Beauty: Kat Von D Metal Crush Extreme Highlighter Palette

Posted on February 28, 2018

Hi Guys!

The new Kat Von D Metal Crush Extreme Highlighter Palette recently landed at TSNC HQ, and I have to say I think I’m in love! ūüėÄ

This brand new limited edition palette¬†was created after fans of the brand discovered that Kat Von D’s Metal Crush Eyeshadow shade ‚ÄúThunderstruck‚ÄĚ doubles as an amazing highlighter… so Kat thought she’d make a whole palette along the same lines…

So, firstly the packaging is just everything – as expected from Kat, she’s hand drawn all the artwork herself, and the outer packaging has the most amazing holographic finish too. Inside the palette you’ll find three large metallic finish highlighter pans and a good sized mirror.

The highlighters themselves are¬†loaded with hyper-reflective micro-crystals that catch the light wonderfully – they sparkle and shift and have the most amazing multi-dimensional luminosity. The three shades are as follows –

  • Gammaray – a prismatic peach with pink and gold crystals.
  • Helix – an ethereal opal with gold and silver crystals.
  • Roseshock – a pearlescent pink with lavender and pink crystals.

My swatches definitely don’t do these highlighters justice, they’re honestly so vivid and sparkly in real life!

This formula is very smooth and easy to apply. Though they appear to be powders, the highlighters actually encompass a liquid to powder technology, which gives them a super light and creamy finish, with no powdery chalkiness in sight. I should also point out the the product is¬†not ‘chunky’ in any way (like some products can be when you have this level of metallic shimmer) and blends out really nicely, giving you the most striking highlight ever!

You can probably tell by now that I absolutely love this palette. The shades are all easy to wear colours that apply and blend beautifully. If you’re looking for some intense, out of this world highlighters, this is definitely the palette for you!

The Kat Von D metal Crush Highlighter Palette is £32.00 and available now at

Christmas: Beauty Stocking Fillers for All Budgets

Posted on December 13, 2017

Hi Guys!

I’m back! I feel like I’ve been out of the loop for a little while as I’ve been pretty ill. Well I’m now on the mend and I’m finally bringing you the first of my Christmas Gift Guides! (At last!) So my first guide is all about beauty stocking fillers – I’ve tried to include a range of products at differing price points so there should be something for everyone. Enjoy!

Starting with the (£49.00) РThis is one of the latest releases from one of my favourite makeup brands Рthe Too Faced White Chocolate Palette is in fact a full-sized version of their previous mini White Chocolate Chip palette. It includes 16 pastel shades with both matte and shimmery finishes, and the palette also smells just like white chocolate!

For those that love a luxurious bubble bath, the ¬†(¬£15.00) could be just perfect. Philosophy’s¬†award-winning multi-tasking shampoo, shower gel & bubble bath conditions as it cleanses, leaving skin and hair silky soft and lightly perfumed with an ethereal floral fragrance.

Or how about the (¬£18.00) – I love Ted Baker gifts, they’re always beautifully packaged and just gorgeous inside and out, and The Sweet Treats Polly Fragrance is a complete steal at only ¬£13.00 for 30ml. Polly is described as¬†a grown-up yet girly addition to any night out, with fruity top notes of mandarin, red berries and peach, a floral heart of white jasmine, honeysuckle and peony, and a warm base of amber and vanilla topped off with white musk.

I also have the gorgeous (¬£20.00) – This handy little set is the perfect size for a beauty-lover’s stocking. It contains a¬†Luxurious Liquid Liner, to deliver a line of smooth, rich colour that lasts all day, as well as a Supernova Glitter Glam Liner, which is infused with the finest iridescent sparkle, making it the perfect glitter liner for Christmas nights out.

For the liquid lipstick fan, the¬† (¬£20.00) would just be perfect. This cute little set contains a trio of mini Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks in three must have shades. There’s Beso, a beautiful true red, Caramello, a light nude beige, and Splendore Shimmer, which is a light mauve with a shimmer finish – this one is a special treat as Stila’s Shimmer Liquid Lipsticks won’t be launching individually until the Spring, so definitely keep an eye out for these!

I also have the very affordable (¬£12.00) – Another fab beauty trio, this time perfect for highlighting the face. This set includes Barry M’s¬†Liquid Chrome Highlighter Drops in Liquid Fortune, an Illuminating Strobe Cream Stick in Galactic, and a Fine Glitter Dust in 28.

On to another favourite brand of mine now. The (£8.50) is definitely worth considering. Sleek have got some really great products out at the moment, and this super cute Pout & Polish Set would make a fantastic stocking filler. It contains a Sleek Matte Me Lip Cream in Birthday Suit, with a matching matte finish Nail Polish.

