MAC Future Forward: Tinashe Eyes X 9 Palette

Posted on June 8, 2016

Hi Guys!

Following on from the Dej Loaf Lipglass, next on the blog from the MAC Future Forward collaboration range is the MAC X Tinashe Eyes X 9 Palette…

Tinashe’s exclusive Eye Shadow x 9 palette of steely neutrals and simmering night shades offers you countless, well-edited colour combinations with textures from matte to satin to frost. The saturated shades are packaged in a pocket-sized compact for portability. Online Exclusive.

This is quite a dinky little palette, easily fitting in the palm of your hand – and therefore perfect for throwing in your makeup bag or handbag. Though I do love a palette with larger pans, there’s a lot to be said for a smaller palette that’s easy to travel with! The Tinashe Eyes X 9 Palette is described as a well-edited palette of steely neutrals and simmering night shades, and this palette contains nine eyeshadows ranging from a light green shimmer to a deep purple. Eight of the shades have a shimmer or satin finish, with one, Quarry – the middle taupe shade, being matte.

  • Gleam: Barely pinked gold (Lustre)
  • Midnight Sun: Shimmering mocha (Frost)
  • Revelry: Mauvey purple grey (Satin)
  • Vulnerable: Soft pearly purple (Lustre)
  • Quarry: Soft muted plumbrown (Matte)
  • Cork: Amethyst: Deep purple with pink pearl (Satin)
  • Flame: Mint silver shimmer (VLXP)
  • All Hands on Deck: Light green shimmer (VLXP)
  • Black Water: Black with gold pearl (Veluxe)

My favourite shade out of this palette has to be Midnight Sun, it’s a beautiful warm medium brown with a lovely satin sheen finish – this is a fantastic shade to wear in the crease for a lighter daytime look.

The Future Forward Tinashe Eyes X 9 Palette is £25.00 and available now at .

MAC Future Forward: Dej Loaf Lipglass

Posted on June 3, 2016

Hi Guys!

Happy Friday! I have the first of four exclusive MAC Future Forward collaborations to share with you today. Let’s take a look at the Dej Loaf Lipglass…

M·A·C teams up with the next generation of women shaping music’s future in a series of exclusive collaborations. Each female visionary taps into her creativity with a limited-edition colour statement. Dej Loaf is flipping the rap game on its head with her inventive turns of phrase and killer beats, boasting a singular visual to match. A confident master of balancing restraint and drama, her style savvy is pitch-perfect with a caramel-tinged Lipglass you can mix and mouth off any way you choose. Exclusively Online.

MAC’s Dej-Loaf Lipglass is described as a soft mid toned nude, it’s a caramel toned gloss that can be used to create both a high shine glass-like finish or a subtle sheen. The colour is deeper than I expected, more of a mid warm caramel brown, with a subtle golden orange micro sparkle.

On application, this gloss was also more translucent than I expected, which in my opinion is a good thing as this definitely makes it more of a wearable shade. It’s actually a really nice semi-sheer caramel which will suit most skin tones, and the micro sparkles catch the light beautifully. The formula is pretty standard for a MAC Lipglass, being slightly tacky yet comfortable on the lips.

MAC’s Dej-Loaf Lipgloss is £14.50 and available exclusively online at MAC now. I’ll also have the other three Future Forward collaboration products coming up on the blog very shortly!

MAC X Brooke Candy Limited Edition Collection

Posted on May 16, 2016

Hi Guys!

I have a few products from the rather fabulous and daring MAC X Brooke Candy collection to share with you today – now I’m going to admit, I wasn’t aware of Brooke Candy before I heard about this collection. It turns out she’s a rapper, musician, performer and just an all round internet sensation…

Fiercely independent digital sensation Brooke Candy returns to M·A·C with her feisty colour collection uniting the past, present and future of her creative spirit. Shades for eyes, lips and nails dare you to stand up and stand out. Bold, brave, unusual, unstoppable!

The MAC X Brooke Candy is a sizeable collection containing Lipsticks, Studio Eye Glosses, a Haute & Naughty Lash Mascara, Vamplify Lip Glosses, Lip Pencils, a Bronzing Powder, and Nail Lacquers.

The packaging has a high shine chrome finish, with a black and grey paint spatter print, as well as the MAC X Brooke Candy logo. The whole feel of the collection is edgy – with the visuals featuring a ghostly white Brooke Candy with black tears dripping down her face, and the most dead-on stare possible. I’m pretty sure she’s staring into your soul… 😀

Ok so let’s start with the Lipsticks (£17.00), there are four boldly confident shades in this collection, including two which already offered my MAC –

  • Whirl – dirty rose (from main line)
  • Doowop – pink pop.
  • Mind Control – bright cherry red (from main line)
  • Witching Hour – rich purple.

