I Heart Makeup | Haul, Review & Swatches

Posted on June 26, 2014

Hi Guys!

So here is my I Heart Makeup review post! You may have seen my introduction post the other day telling you about the brand new division of Makeup Revolution. I Heart Makeup is different to Makeup Revolution as it’s classed as ‘fast fashion makeup’, so fingers crossed there will be exciting frequent new products on sale then! They very kindly sent me a selection of products from the new range to try out and play with, and here they are! I have the I Heart My Lips lipstick in Heart Attack, Lip Geek lipstick in Love The Confidence, I Want Candy Blush in Blushing and Slogan Palette in Explicit Content.

I Heart Makeup currently have two types of lipstick on sale. There’s the I Heart My Lips Lipstick, at £2.49 which comes is in a black casing and the lipstick itself is heart shaped with a lighter colour running through the centre. The other is the Lip Geek Lipstick, £2.99, which is ‘normal’ looking rather than heart shaped, and comes in a high shine pink and purple casing but this one also comes in a black box with embossed metallic lettering.

I had a feeling the I Heart My Lips lipstick was going to be a bit sheer and balmy looking. I wondered if maybe this is because it kind of reminded me of a lipstick a little girl might have, you know the ones that are very sheer and not really a lipstick? This must be just because it’s heart shaped! Anyway this was not the case at all. You can see from the above swatch that it’s a gorgeous intense bright red colour. It has a satin finish and was also really moisturising and comfortable to wear. The Lip Geek Lipstick was not quite as moisturising and slightly sheerer, it also had the slightest hint of sparkle. Both are great bargains at less than £3 each, but the I Heart My Lips lipstick was definitely a favourite for me.

i-heart-makeup-blush-review i-heart-makeup-blush-swatch

Next up is the blush. Now I’m not actually sure which blusher this is, it just says ‘Blushing’ on the back but I can’t actually see this shade on the website. So I don’t know if there’s been a mistake or if this just isn’t for sale yet. I’ll find out what’s going on and I’ll update this post! Anyway, I absolutely love this blush, it’s a light muted beige pink and it’s the perfect accompaniment to my Kelly Osbourne Jolly Good Mineralize Skinfinish! The blush in the Jolly Good compact is more like a highlighter, and this I Heart Makeup blush is just the perfect colour to wear with it, just like the MSF the finish is satin and gives a hint of glow which I love!

And now on my favourite item of the bunch, the palette! The Explicit Content palette is one of four ‘Slogan’ palettes. This one has a mixture of 36 matte and shimmer shades ranging from nudes to more intense colours and it costs £7.99. It’s worth mentioning the casing is pretty awesome too, if you tilt it backwards and forwards you can see different images!

My initial thoughts were that this would be similar to the What You Waiting For Makeup Revolution palette, as it’s made by the same company. The matte shades weren’t so great on the What You Waiting For palette so I kind of expected the same with Explicit Content. Luckily with this one though the majority of shades are shimmers, with only six of the shades having a matte finish.

The colours on first glance look awesome! I love the warm golden tones and the intense blues! On closer inspection a few of the shades are a little bit ‘samey’ for my liking, but overall there’s a decent range of colours. I decided to start off by swatching one colour that stood out to me from each column of shadows. I’ve marked below so you can see the ones I chose. (FYI the first two and second from last are matte shades)

Ok so here are the swatches, and as predicted the shimmers were pretty much fantastic, and the mattes were unfortunately a bit of a let down. The shimmer colours were buttery soft and were so pigmented, you wouldn’t think they were from a budget palette at all. The mattes on the other hand were pretty chalky and hard to work with.

Just look at that amazing burnt orange!! I can’t wait to try some looks out with these colours!

So the only let down here are the mattes unfortunately, but at least there’s only six of them! So you still have 30 great shimmer eyeshadows here for £7.99 – it’s still a fab budget buy!

So what do you think about this little lot? Does anything catch your eye?

I hope you enjoyed my post 🙂 xxx

MAC Kelly Osbourne Mini Haul | Review & Swatches

Posted on June 24, 2014

Hi Guys!

So finally I’ve gotten round to posting about my Kelly Osbourne purchases! I brought these as soon as they appeared on the Selfridges site a couple of weeks ago, and I’m glad I snapped them up when I did, they sold out pretty much straight away!

So what’s this collection about? (As if you didn’t know!)

The most fabulous mother-daughter duo of Sharon and Kelly Osbourne come to M·A·C with a two-part collection of statement-making hues for eyes, lips, face and nails. Here, the inimitable Kelly Osbourne collaborates on a collection of fearlessly vibrant hues and tools for eyes, lips and face. Bloody Brilliant Quad Eye Shadow x 4 in pale lilac and blackened plum complement Lipstick in bright pink, orange and light lavender. Cool beige and soft pink Mineralize Skinfinish Duo highlights skin in a luxurious, mineral-rich formula for a polished perfect finish. Limited-edition packaging in Kelly’s iconic light violet with signature in red.

