Beauty: New La Petite Robe Noir Hippie Chic Collection from Guerlain

Posted on March 16, 2018

Hi Guys!

I’ve had a bit of a break, but I’m back today with some new beauty treats to share with you! It’s been quite a while since I’ve tried anything from Guerlain (one of my favourite luxury brands) but I now have a few of their brand new SS18 releases to try out, let’s take a look…

I’m a big fan of super lightweight liquid lipsticks, and the new Colour’Ink Liquid Lipstick has a an extremely light “no texture” effect, which sounds fantastic to me. The formula is spot on, being silky smooth and lightweight, feeling very much like a hybrid between a stain and a liquid lipstick. Application is easy and it’s great that the product is also buildable. A single layer gives a natural light tint effect, and two to three layers gives a more intense and striking result.

The Colour’Ink Liquid Lipstick is available in fifteen shades, I have L110 On Fleek, a light caramel nude shade, and L120 #Empowered, an intense true red, and there are also two Lip Transformers, specifically made to change the finish of your lip look.

The blue shade L101 #Adventurous, is made to be applied before your favourite liquid lipstick to give the colour a twist. I must admit, I didn’t really have my hopes up for this shade, it just looked so bright and a bit scary! I gave it a go though and this is where the buildabilty of the formula really comes into play. I tried a single (sheer) layer of the blue shade, which, on its own did make my lips look a bit ‘dead’, but, applying the red over the top actually gave a really nice deep reddish purple colour, and I was pleasantly surprised!

The other transformer (which I don’t have) is the Lip & Shine, this is a 2-in-1 product that can be used both as a base to moisturize the lips and as a top coat to change the finish of your liquid lipstick from matte to shiny.

Next I have Guerlain’s new Roll’ink Liner, which is extremely similar to MAC’s Roller Liner which was released last year (and I think there’s been another brand or two that have also released similar products). It features a super tiny ‘pizza cutter’ style wheel applicator, which is perfect for creating the finest lines with precision. The formula is an intense black, which promises to be no-transfer and waterproof, and after trying this out I can tell you it doesn’t move around of its own accord, but if you touch your eyes it will start to flake off. This is a great liner though that’s easy to use, and perfect for those looking for a really fine line.

And lastly, the Brow Duo – this nifty little 2-in-1 product includes a brow mascara at one end and a highlighter at the other, and comes in two shades. I have it in 10 Light, and I have to say I think this is my favourite product out of the bunch. The brow mascara has a small wand, which is perfect for larger or medium brows (it’d be too big for thinner brows though). You’re not going to get a full on intense ‘drawn on’ brow look with this product, but this is a good thing in my books. Instead it gives a great fuller, more natural look, providing definition and helping to fill in any gaps between hairs.

The highlighter is also lovely. It has a smooth creamy-texture, in a light champagne shade. This colour is perfect for lighter skin tones and works well as a brow bone highlight, as well as on the inner corner of the eyes.

All the above products are available now at ,  and .

Beauty: The Revlon Lip Wardrobe

Posted on February 5, 2018

Hi Guys!

I have a few new lip releases from Revlon to share with you today! Now I must admit, Revlon isn’t a brand that I’d usually gravitate towards – for no other reason than I’m just not really familiar with their products. So when they offered to send over their ‘Lip Wardrobe’ including a selection of their new lip launches, I jumped at the chance and thought this would be a great opportunity to get acquainted with the brand…

Firstly I have the  (£5.99) – these are kind of half way between a lipstick and a balm, in a long twist up tube. The Ultra HD Gel Lip Colours include hyaluronic acid for an ultra hydrating formula, and the gel stick promises to be intensely hydrating, offering lightweight colour pigments suspended in a clear gel base, with a creamy mango and whipped vanilla scent.

I think these are probably my favourite products out of the bunch. My problem is I more than often have dry lips, and I love wearing matte liquid lipsticks, which really don’t help. So a nice lightweight hydrating lip product is just what I need – I love that these have a decent amount of pigment for a light hint of colour, and feel moisturising and super comfortable to wear.

  • 720 HD Pink Cloud – a sheer petal pink.
  • 700 HD Sand – a sheer light apricot.