I have Doowop, this is a beautiful bright and intense blue-pink, verging on fuchsia. It has a mate finish and it really is brighter than bright! The finish on the lips is super opaque, as well as long lasting, and this shade really reminds me of Kelly Yum Yum from the Osbournes collection a couple of years back.

Next is the Vamplify Lip Glass (£20.00), described as a lip gloss infused with colour-boosting technology loaded with pigments, this comes in two shades – Pamela, above, described as a dirty rose colour, and Till Death Do Us Part, an intense dark purple. Pamela looks very similar to the lipstick in Whirl in terms of colour, and also very similar in shade to Kat Von D’s famous Liquid Lipstick in Lolita.

I love both the look and feel of Pamela, the gloss gives fantastic colour payoff and a high shine, and it also has MAC’s signature vanilla scent. The formula is smooth and creamy, and it feels moisturising and comfortable on the lips. The colour itself is also the perfect 90’s muted rose-brown shade, I love it!

There are also two Studio Eye Glosses (£17.50) included in this collection – White-Yin, a shimmer white with multicoloured pearl, and Black-Yang, a black with red and blue pearl. This is my first experience of MAC’s Studio Eye Glosses, so I was interested to see what I’d make of them…

White-Yin is a clear based gloss with multicoloured micro-sparkles. Though the sparkle is multi coloured, it definitely leans heavily toward pink / orange. The formula is like a thick sticky balm, and I wasn’t sure if it would dry or not – and it turns out it definitely stays sticky to touch after application. I think this is a bit of a Marmite product – you’ll either love it, or really dislike it.

And lastly, I have the Bronzing Powder in Golden (£24.00) this is a gorgeous mid golden tan shade, with a slight hint of shimmer. It gives a beautiful natural looking glow to the complexion, and works well on fair skin tones when applied with a light touch, or just as well built up on mid skin tones too.

Overall, this is definitely an interesting and daring collection. I love the theme, and the packaging is pretty awesome too! The Vamplify Lip Glass in Pamela and Bronzing Powder in Golden have to be my favourite products though!

The MAC X Brooke Candy Collection is available now at .

MAC Cosmetics X Chris Chang Collection

Posted on May 10, 2016

Hi Guys!

If you’re a MAC Cosmetics fan, it’s most likely you’ll have heard about the highly anticipated MAC X Chris Chang collection by now… if you’re not aware of Chris Chang, she’s a Chinese fashion designer obsessed with colour – she pretty much lives and breathes the stuff, and because of this she really is the perfect match for a MAC collaboration.

China’s most outlandish fashion designer puts an acid-soaked twist on her modern M·A·C collection, featuring a vivid kaleidoscope of cutting-edge colour, inspired by the ancient Chinese art form Kunqu. Surreal hues of Lipstick, Cream Colour Base and Eye Shadow, and uniquely designed packaging, are saturated with her signature dramatic flair.

Her limited edition collection for MAC contains a decent sized range of products, including Lipsticks (with lustre and matte finishes), Eyeshadows, a Fluid Line Eyeliner, Cream Colour Bases, and a Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Pressed Powder.

Poesia, the Chinese fashion designer’s outrageously-hued clothing line, embraces maximalism to the extreme and a kaleidoscopic point-of-view that’s splashed across her garments in ways that are artful, chaotic, frenzied, stunningly beautiful and never without humour. Her penchant for colour borders on the obsessive, although never seeming tacky or ridiculous. Similarly, her M·A·C collection leaves no hue left behind, a brilliant palette inspired by China’s oldest performance art form, Kunqu…on an acid trip.

So firstly, can we just take a moment to appreciate the packaging? …No your eyes aren’t going funny, and no my camera isn’t blurry… the packaging for this collection is just plain crazy! There’s a collage mishmash of bright and outlandish shapes and patterns covering this collection; flowers, figures, wildlife and who knows what else features on the outer casings of the products. Parts are in focus, yet many have blurry edges, making you look twice to check if your eyes are playing tricks on you. Described as hallucinogenic, crazy and trippy, this is possibly the maddest packaging I’ve seen yet in a MAC collection – and I love it!

Ok so on to the products! Lets start with the rather striking single Eyeshadows (£14.00), there are four brighter than bright matte shades in the collection – Royal Woo – a lemony pastel yellow, Pale Pipa – a pastel turquoise, Electric Mandarin – a neon mandarin orange, and Mu Mu Bloom – a hot pink.

I have Pale Pipa and Electric Mandarin, and as expected both shades are intensely pigmented, super soft and easy to blend. Pale Pipa has more of a powdery matte finish and Electric Mandarin is slightly more satin, both give excellent colour payoff, and though I’m not personally keen on Pale Pipa as a shade, I think I’ll get a lot of use out of Electric Mandarin over the Summer months.