And the (¬£15.50) – Rahua isn’t the most well know brand, but they do offer some fantastic haircare products, and I thought this dinky little hair duo would be a welcome find in any beauty lover’s stocking this Christmas.¬†Ideal for those seeking a full, lustrous mane, Rahua‚Äôs The Jet Setter Voluminous Duo combines their Voluminous Shampoo and Conditioner in a handy travel sized set.

Another bargain now, the (¬£7.99) is definitely worth picking up. This sweet little set would make the perfect budget friendly stocking filler, containing three of Maybelline’s famous Baby Lips Lip Balms, in¬†Hydrate,¬†Pink Punch, and¬†Cherry Me, this ticks all the boxes for a top beauty gift.

Or how about the (¬£22.00) – Pixi is another favourite brand of mine, and this gorgeous Lid Lovelies Eyeshadow Palette contains a gorgeous selection of 18 tones, from light creamy nudes to intense orange and¬†smokey charcoal, there’s enough shades here to take you easily from day to night.

Going a bit more high end now, how about the ¬†(¬£46.00) – Fenty Beauty should need no introduction by now, and I really think any beauty fan would be thrilled to find one of Rhianna’s beauty products in their stocking on Christmas morning. The Match Stix Trio contains three¬†long-wear makeup sticks, with two Match Stix Matte Skinsticks to conceal and contour, and one Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick to highlight.

Ok so I absolutely had to¬†include the (¬£20.00) – As soon as I saw the new Kat Von D Glimmer Veils I knew I had to try them – and I definitely wasn’t disappointed! These are honestly the most vivid, sparkly and just amazing liquid lipsticks that I’ve ever seen. I’ll be sharing full reviews on the blog soon, but in the meantime just google swatches and you’ll see what I mean!

I thought I’d also include the fab (¬£32.00) – This fabulously fun palette contains three colourful highlighters, in shades¬†Seashell: a sparkling lavender,¬†Pearl: a sparkling ivory, and Seafoam: a sparkling blue/green. This is a must have for mermaid fans!

Another brand that alway brings out fun and innovative collections is Kiko. The (¬£19.90) is definitely wort checking out. You’ll probably know by know that I’m a massive fan of Kiko Cosmetics, and their latest limited edition collection is just perfect for Christmas time. I have a few products from the Arctic Holiday collection, but I wanted to include the All In One Palette here, as it’s a fab, reasonably priced full face and eye palette. It¬†contains two face-sculpting powders, a¬†blush, a¬†highlighter, and 9 eyeshadows.

For nail fans, how about the (¬£14.50) – This lovely little set contains Jessica’s best-selling intensive cuticle moisturiser Phenomen Oil, which is the perfect treat for dry nails during the winter months, as well as a Custom Colour Nail Polish in Nude Thrills, which is a pretty nude beige with a touch of sparkle.

And lastly, I have the  (£18.00 each) РZoeva always manage to bring out the most gorgeous palettes, and the Opulence collection is no exception. The eyeshadow palette contains ten vibrant shades in a mixture of polished neutrals and vibrant statement colours, in both matte and metallic finishes. The Blush Palette has also been carefully curated to include everything you need for an uplifting, subtly sculpted cheek look, containing two floral-inspired blushers and a shimmering champagne highlighter.

I hope this has given you some inspiration! I’ll have more gift guides coming up very soon ūüėÄ I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Beauty: NEW Kat Von D Brightening Powders, Alchemy Palette & Nude Everlasting Lipsticks

Posted on May 18, 2017

Hi Guys!

I have a few brand new products from Kat Von D to share with you today – there’s the stunning new Alchemy Holographic Palette, a trio of new Brightening Powders, Kat’s latest Setting Spray, and some brand new shades of Everlasting Liquid Lipstick that have just landed…

Starting¬†with the new Lock-It Brightening Powders¬†(¬£19.00 each at ) – these super fine powders are specifically designed with brightening particles to illuminate¬†and smooth the under eye area, whilst setting makeup and without caking up your foundation and concealer. Personally I’m starting to get a few fine lines and creases under¬†my eyes, and really struggle with hiding¬†them. I found the Lock-It Brightening Powders to be extremely lightweight, and shade Petal worked really well for me to set my under eye area (as well as the rest of my face) – you could still see ever so slight lines, but this is easily one of the most effective powders I’ve used so far.¬†The Lock-It Brightening Powder comes in three lightly tinted shades to suit different skin tones –

  • Petal –¬†for light skin tones
  • Peach –¬†for medium skin tones
  • Golden –¬†a universal shade also for brightening deep complexions

Next the Lock-It Makeup Setting Mist (¬£20.00 at ) – this lightly scented super fine mist is perfect for ‘locking in’ makeup for long periods of time. I love that the bottle sprays such a fine mist,¬†that smells and feels instantly refreshing. It also doesn’t feel heavy or or too wet like some setting sprays do, and it doesn’t leave any residue on the skin either. Kat promises 24 hours of flawless makeup with the Lock-It Makeup Setting Mist –¬†and I can’t vouch for the full 24 hours, but it did make a full face of makeup last a whole day and evening for me, so I’m very happy with it.

