The creamy formula means they blend easily too, so wether you want to apply them to face or body, wear them as makeup, or draw silly pictures on yourself, you can do what you like with them! I think these sticks really are perfect for festival season. The shades available are –

  • Fly – hot pink.
  • Free – cornflower blue.
  • Trace – bright orange.
  • Higher – bright yellow.
  • Spirit – pure white.
  • Haze – jet black.
  • Trip – acid green.

illamasqua-lip-slick-stick-review

And the Lip Slick Stick in Dream (£18.50) – this is an intensely pigmented, retractable lip crayon, perfect for creating long-lasting definition. This creamy, water-resistant liner glides over lips effortlessly and once set it does not shift. This only comes in one shade Dream which is a gorgeous nude brown – this is perfect for lining the lips to enhance their shape, as well as preventing colour bleed or of course you can apply over the entire lip for intense matte colour.

illamasqua-dolly-eyelashes-review

And lastly the False Eyelashes in Dolly (£11.00) – at first I thought these were a little small and boring for a brand like Illamasqua – then I realised these are bottom lashes for the lower lash line, and suddenly they made complete sense! These lower lashes are perfect to create a fun 60’s Twiggy / dolly look.

illamasqua-swatches

And of course some swatches. Left to right –

  • Lava Lipstick in Activist
  • Sketch Stick in Fly
  • Sketch Stick in Higher
  • Lip Slick Stick in Dream

Illamasqua-Hypnotica-Summer-Collection-review

Ok so I’m completely in love with these products, and everything they stand for. To me, makeup should be fun, experimental and colourful, and that’s just what this collection is about, and that’s also why I love Illamasqua as a brand. If you’re wanting to experiment with colour and looking for a product that packs a punch, I’d highly recommend the Sketch Sticks!

Cohorted June 2016 Beauty Box Review

Posted on June 14, 2016

cohorted-beauty-box-review-june-2016

Hi Guys!

As ever it doesnt seem like a week has passed since the last box arrived, and now June’s Cohorted box has just landed on my doormat! Let’s take a look what’s included in this months box –

  • HD Brows Eye & Brow Palette in Foxy, worth £25.00.
  • NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil, in Sierra, worth £20.00.
  • James Read Instant Bronzing Spray, worth £25.00.
  • Lord & Berry Supreme Iridescent Eyeliner, in Smart Blue, worth £12.00.

Total value of box = £82.00.

Ok, so this box probably isn’t the most exciting I’ve seen from Cohorted (it would have been nice to receive five products rather than four) never the less at £82.00 it is a high value box, and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and trying everything out…

I’m a big fan of NARS lip products, especially their Velvet Matte Lip Pencils, so I was really happy to find one in this months box! The shade Sierra is not really my colour though unfortunately – it’s kind of a burnt sienna / orange shade, which I think would look amazing on darker skin tones, but it doesn’t really do much for my pasty complexion! The booklet does say ‘mixed’ for the shade though, so it looks as though there will be a variety of shades on offer. I should also point out that though I’m not keen on this particular colour, I definitely think NARS’ Velvet Matte Lip Pencils are one of the best matte lipsticks you can buy.

The Lord & Berry Supreme Iridescent Eyeliner also caught my eye – you know how I love a blue eyeliner! Shade Smart Blue is a deep midnight blue with a metallic matte finish. It applies nicely and the formula is smooth and soft, but not too soft – I’m really happy this was in the box!

The HD Brows Palette also looks pretty good – this palette contains a highlighter, three brow shades (all matte pressed powder) and a clear wax for setting the brows, as well as a double ended brush. It’s also great that the shadows are dual purpose, so you can use them both as eyeshadow and for your brows.

And lastly the James Read Instant Bronzing Spray – I must admit I’m usually quite wary when it comes to fake tan as I’m pretty pale. The James Read Instant Bronzing Spray promises to deliver an all over golden tan with ease. I’ll be trying this out over the next few days so keep an eye on my snapchat (smiletrade) to see how I get on!

I’d love to hear if you picked up this box and what you thought of it?

models-own-500-piece-makeup-collection

Hi Guys!