Next we have a large selection of Lipsticks, and Cream Colour Bases. The Lipsticks (£17.00) also come in a range of bright not-to-be-missed pastel shades –

  • Gold XIX  – lemony pastel yellow with a lustre finish
  • Cloud Gait – pastel turquoise with a lustre finish.
  • Plum Princess – pastel plummy lavender with a matte finish.
  • Dddevilish – pastel hotel pink with a matte finish.
  • Vermillion Vee – clean true red with a matte finish.

And the Cream Colour Bases (£17.50) come in three intense shades –

  • Peony Pavilion – hot pink.
  • Rick Coral – orange.
  • Sockit Xiqu – dirty lavender.

I have the lipstick in Dddevilish, an intense and bright blue toned pink with a matte finish. I know this shade won’t be to everyone’s taste, but I absolutely love it! The colour is true and intense, and I love it especially because MAC lipsticks have one of the best matte formulas around, which won’t dry out your lips. I also have the Cream Colour Base in Peony Pavilion, which is again an intense hot pink – very similar in shade to Dddevillish. This is super creamy and easy to blend out and work with. You can wear this applied very lightly for a sheer touch of colour, or build up the product for a more intense look.

And lastly the Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder Compact (£22.50) – this is described as a silky, colourless finishing powder that reduces shine – and that description really is spot on. Though whiter than white, this powder is colourless when applied – hence no swatches, as you can’t really see it on the skin. It gives a velvety soft finish, while helping to set your makeup. This is the perfect setting powder for controlling shine, and giving skin a super smooth and even finish.

As I mentioned earlier in the post, these products, and the collection as a whole won’t be to everyones taste – but there are still a few products and shades in there that would suit those that are a bit fearful of outlandish colours. The Lipstick in Vermillion Vee looks like the most perfect true red shade – of which I believe everybody should own, and the Translucent Powder is just gorgeous, a definite must have for your summer makeup bag! I love how this collection knows no bounds or limits, the colours Chang has chosen dare you to experiment and have fun – which really is is what makeup is all about.

The limited edition MAC X Chris Chang Collection will launch in the UK on June 16th, at MAC’s Carnaby and Covent Garden Stores and online at MAC.

Limited Edition Terry De Gunzburg Thé Glacé Aqua Parfum

Posted on May 4, 2016

Hi Guys!

It’s Wednesday, the sun is shining, and the beautiful new limited edition fragrance from Terry De Gunzburg has just landed – and I wanted to tell you guys all about it!

When seeking freshness, iced tea in a dolce vita French Riviera style, is the must-have drink. Terry de Gunzburg imagined this creation in her herb garden, infused with the memories of a tea from Mauritius, travelling in the bag of a mysterious guest…

Thé Glacé Aqua Parfum is a wonderfully refreshing summer fragrance, combining both masculine and feminine notes to create a true unisex fragrance that smells fresh and inviting.

Thé Glacé Aqua Parfum has top notes of Verbena, Black Tea, Fresh Almond, Mint and Grapefruit, heart notes of White Flowers and Lavender, and base notes of Musk and Moss.

This is no doubt a sophisticated scent, with complex layered notes of fresh white flowers, grapefruit and mint, combined with musk for depth and sensuality. The fragrance also includes more masculine notes such as moss and woods to create neither a male nor female fragrance, but a scent that can be worn and enjoyed by all.

Though this is most definitely a fresh and summery fragrance, this is by no means your bog standard off-the-shelf scent – it really couldn’t be further away from that. Thé Glacé Aqua Parfum really is like not other fragrance I’ve tried – it’s grown up, confident and sophisticated. It has a distinct smokiness that you can’t fail to notice – combined with spiced wood, citrus and musk, it makes for a truly stunning fragrance.

A quick note about the bottle, which is simple and elegant. It has a clear glass exterior and a high shine chrome finish lid – it would look fantastic on any dressing table.

Thé Glacé  Aqua Parfum Eau de Parfum is £107.00 for 100ml, and available now from House of Fraser.

Kiko Limited Edition Summer Trend Collection

Posted on April 26, 2016

Hi Guys!

Kiko’s latest limited edition collection has just launched, and as ever, it’s just to die for! The Summer Trend collection is simply beautiful, and in my opinion it’s one of the best limited edition collections from Kiko as yet…

The Summer Trend collection is inspired by the passion for travel – it’s about finding your inner free-spirit and embracing adventure. The products focus on a flawless, sun kissed complexion, with well-defined eyeliner, brightly coloured eyeshadow and volume-boosting mascara. Lips are accentuated by the shiny, bold lipsticks and hydrated with glossy lip oils. This collection also includes two EDT fragrances, as well as brushes and makeup bag.