Next I have the (above top product, £6.99) and the  (bottom two shades, £6.99) – these products are both described as lightweight, high definition gel matte lip colours, offering a moisturising, velvety feel. They have the same light mango and vanilla fragrance as the above products. The original Matte Lip Colour comes in 7 shades, and the Matte Lip Colour Metallic comes in 5 shades.

The formula of these lipsticks is nothing like a traditional matte finish liquid lipstick, the product itself is very thick, yet it feels very light, smooth and moisturising on the lips – it really feels like you’re wearing a lip balm! They look particularly shiny on my swatches above but are way more matte when applied on the lips. I should also mention that they don’t ‘set’ or dry down like a traditional liquid lipstick, which is why they feel so hydrating. These products will move around and you’ll probably want to wear a lip liner too for definition.

  • 675 HD Infatuation – a deep burgundy
  • 705 HD Shine – a metallic mauve pink.
  • 690 HD Gleam – a metallic light peach.

For fans of a more traditional lipstick, there’s also the (£5.49) – these are formulated with microfine pigments, promising high-impact colour, with a smooth moisturizing feel.

These lipstick actually feel very similar on the lips to the Ultra HD Gel Lip Colors. They’re moisturising, and have more pigment, but a similar sheeny finish. I really like these and I think they’d definitely make great affordable day to day lipsticks.

  • 045 Naughty Plum – a mid muted plum.
  • 046 Bombshell Red – a slightly blue toned red.
  • 044 Bare Affair – a light peach toned beige.

And lastly the (£4.29) – promising longwearing definition, these lipliners help lip colour last longer and prevent feathering and bleeding. There’s not really too much I can say about these lip liners – they do the job! They’re not drying in any way, and they come with a built-in sharpener, which is very handy.

  • Plum – a mid toned pinky plum.
  • Nude – a light beige nude.

The above Revlon products are all available now at .

I’d love to hear if you use Revlon products, and what you’d recommend? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Beauty: Too Faced Peaches & Cream Collection

Posted on January 22, 2018

Hi Guys!

Before Christmas I was fortunate enough to be invited to the launch party for the brand new Too Faced store at Carnaby Street, London. This is pretty big news for the brand as it’s their first ever stand alone store worldwide – and the party was SO much fun! We got to check out loads of new products which are only available in the UK exclusively in store, and we were then transported (via rickshaw!) to the after party, it was the best night!

I was also given the most amazing goody bag at the event, containing absolutely loads of Too Faced products. The bag included pretty much the whole new Peaches & Cream Collection which I want to share with you today…

Starting with the (£33.00) – this gorgeous looking palette contains 12 matte eyeshadows in a selection of beautiful warm tones. The eyeshadow formula is infused with Too Faced’s exclusive Comfort Matte Technology, promising an easily bendable finish with intense colour payoff – and of course the whole palette smells of Peaches & Sweet Fig Cream! I’m so pleased that these eyeshadows applied just as nicely as I’d hoped – I won’t lie, the formula was a little on the stiff side, but not so bad that it caused a problem. If you’re looking for a warm toned matte-only palette this is definitely worth checking out.

I have a few of the cheek products too – the three above are all housed in similar peach shaped packaging, and all have a melting powder formula. This means they have a creamy texture which transforms into a lightweight powder on application. All three promise buildable, bendable colour, and have the same light peaches and cream scent.

The  in So Peachy (£25.00) can be used on both the face and lips, and I found it was easiest applied with fingers rather than a brush. The formula is creamy and velvety soft on the skin, giving a subtle and very pretty hint of colour on the cheeks. The  in Happy Face (£25.00) again has a creamy texture that turns powdery soft on application, and again I found application with fingers definitely worked the best. This highlighter is a light champagne colour, and gives a subtle shimmery highlight. And the  in Toasted Peach (£25.00) – just like the previous two, I applied this with my fingers but found this one a bit harder to work with. I felt like this was harder to blend out and look even, though somebody more skilled than me could probably make it work pretty easily!

If you prefer powder formulas to creams, Too Faced also have a (£25.00) which honestly is the prettiest product I’ve ever seen! The compact includes four blendable shades which combine to give a radiant complexion and a soft, flawless look. The compact has a light gold overspray, which only lasts for a few uses, and the actual product underneath has a really nice pearly satin finish with buildable colour that’s very flattering. This worked really well on my pale skin and gave my complexion a lovely natural looking glow.