I wasn’t really interested in anything from Sharon’s collection, nothing appealed to me except for possibly the eyeshadow palette, but I already have lots of brown eyeshadows so I decided to pass on that. But Kelly’s collection on the other hand really caught my eye, especially the lipsticks and the mineralise skin finish duo powder and blusher. So I bought three out of the four lipsticks and the Mineralize Skinfinish Duo Powder!

The packaging for Kelly’s collection is a pearlescent lilac colour, to reflect the colour of her hair (I want my hair this colour too!) And unfortunately I’m not keen on it. It’s not the colour necessarily, but after the fabulous Proenza SchoulerAlluring Aquatic and Pedro Lourenco collections, the Kelly packaging is a bit of a let down. It’s just a bit light and plasticy. It feels a bit cheap. Never mind, anyway on to the lipsticks!

I purchased Kelly Yum Yum, a bright blue pink satin, Dodgy Girl, a light lavender matte, and Strip Poker, a light nude matte. I’m kind of torn because I do love a matte finish, but often my lips do not as they can be on the dry side. I absolutely love the colour of Dodgy Girl, and the matte finish wasn’t too drying so this is definitely a keeper! On the other hand Strip Poker, the other matte lipstick, was just not the right shade for me. You win some you lose some hey! Buy Kelly Yum Yum probably just pips Dodgy Girl as my favourite because I love the gorgeous vibrant bright pink colour and the satin finish is really forgiving and super comfortable to wear.

And finally the gorgeous Mineralize Skinfinish Duo in Jolly Good –

Two luxurious formulas in one compact. Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in light cool beige, a luxurious velvet-soft powder with natural finish and Mineralize Blush in soft pale pink. Adds buffed-up highlights to cheeks and brows, or an overall polish to the face. Limited-edition packaging in Kelly’s light violet with red signature.

Again I’m very happy with this product. About a third of it is apparently a blush (says MAC) but I’d say it’s more of a highlighter, MAC described as a soft pale pink, which it is, but it’s not really dark enough to be a blush in my opinion. It also has a slight hint of gold sparkle. The other two thirds of the compact is a gorgeous light coloured bronzer, described by MAC as a light cool beige, it’s definitely a very light colour, with a golden satin finish. I knew as soon as I saw this compact that I would love it! The bronzer powder is gorgeously soft and perfect to add just a hint of colour to my fair skin tone. It leaves your complexion with a subtle glow which is exactly the look I love! If you have dull skin I’d definitely recommend this! The highlighter / blush is not quite as exciting, it’s more on the powdery side but still a fab product!

So there we have it, mostly thumbs up all round from me! Did you grab anything from Kelly’s collection? I’d love to hear if you did! xxx

I Heart Makeup by Makeup Revolution – New Division | Overview!

Posted on June 23, 2014

Hi Guys!

So today I have another  post for you! These guys have been very busy bees! They’ve just gone and launched a whole new division to their brand called . I Heart Makeup can be found on the Makeup Revolution site, (link on the far right of the home page). I heart Makeup is described as ‘fast fashion makeup’ so from this alone I would expect frequent new products, exciting launches and of course the high quality and fab prices I’m used to from Makeup Revolution!

The I Heart Makeup range includes lip glosses, lipsticks, blush, bronzer, highlighter and a large selection of eyeshadow palettes. Prices are similar to Makeup Revolution with lipsticks and glosses being the cheapest priced at £2.49. The product themes are very ‘now’ with the ‘Slogan’ palette rage of four different eyeshadow palettes including names such as #Selfie and No Photos Please. There is also another range of four palettes called the ‘Wonder Palettes’ which includes two chocolate themed palettes and two heart themed palettes.

The whole range of cosmetics is all very fun and non serious! And sometimes that’s exactly what makeup should be! There’s also heart shaped lipsticks, and heart shaped bronzers and highlighters – very cute!

So I’ve included a few images below to whet your appetite, and I have a couple of products to review which will be on the blog by the end of the week! If you’re interested in Makeup Revolution products, I also have an eyeshadow palette review and purple edit review you should check out!

Wantable June Makeup Box | Review

Posted on June 21, 2014

wantable makeup june

Hi Guys!

It’s that time again! I’m a bit late with my Wantable review this month due to my birthday, so I’m now trying to catch up with my posts 🙂 This month’s Wantable makeup box included a lipstick, blush and highlighter duo, pressed powder and eyeliner gel.