Yes you did read that right, it’s not a typo – Models Own latest range of products contains not 5, not 50, but 500 different products, OMG! I mean what the heck? Just to give you a bit of an idea, here’s a list of JUST the eye products, not including any palettes, and not including the different shades available for each product –

  • Eye Base Eyeshadow Primer
  • MyShadow Powder Eyeshadow – Matte
  • MyShadow Powder Eyeshadow – Shimmer
  • MyShadow Powder Eyeshadow – Baked Marble
  • MyShadow Cream Eyeshadow
  • MyShadow Eyeshadow Dust
  • MyShadow Quad Powder Eyeshadow
  • MyShadow Finale (Eye makeup sealer)
  • Colour Chrome Eyeshadow Kit
  • i-Definer Kajal Kohl Liner
  • i-Definer Kohl Pencil Eyeliner
  • i-Definer Eyeliner Duo
  • i-Definer Liquid Eyeliner
  • i-Definer Felt Tip Ink Eyeliner
  • i-Definer Gel Eyeliner
  • Flawless Under Eye Concealer
  • Magic Mascara – Extreme Volumising
  • Magic Mascara – Waterproof
  • Magicwand
  • Hypereyes 3-in-1 Mascara
  • Hypereyes 3-in-1 Waterproof Mascara

So yeah you get the idea!

With such a massive new range it would seem that Models Own are making a clear statement that they’re not just a nail polish brand. They literally have something for every makeup need! There’s also plenty of tools and brushes in the collection (including some rather nice looking high shine Rose Gold brushes might I add) and some more unexpected items such as Hand Cream, Makeup Fixing Spray and Micellar Water.

models-own-new-makeup-collection

I have a small selection of these products to show you today – let’s get stuck in!

models-own-sweet-dreams-eyeshadow-palette

Starting with the Eyeyshadow Palette in Sweet Dreams (£14.99) – this is one of nine different palette options, each including a wide variety of eyeshadow shades. If you love neutrals there’s a palette for you, if you love neon brights, pastels, dark shades – there’s also a palette for you in this collection!

The Sweet Dreams palette contains a selection of pastels and brights, with both matte and shimmer finishes, as well as a double ended brush. The shadows are nicely pigmented and really easy to work with and blend.

models-own-eyeliner-and-eyebrow-pencil

Next we have the i-Definer Kohl Pencil Eyeliner in Electric Indigo (£5.99 – this is a gorgeous intense bright blue shade which is right up my street! This waterproof eyeliner pencil comes in a massive 16 different shades, the formula is smooth and applies easily to the lids without any dragging.

And the Now Brow! Eyebrow Pencil & Blender Duo in Chestnut 126 (£7.99) – this handy duo product includes a slanted eyebrow pencil at one end, and a blender at the other, so you can easily fill in brows with the pencil for a natural look, or blend out for more definition.

models-own-lipstick-and-blusher-stick

When it comes to adorning your lips, Models Own really couldn’t have made it easier – they have velvet lipsticks, matte lipsticks, liquid lipsticks, sheen lipsticks, lip stains, lip glosses, lip gunks (coming up below) lip liners, lip pencils, lips balms, a lip primer and a lip sealer… WOW! And take a breath! 🙂

The Luxestick Velvet Lipstick (£7.99) comes in 10 shades, and I have Plush Peony, an intense bright fuchsia shade. This is a nice lipstick but the pigmentation wasn’t quite as intense as I was hoping. If you’re looking for a highly pigmented lip product, I’d definitely recommend the Lip Gunk Glosses!

The Rock N Rosy Blusher Stick (£6.99) is a handy little twist up stick which is perfect for giving a pop of cream colour to the cheeks. I have shade Peach Pop which is a mid peach with a matte finish. It’s worth mentioning a little goes a long way with this product, it blends out really nicely though so you can wear it as sheer or as heavy as you like.

models-own-lip-gunk

models-own-liquid-highlighter-and-lip-paint

Next we have the Lip Gunk Kits (£10.99) – these come in two options: Metallic (6 shades) and Gloss (8 shades). Each mini kit contains a Lip Paint, a mini brush with its own lid and a mixing palette, all in a dinky little zip lock bag.

I have the Metallic Lip Gunk kit in Fusion, this is an intense bright blue. The formula has a super high shine metallic finish, which I love, but the Gloss Lip Gunk Kit definitely had the wow factor for me. I don’t really know what I was expecting, maybe a semi sheer red gloss? But this gloss in shade Wild is SO pigmented, I can’t even tell you! This product definitely gets top marks from me. (I should ask mention each kit contains a mini mixing tray, so you can mix different shades together to make your own customer lip colour – how awesome is that!)