And there’s also a (£25.00) – this is a translucent smoothing finishing powder with opal-correcting spheres to smooth harsh lines and blur imperfections. Though this powder appears peach coloured, it applies translucent and gives a super smooth, blurring effect that makes your skin look amazing! This powder also eliminates shine and just generally smoothes out the complexion – and I’m happy to say it doesn’t cling to dry areas. This is probably my favourite product out of the collection!

There is also a Peaches & Cream Foundation, which I don’t have, but I do have the (£20.00) – this is a universal peach tinted setting powder designed to brighten the skin and create a silky smooth matte canvas. This product is oil and shine free, transfer-resistant, and promises 14 hours of wear. The formula is talc based and is super finely milled, making it feel amazingly soft and silky on the skin, and thought it didn’t live up to the 14 hours as promised, a light dusting of this did keep my nose matte for over half the day, and it didn’t cling to my dry skin, so this is a winner in my books!

Now on to the (£27.00) – this is described as a refreshing, oil-controlling setting spray to keep makeup in place. It promises a matte finish, decreased shine and a soft-focus finish to blur imperfections, and it’s also supposed to last up to 16 hours. Again, the wear time has definitely been embellished here, but I did find that this gave my skin a lovely matte finish, which lasted around six hours or so.

And the (£27.00) – this is a cooling primer that helps to blur flaws and smooth the complexion with a brightening peach tint. It gives a soft-focus finish that’s lightweight and comfortable. It also promises 12 hours of shine control, which again I think is reaching a bit, but it is a nice primer that definitely gives your foundation a decent matte base.

And lastly, I have a couple of the (£19.00) – these lipsticks are of course packaged beautifully, and promise an intensely pigmented matte finish with eight hours of wear. The shades I have are Got Peach? a nude terracotta pink, and Where My Peaches At? which is a bright tangerine orange. Both shades are amazingly well pigmented and feel very comfortable and creamy on the lips. The finish isn’t a full on matte like you’d get with a liquid lipstick, but it’s still a very good demi-matte. These shades are really very nice but you’ll want to make sure your lips are in tip top condition before applying.

So what are my final thoughts? Well to begin with, the packaging is spot on. It’s cute, yet grown up and luxe feeling – definitely dressing table worthy. I absolutely loved the Just Peachy Mattes Eyeshadow Palette, Sweetie Pie Bronzer and Peach Blur Finishing Powder, and I’d highly recommend these if you’re looking to pick up a couple of items from the collection. Nothing was hideously bad in my books, though a couple of products could have been slightly better in terms of formula – and as a final thought, you should just be wary if you’re sensitive to or just not keen on scented products, as the whole collection is scented, with some products stronger than others. Personally I love the peachy scent, and I definitely think this collection is worth checking out of you’re a fan of Too Faced!

Beauty: Chanel AW17 Makeup Collection

Posted on January 19, 2018

Hi Guys!

I have a few gorgeous products from Chanel to share with you today – The Chanel AW17 beauty collection is based on travel, with each shade taking inspiration from a road trip around California. Chanel’s global creative makeup designer, Luca Pica has included some beautiful and very wearable shades in this collection. Read on to find out more –

Starting with the (£52.00) – this is a 3-in-1 face palette offering concealer, highlighter, and blush together in a handy compact, for a fresh and glowing complexion.

The concealer has a light, balmy texture, and it won’t give you full on heavy coverage, but it’s definitely handy for light to medium coverage of general imperfections. The highlighter and blush both have a cream formula, which I find works best by applying with fingers. The highlighter is a light creamy champagne colour, best suited to lighter skin tones (as is the whole palette really – I have the lightest option available, Beige Clair) and it gives a lovely glow to the cheekbones. The blush is also very good, easy to blend out and gives a natural looking flush of colour. I have to say I was a bit unsure of this palette to begin with, but it’s actually pretty great and very handy for touch ups when you’re out and about.