How does it work? If you haven’t seen my other reviews, I’ll give you a quick rundown. With Wantable you firstly choose your category (makeup, accessories or intimates) then answer some questions so they know which styles you like, and which you don’t like. You can then subscribe for $36 (£21.16) a month or $40 (£23.51) for a one off box – it’s also handy to know you can skip a box or cancel your subscription at any time.

First up is the Mirabella Lip Colour in Nude ($22)

Rich, high-pigmented fashion shades go on smoothly and stay put.

Good points: This is a gorgeous neutral pink colour which would be great for every day wear. It’s creamy and moisturising but not completely opaque. I imagine this will be one of my go-to pink lipsticks this summer!

Not so good points: None.

tara tarantino cream blush

tara tarantino dollskin swatch

Tara Tarantino Dollskin Creme Blush in Mr. Pink ($28.00)

This exquisite blush duo blends effortlessly on your cheeks with the subtle glisten of Sparklicity, now in powder form! This velvety cream to powder blush formulation acts as a magnet for Sparklicity powder giving long lasting fantastic results which leaving skin moisturised and healthy looking.

Good points: The creme blush is a great consistency, it looks bright but it can we worn very sheer and can be built up. The packaging also feels high quality.

Not so good points: The glitter in the shimmer section is made of very large particles, I’m afraid wouldn’t use this.

vicent longo pressed powder

Vincent Longo Pressed Face Powder in Golden Banana ($28.00)

One of the softest, lightest weight powders available in a compact form. By triple milling the powder and using real silk fibres, the powder becomes ultra fine and smooth to the touch. Blends completely into foundation and concealer leaving no residue for a totally invisible finish. Absorbs surface oils and sets foundation to maintain a smooth matte finish through out the day.

Good points: The powder is very finely milled making it velvety soft. The finish isn’t completely translucent and it gives a slight colour which is quite fair.

Not so good points: None.

ofra fixline eyeliner gel

Ofra Fixline Eyeliner Gel ($14.99)

This eyeliner gel provides a fine line without flakes or cracking. Long wearing and smudge resistant.

Good points: The colour is a deep, pigmented black, and it it easy to apply.

Not so good points: I think it’s mainly due to my eyeliner brush being too thick, but I did find this product difficult to create a fine line. I’ve had other gel eyeliners which have been solid in a glass jar, whereas this was wet and kind of runny, I’m not really a fan of this formula but maybe I’m just not used to it!.

Well overall this is another good box, worth a total of $92.99 (54.66) it hasn’t been the best but I’m really happy with the lipstick and pressed powder, these will definitely get used! I hope you enjoyed my review xx

A Classic Red Lip Look

Posted on June 13, 2014

classic look

Hi Guys!

I thought it’s about time I did some more looks posts! I haven’t done any at all this year so now I’ve got my awesome new ring light especially for blogging I really want to get back into it!

I wore my favourite wig to the Jarrold Blogger Event last week, so I made a point of taking a few photos before I went out so you can see how I wore it! It’s such a gorgeous wig, made of the highest quality fake hair, you can literally just throw it on and go! I teamed it with neural eye makeup and a bright red lip for a classic look.

classic look eye

(This is my first picture with my new ring light, I’m so happy with it!!)

I’m loving the Maybelline Color Tattoo eye colour in On and On Bronze, it’s a gorgeous warm bronze shadow with a fab shimmer finish that’s easily buildable. I used the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette with this. I went with W.O.S which is a matte light nude pink, under the Maybelline as a base, Faint – a warm brown matte in the crease to add depth, and Venus – a soft white demi matte in the corner of my eye to highlight.

classic look eye closed

I also used the Maybelline Eye Studio Master Precise black pen eyeliner – it looks slightly wonky here but it looked pretty straight when I applied it, honestI! (I’ll blame my wrinkly eyelids!) This is by far the best pen style eyeliner I have used in a long time, it’s so easy to use and creates a bold black line that lasts all day.

classic look face

So what do you think? I’m really loving bright lips at the moment so I’m a happy bunny!! This red lip is created with the Rimmel Colour Rush Lip Balm in The Redder The Better, this is such a striking bright red, and the finish is so moisturising, it’s like wearing a lip balm, I love it!

The products I used were –

  • Tantalise Wig in Almond Mist by Natural Image from Hothair. They don’t stock this any more but do currently sell a wig called Fantasy which is similar.
  • Dior HydraLife BB Cream in 01
  • Benefit Boiing Concealer in 02
  • Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser in Brightener 160
  • Sorme Blush & Bornze Duo
  • MUA Ultimate Eyebrow Kit
  • Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette
  • Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in On and On Bronze
  • Maybelline Eye Studio Master Precise Eyeliner Pen in Black
  • Benefit They’re Real Mascara
  • Rimmell Colour Rush Lip Balm in The Redder The Better

I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx

May Beauty Favourites

Posted on June 11, 2014

Hi Guys!