The packaging created for this collection really is everything. Designed by Ross Lovegrove, the product casings are finished in a warm metallic gold with a delicate, textured pattern. This makes the products feel wonderfully luxurious, with small additions such as the magnetic closure on the lipsticks adding that special touch.

Let’s start with the Desert Dunes Trio Baked Blush in 01 Lust Coral (£16.90) – this is a gorgeous and generously sized baked blusher combining three different shades for a customised effect. The baked formula is enriched with jojoba oil and vitamin E, and lightly scented with vanilla. 01 Lust Coral is a beautiful trio of coral shades, giving and intense yet sheeny flush colour on application, which can easily be built up and intensified, or worn with a light hand for a sheer look.

The Desert Dunes Baked Bronzer in 210 Sienna Melange (£22.90) is a wonderfully large bronzer, comprising of two different shades mixed together in a single product to give the face a natural, tanned look. Again, the formula is enriched with jojoba oil and vitamin E with a vanilla scent. 210 Sienna Melange is the darker shade of the two available (and too dark for me unfortunately) but it gives a lovely sheen and sight sparkle when applied. This would be perfect for those with mid to dark skin tones.

Next is the Mirage Lip Stylo in 09 (£13.90) – this is a beautifully bold pink shade with a high shine finish. Kiko has designed this lipstick to offer the benefits of three products in one – the colour payoff of a lipstick, the shine of a gloss and the comfort of a balm – and I think they’ve succeeded really well! The formula is creamy and comfortable on the lips, and the finish is glossy and intense. This is going straight in my makeup bag.

The In the Shade Kalaj & Eyeshadow in 06 Black & Shell (£9.90) – this is the first of two In the Shade Kajal & Eyeshadows I have, one end of this one is a deep black Kajal and the other a light nude skin tone pink eyeshadow pencil. The kajal pencil is perfect more smudged looks rather than precise lines, just because it’s chunky in size. The liner is a gorgeous deep black, I’ve worn this applied quickly and smudged out for a smokey look.

And the In the Shade Kalaj & Eyeshadow in 03 Turquoise & Pearly Brown (£9.90) – I love the shimmery turquoise shade here, it’s so pretty and summery! It also works really well with the brown eyeshadow too, which has a hint of gold sparkle to it. It’s worth mentioning that these pencils also have great staying powder – I’ve worn each of them for a day without the product moving at all.

And lastly the Out of Bounds Eyeliner Pen (£8.90) – I’m a big fan of ‘felt tip’ style eyeliner pens for precision eyeliner application rather than liquid liners. The Out of Bounds Pen is just perfect – I can’t even tell you how much I love this! The product formula is an intense, jet black, with a flexible pointed tip that makes application as easy as it it possibly could be. The product itself has a thin, liquid formula much like an actual felt writing pen, it also dries quickly and lasts all day – perfect!

Well, what a stunning collection! Remember these are all limited edition – so once they’re gone, they’re gone. You can pick them up now from Kiko stores and  – go treat yourself!

I’m also giving away a super exclusive Kiko Gift Set, this set contains three beautiful products from the limited edition Summer Trend collection, and it’s not available to purchase in shops or online. To be in with a chance of winning, just enter via Rafflecopter below. This giveaway is open internationally and will run for three weeks. If you have any questions please feel free to me – good luck!

MAC Good Luck Trolls Collection

Posted on April 20, 2016

Ok so I’ve just heard about probably the oddest MAC collection yet – Good Luck Trolls!

If you grew up in the 90’s like me, it’s more than likely you’ll remember these – in case you missed out on this pleasure though, Trolls are basically ugly yet cute little creatures made of plastic, with bright tufty hair that sticks up in a point. I had my very own collection of trolls, including a very special one with a purple ‘good luck’ jewel on it’s belly, oh yes!

‘The Good Luck Trolls have evoked love and joy since the 1960s’ says MAC Cosmetics SVP James Gager. ‘We are so happy we can put the spotlight on them again. M·A·C Cosmetics celebrates pop culture and fantasy—and brings these enchanting characters to life—through this eclectic, bright-hued collection.’

So, though this collection appears completely random – it’s been a good 20 years since Trolls were last around – this collaboration actually coincides with the upcoming Trolls movie by Dreamworks, which will be out this July, featuring the voices of Justin Timberlake, James Corden and Gewn Stefani.

I can’t find too many specific details as yet about the products, I can tell you though that the collection will include plenty of crazy colours, and there will be lipstick, lip glass, eyeshadow, beauty powder and pigment, as well as a few other colourful surprises.

The MAC Good Luck Trolls collection will be released in July in the US, and I’ll update this post when I find out UK release information.