For lips I have the new Matte Liquid Lip Colour (£28.00) in shade 156 Lost. The Rouge Allure Ink is a weightless feel matte liquid lip colour, with fine and dense pigments, promising 8 hours of wear. It feels really comfortable to apply, and actually feels slightly moisturising, which is pretty unheard of for a matte liquid lipstick. The pigmentation of this shade isn’t fully opaque, and doesnt dry down to a true matte finish like most matte liquid lipsticks do. This is definitely a product for those wanting a matte lip look, without the drying effect of a traditional matte liquid lipstick.

If you’re into more classic lip products, the  (£28.00) in 474 Daylight could be more up your street. This is such a beautiful shade, it’s a light peachy nude that’s super hydrating and just feels wonderful on the lips. This is also in fact a new formula, and I’m definitely impressed! There are 24 shades available too so there should something to suit everyone.

For the eyes, the (£42.00) Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow in 286 City Lights is one of two new eyeshadow palettes. The shades in the City Lights palette are just stunning, they include a selection of nudes with a satiny shimmer finish, which kind of reminds me of Tom Ford’s famous Nude Dip Palette.

I honestly adore these shades! They’re perfect for a lighter, nude eye look which can be achieved with a light sweep of colour, or a more intense smoky eye, and the eyeshadow formula is just beautiful – they’re soft and buttery and blend together easily.

And I also have the (£31.00) – this eyeliner contains a high concentration of ultra-fine pigments for pure, intense and even colour, and a super soft, fine brush, for precision application. Interestingly, the eyeliner comes with the ink in a separate cartridge, like a fountain pen, so you need to insert this yourself – at least you know the product is ‘fresh’ and hasn’t been drying up on a shelf! This eyeliner gives an intense black line, that applies evenly and lasts all day.

And lastly I have the  (£20.00) – Chanel have added two new nail shades for AW17, there’s 576 Horizon Line, a muted steely grey, and the shade I have, 578 New Dawn, a light nude taupe, which I absolutely love – it’s the prefect nude taupe shade for paler gals like myself!

You can purchase all the above Chanel products now at .

The  is another fabulous fragrance set. Described as the most intimate of fragrances, La Femme is both instinctive and sophisticated, weaving a mesmerising trail around its wearer. The scent opens with notes of sultry Frangipani and Honey, leading to a heart of Ylang Ylang, Tuberose and, creamy Vanilla, with a seductive note of Vetiver in the base.

  • Top Notes: Frangipani and Honey
  • Heart notes: Tuberose and Ylang Ylang
  • Base notes: Vetiver and Vanilla

Continuing with fragrance, niche scents really have stolen my heart this year, and  is definitely a fragrance that should be on your radar. Close Up is in fact a collaboration between Olfactive Studio and established photographer Suren Manvelyan. It’s an intense dark woody gourmand fragrance, with notes of boozy and bitter sweet Cherry Liqueur, cool Star Anise and Green Coffee, which then gradually descends into a dark heart of Rose, Atlas Cedar, Patchouli and Amber, with a base of Ambergris, Musk and Tonka Beans.

  • Top Notes: Cherry, Coffee and Star Anise
  • Heart Notes: Atlas Cedar, Centifolia Rose, Patchouli and Tobacco
  • Base Notes: Ambergris, Musk and Tonka Beans

And lastly for fragrance,  is another niche scent that is definitely worth trying. Rose Millésimée is an ode to Centifolia Rose, described as an olfactory metaphor for a moment frozen in time, the reflection of a story, a region and a tradition of craftsmanship. This is easily the most beautiful rose fragrance I’ve ever had the pleasure of smelling – it’s a must try for fans of rose scents.

  • Top Notes: Spices
  • Heart Notes: Rose
  • Base Notes: Musk

Back to makeup now, this  is just perfect for somebody that loves their makeup conveniently packaged. This super chic glossy black box contains a selection of Givenchy makeup essentials, including eyeshadows, blush and highlighters on one side, and lip gloss, eyeliner and mascara on the other, with a handy mirror in the centre.

And last but not least, the  is a fantastic alternative to more ‘mainstream’ branded palettes. It includes four shades that can be used induvidually or layered effortlessly with perfection, to give natural definition to the eyes. I have the palette in 113 Hikarisango, which features a shimmering champagne highlight and vibrant coral hue, contrasted with a deep burgundy and brick brown. This is definitely one for fans of luxury makeup.