I know I’m running a bit late with my May favourites, I’m just crazy busy at the moment! I’ve put together a few of the beauty items that have really caught my eye in May, it’s a bit of a mixed bag!

First up is the Makeup Revolution Limited Edition Scandalous Lipstick in Depraved. I love this colour so much! Of all the purple lipsticks you can buy, I’ve never seen a colour as vibrant as this before, it’s definitely not for the faint hearted!

depraved lipstick review

Selfridges Fragrance Lab Perfume in 248 is such a gorgeous perfume – ok it’s definitely not a light and summery scent by any means, but it is gorgeous, I can’t stop wearing it! The Fragrance Lab is still open if you want to find out your signature scent!

selfridges fragrance lab experience

Maybelline Eye Studio Master Precise Eyeliner. I received this from Beauty at Tesco to try out and I absolutely love it! It gives a clean, intense black line, and importantly it doesn’t drag the eyelid and lasts all day without smudging.

Rimmel Colour Rush Balm Lip Pencil in The Redder, The Better. Again this was another gift from Beauty at Tesco and it’s shot right to the top of my favourite lip products list! It’s a striking bright red, has a great moisturising formula and it passed the drink a cuppa and eat a doughnut test with flying colours!

Essie Nail Polish in Go Overboard! I loooove this polish! would you believe you only need one coat for full opaque coverage! Again it’s not a typical summery colour but I love this intense teal shade with a high gloss finish.

essie go overboard review

Original Source Vanilla Milk and Raspberry shower gel. I bought this in the supermarket as it was on offer and I love the scent so much! It smells like Campino strawberries and cream sweets taste – yummy!

So that’s about it for my beauty favourites, look out for my May Non Beauty favourites soon! I now have to go and finish off my 30th Birthday Big Blog Giveaway post ready for tomorrow morning… 🙂

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

First Look – MAC Pedro Lourenco Collection | Mini Haul & Swatches

Posted on June 10, 2014

mac pedro lourenco mac pedro lourenco haul

Hi Guys!

I know I know, another MAC purchase, don’t judge me ok, I’m an emotional shopper. Plus, it’s not my fault if MAC keep bringing out new collections… every single freekin week at the moment! 🙂

Anyway, I absolutely loved the look of this collection, it looks so sleek and glamorous! The Pedro Lourenco collection includes a selection of nude shades contrasting with bold and daring reds. The packaging is matte black, incredibly chic and the casings have a very NARS-esque rubberised finish to them. Combine this with bold gold lettering, it creates a very upmarket, luxe feel to the products.

It was tough to keep my purchase to a minimum, but with the imminent arrival of the Osbournes Collection, I had to restrain my spending. In the end I went for two out of the four lipsticks and both lip glasses.

So first up lets take a look at the lipsticks…

MAC peach beige review mac true red review mac pedro lipstick swatches

The Pedro Lourenco lipstick collection includes four new, limited edition colours. The collection includes one nude and three shades of red, which were all very striking in their own right. All four shades have an amplified finish, meaning they are solid colours, opaque and with a creamy finish. These are definitely my kinda lipsticks!!

Peach Beige is described as a light pinky nude. It’s a very light nude beige, with a fantastic opaque coverage. This lipstick felt moisturising and creamy, and it was really comfortable to use and wear. I personally think the colour would be pretty tough to pull off, it is very light. I thought this might be the case before purchasing and it kind of is, but not to worry, I plan to mix this with other lipstick colours to lighten them – watch this space!

True Red is described as a vivid bright coral red. It’s an awesome bright red-orange with a fab creamy consistency – oh I do love an amplified finish! I’m really into bright lipsticks and this is just prefect for the summer!

Next up are the tinted lip glasses,in Gold Mirror and Mirror.

pedro lourenco lip glass pedro lourenco lip glosses mac pedro lourenco gloss swatches

This collection included two brand new and limited edition lip glasses, one gold toned and the other silver. Both have a high metallic sheen and are, in my opinion totally unique, I snapped these up as I haven’t seen glosses like this before!

Gold Mirror Lipglass is described simply as a neutral gold. It’s what I would call a darkish gold (it’s by no means bright) with a multi coloured shimmer. The shimmering sparkles in this gloss are fabulous, I’m sure MAC couldn’t fit more in if they tried! It gives an amazing reflective sheen.

Mirror Lipglass is described similarly as a neutral silver. It’s a mid silver with the same multi coloured shimmer as the gold gloss. Just like the gold version, this has a fantastic high-shine, almost reflective  finish, I love it!

So that’s about it! I’m really happy with my purchases and I can;’t wait to start playing with them!

Did you snap anything up from this collection? xx