And the Sculpt & Glow Liquid Highlighter (£9.99) – this liquid highlighter comes in four shades, and I have Rose Gold. Initially I thought this might be a bit orangey and dark for my pale skin tone, but it actually blends out sheer with less colour than I was expecting, and just gives the skin a nice healthy glow.

models-own-bronzer

The Sculpt & Glow Contouring Bronzing Powder (£8.99) – is a lovely little matte powder which can be used for bronzing and / or contouring depending on your preference. This product comes in four shades, and I have Deep Tan, which is quite a warm dark tan shade. Personally I think this would be too warm to contour with, but it would work great as a bronzer on darker skin tones.

models-own-kajal-kohl-eyeliner

Next the i-Definer Kajal Kohl Liner (£7.99) – though I’m not personally a fan of this style of eyeliner, I know many people love them, and I must say the i-Definer Kajal Kohl Liner does offer intense pigmentation – if you’re looking to try a new Kajal Kohl liner I’d definitely recommend checking this one out.

Well what a fantastic collection of products! My favourites are definitely the Lip Gunk Gloss which you really must check out, as well as the Blusher Stick 🙂

The full collection is available now at .

Sleek Makeup Whimsical Wonderland Collection & New Matte Me Lip Shades #SleekWhimsical

Posted on June 2, 2016

Sleek-Makeup-Whimsical-Wonderland-Collection

Hi Guys!

One of my favourite budget beauty brands is back on the blog today, with a whole new range of products! Sleek Makeup have just launched their limited edition Whimsical Wonderland collection, containing candy coloured lipsticks, brand new cheek stains and a pretty pastel toned eyeshadow palette – and in complete contrast they’ve also released six new deep mauve and wine shades of their Matte Me lipsticks…

Roll Up! Roll Up! Welcome to a Whimsical Wonderland of fun-filled fairground rides, candy floss and pastel prettiness! Our new limited edition Whimsical Wonderland collection takes a leap into the punchy pleasures of pastels and exciting summer hues. Try a quirky twist on vibrant eyeshadow, glisten pretty with shades for your cheeks and lips.

Stating with the All The Fun of the Fair i-Divine Palette – this palette has the same slim casing and 12 circular pans as the rest of the i-Divine collection palettes. The All The fun of the Fair palette contains a selection of pretty, summery pastel shades in both matte and shimmer finishes.

Sleek-Makeup-Whimsical-Wonderland-Collection-lipsticks

I’m completely in love with Sleek’s VIP Lipstick formula – it’s easily one of the best on the highstreet, and also one of my favourite budget lipsticks. The Whimsical Wonderland collection features three new Lip VIP Lipstick shades –

  • Big Shot – a bright warm coral peach.
  • Hottie Tottie – an intense coral toned pink.
  • Fancy Pants – a bright cool toned lilac.

Following the theme of the collection, these shades are bold, bright and fun. The formula is creamy and comfortable and the colour payoff is just amazing. The finish of the VIP Lipsticks is a velvety demi-matte, and the soft, creamy formula feels wonderful on the lips. These lipsticks are definitely a must have for fans of a bold and daring lip!

Sleek-Makeup-Whimsical-Wonderland-Collection-sweet-cheeks-review

Sleek have also introduced a brand now product with this collection – the Sweet Cheeks cheek stains. They have included three new Sweet Cheeks cheek colours which correspond with the above three VIP Lip shades –

  • Hullabaloo – intense pink.
  • Lickety Split – coral / orange.
  • Tomfoolery – violet toned fuchsia.

I must admit, the Sweet Cheeks stains do look a bit bright and intimidating on first glance, but you’ll be pleased to hear that the product has a silky and almost gel like formula, which applies quite sheerly for a flush of colour across the cheeks.

Sleek-Makeup-new-matte-me-lip-shades

And lastly the new Matte Me Lipsticks are just gorgeous! Matte lipsticks are everywhere at the moment, and Sleek’s offering definitely shouldn’t be overlooked – these six gorgeous shades range from mid pinks to deep reds and mauves – quite a contrast to the Whimsical Wonderland collection. Though some of these shades are on the darker side, they’re all completely wearable – I particularly love Velvet Slipper and Shabby Chic, which is the perfect my lips but better shade. The formula is slightly drying on the lips over time, but that’s to be expected with a matte liquid lipstick. These are really long lasting, and are definitely worth their £4.99 price tag.

  • Vino Tinto – a deep mauve wine.
  • Velvet Slipper – a mid mauve pink.
  • Bittersweet – a light peachy pink.
  • Shabby Chic – a light muted pink.
  • Fired Up – a true bright red.
  • Old Hollywood – a darker classic red.

Sleek-Makeup-Whimsical-Wonderland-Collection-review

Overall this is another fab collection of products from Sleek, and as ever both their VIP and Matte Me lipsticks really are fantastic – a definite must-try if you’re on the hunt for some new budget lippies.

The Whimsical Wonderland collection is available now from .