I’d love to hear if you’re picking up and luxury or high end beauty treats this Christmas? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Beauty: NEW YSL Tatouage Couture Matte Stain Liquid Lipsticks

Posted on October 31, 2017

Hi Guys!

The latest must-have releases from YSL have recently landed at TSNC HQ – the Tatouage Couture Matte Stain Liquid Lipsticks. These brand new liquid lip stains really are quite innovative, offering an ultra-luxe formula promising to deliver intense colour payoff, with a naked lip feel…

So is this a lip stain, or a liquid lipstick? Well actually the answer is both. Traditionally, liquid lipsticks have quite a thick, heavy formula, that feels fairly weighty and noticeable on the lips, and of course we all know liquid lipsticks are usually really drying too. So YSL have come up with a kind of hybrid product – the Tatouage Couture Matte Stain Liquid Lipsticks offer the best of both worlds –

Like a stain, the formula is amazingly lightweight and inky, and when you apply it, it really does feel like there’s nothing on your lips, maybe just the hint of a balm and that’s it. And also like a stain, these products do leave a stain behind after you’ve wiped them off (of course the brighter and deeper colours leave more intense stains)

But, like a liquid lipstick, they also have really good pigmentation. Don’t get me wrong, they’re not completely 100% opaque, but considering the weightless formula, I think YSL have done an excellent job of giving a remarkable amount of colour, without the heavy, drying feeling of a traditional liquid lipstick. I’d actually go so far as to say these are slightly moisturising too – who’d have thought we’d ever see this in a matte finish liquid lipstick!

The applicator is also like nothing I’ve ever seen before. It’s wide, flat and slanted, with a hollowed out section in the centre to pool the product ready for spreading on the lips. The pointed end really helps you apply with precision as the sharp edge is perfect for defining the lip line – you can really tell this product has been carefully thought out right to the finer details.

There are 18 shades available, and the ones I have above are –

  • 01 Rouge Tatouage – a true bright red.
  • 03 Rose Ink – an intense fuchsia pink
  • 08 Black Red Code – a deep burgundy red.
  • 09 Grenat No Rule – a blue toned red.
  • 11 Rose Illicite – a light baby pink.
  • 13 True Orange – a true intense orange.
  • 17 Unconventional Orange – a bright tangerine orange.

You can see that the only swatch that looked quite sheer was Rose Illicite, the baby pink shade. But this actually applied just as well as the others on the lips, giving great colour payoff.

If you’re a fan of matte finish liquid lipsticks, but not that heavy, drying feel on the lips, then I highly recommend you check these out.

The YSL Tatouage Lip Stains are £29.00 each and available now at ,  and .

Beauty: NEW ASOS Own Brand Makeup Collection

Posted on October 27, 2017

Hi Guys!

ASOS have been going for years now, and I’ve been a fan from the very beginning (remember when it was As Seen On Screen, anyone?) So I’m truly excited that they’ve now, finally brought out their own range of makeup…

The ASOS beauty collection contains pretty much everything you could want or need in terms of colour makeup (there are no bases such as foundations and primers included in the collection at the moment) Also, the majority of products are priced at well under £10, with the exception of the Eyeshadow Palette which is still very reasonable at £12.00.

The ethos of the collection is simply fun – there are no rules or limits. The products are straightforward, with cute packaging. There’s no supersonic ingredients here, no anti-ageing, anti-wrinkle, plump this, hide that, this is just straightforward no-frills colour makeup, for anyone and everyone to use as they please – which I LOVE.

Experience a more playful reality with the new ASOS Make-Up collection. It’s time for a new perspective on beauty, free from rules, limits and stereotypes. Express another side of yourself every day with our vibrant matte lipsticks, contouring palettes and shimmery eyeshadows.

Starting with complexion products, I have the  (£8.50) – which are currently available in two colours, Boast and BulletProof. Both are medium shades which will suit both light and medium skin tones. Shade Boast is more golden toned with a very slight touch of golden shimmer, and Bulletproof has a slightly more reddish tone, with a matte finish. Both are incredibly soft and easy to buff into the skin – I like Boast especially as the golden tone really makes my skin look warm and glowy.

And I also have two of the (£8.00) – these are also currently available in two shades, Acceptance, which is a matte rose pink, and Unbothered which is a light creamy peach with more of a satin finish. Though both are nice, I found Acceptance to have a slightly stiffer formula, with Unbothered being easier to apply and blend. I hope ASOS will be bringing out more shades as I’m personally a big fan of more peachy / coral toned blushers.

Next I have the (£9.00) – again two shades are currently available, Tenacious and Flawed. Tenacious is the lighter shade, giving a lovely champagne glow, and Flawed is a golden bronze, perfect for deeper skin tones. Both give the skin a really nice glowy highlight that you can easily blend out for a natural look. I really like the smooth creamy formula, and the twist up stick applicator means you can directly apply to the face and blend in with a finger – easy!

I also have one of the (£6.50) – these nifty little pots contain a wax under the lid, which you apply to the skin first as an adhesive for your glitter, then you unscrew underneath to reveal your pot of loose glitter. I have shade Nonchalant, which is a lilac glitter with blue and green reflects. This glitter can be used on your face, body, nails and hair, and I must admit I was a bit unsure about the wax at first, but after trying it out it really does a great job of keeping the glitter in place.

For pencils, I have two eyeliners and two lipliners. The  (£5.00) come in two shades, Pushy and Grounded. Pushy is an intense matte black, and Grounded is a metallic chocolate brown. Both give creamy intense colour, which literally won’t move once they’re applied – and they also come with an in-built sharpener at the base of pencil which is awesome!

The (£5.00) are pretty similar, there are three shades available of which I have two, 1/2 Full, a bright red, and Sturdy which is a nude beige. In the same style as the eyeliners, they have a fine tip and come with a handy sharpener in the base of the pencil. The texture of the pencils is smooth and easy to apply without any dragging, and they’re also smudge proof.

Next the (£12.00) – there are four available at the moment, all in fairly muted, neutral tones. I have Strong, which is a palette of cool, smokey eyeshadows, including four shimmer and two matte shades. There’s not really too much you can say about this except the shadows are really nice, well pigmented and soft enough to apply well, but not so soft that you get fall out. This is a fab little palette, and small enough to pop in your handbag which is aways a point for me!

And I have to say I’m really loving the (£6.00) – I have shade Vigilant, which is a true gold with a metallic finish. It has a fine brush for detailed application (I just want to note that I’ve applied it quite thickly on my hand swatch above) and dries down to a high shine metallic finish that doesn’t budge.

I also have the  (£8.00, not shown) – this comes in one shade, Bossy which is a rich black colour. I have to say though the formula seemed good (not clumpy, coated well etc) I found the brush to be too big! The brush on this mascara is pretty massive, and too big for my stumpy little lashes unfortunately. If you’re a fan of a large mascara brush though, this could be perfect for you.

On to  (£7.00) now – ASOS have a selection of shades available in both Matte and Satin finishes. Above I have –

  • A Game – a matte orange red shade
  • Owned – an intense true red with a satin finish
  • Steely – a matte peachy pink
  • Out There – a matte bright orange

You can see by my swatches that the pigmentation is very impressive, both finishes give true, intense colour, as well as fantastic coverage. I’m now in love with Owned, it’s just such a beautiful shade, and the satin finish is super creamy and comfortable to wear. This is definitely my favourite!

And lastly the  (£7.00) – currently there are four shades available on the site, of which I have three. Prove It is the most gorgeous intense bright red shade, Overqualified is a pretty nude pink, and Immersed is a nude griege. The formula is thick and moussey, and not runny or liquid in any way. They dry down really quickly and leave lips with a super pigmented matte finish that lasts for hours.

Overall I’m incredibly impressed with the ASOS Makeup collection – apart from a couple of personal quibbles, everything really is fantastic. From the packaging to the formulas, ASOS really have hit the mark with these products – and with the price point being so reasonable too, they’re definitely worth checking out. If you’d like any further info or swatches (as I didn’t manage to include all of them) please just shout and I’ll be happy to help.

The above products are all available now exclusively at .