And also the Alchemist Face & Eye Highlighter Palette (£25.00 at ) has just launched in the UK Рat last! You can probably guess this palette was inspired by the ancient science of alchemy (this is the medieval art of turning base materials into precious metals such as gold) and I think this palette follows the theme rather nicely.

The palette contains four multi-use shades which have been formulated with Double Dimension technology, meaning¬†each prismatic powder has been submerged in a refractive coating to catch the light from every angle – giving a spectrum of luminizing special effects. Very fancy! ūüėÄ

The shadows work well on their own, but particularly come to life when used as ‘toppers’, transforming other eyeshadows (or liquid lipsticks) with beautiful iridescent finishes.

The pans themselves aren’t¬†particularly exciting to look at (you’ll see in my image above they look quite pale and plain) but the shadows really come to life on application. The¬†four shades are all simply¬†stunning and catch the light beautifully –

  • Emerald – light green
  • Amethyst – ultra violet
  • Saphyre – light blue
  • Opal – pink

And lastly, the Everlasting Lipstick Nudes (¬£17.00 at ) – the¬†Everlasting Lipsticks have been around for quite a while now, and Kat has recently added six new nude shades to the range. If you’re a fan of liquid lipsticks, the Everlasting Lipsticks are a must have for your collection – they’re one of my favourite formulas feeling creamy and comfortable on application, and once dry they will literally last all day without wearing off. They also contain¬†natural moisturizers, such as¬†Vitamin E and Sunflower Seed Wax. These are the new shades (the asterisked shades are swatched above) –

  • Crucifix* – a deep chocolate brown.
  • Hawkwind* – a¬†warm terracotta¬†toned¬†brown.
  • Sanctuary – a light nude brown.
  • Ludwig – a nude light brown, slightly lighter than Bow N Arrow.
  • Ophelia – a peachy light nude, slightly lighter than Ludwig.
  • Muneca* – a¬†light bright peach.

I’m really impressed with everything I’ve been trying out, but I have to say I’ve been absolutely loving the Alchemist Palette, it’s so versatile and the colours are just stunning.

Kat Von D Makeup is available now exclusively at .

Beauty: Too Faced X Kat Von D Better Together Collection #TooFacedxKatVonD

Posted on March 16, 2017

Hi Guys!

As soon as I heard there was a Too Faced X Kat Von D collaboration on the cards many moons ago, I literally couldn’t wait to see what Jerrod and Kat would come up with together. The Better Together collection isn’t that new as I’m writing this, but is still a recent launch at Too Faced (they’re just coming out with so many new products right now!)¬†and it contains a fab¬†selection of products from both brands…

This impossible collaboration began with an authentic friendship between the two founders, Kat and Jerrod ‚Äď who love, respect and celebrate one another, realizing they are more alike than they are different. They have created a collection that proves nobody has to fail in order for you to succeed. Dozens of secret meetings and social media leaks later, the wait is finally over.

The¬† (¬£57.00) is definitely the stand out set from this collection. The box contains a heard shaped eyeshadow palette which actually splits in¬†two¬†to create two separate mini palettes. One half has been created by Kat Von D, and half by Too Faced – and it’s worth mentioning that each half uses each individual brands signature eyeshadow formula too.

I have to say I love that the palette breaks in half (you can re-attach it easily as it’s magnetised) and I just think it’s such a fun and interesting concept – as well as being practical if you only want to use one half of the palette at a time.

Too Faced’s side includes six heart shaped pans in some very pretty, easy to wear shades. I’m not head over heels excited about this shade selection to be honest, but I do think they’re nice, and definitely wearable ¬†–

  • BFF¬†– a¬†matte¬†cream.
  • Friendspiration – a warm bronze gold shimmer.
  • Power couple – a deep bronze with gold glitter.
  • Lovely – a baby pink matte.
  • Heart of Gold – a light gold shimmer which almost has a hint of green.
  • Better Together – a muted plum¬†glitter.

And Kat’s side includes six bold and intense shades, which are definitely representative of the Kat Von D brand. Personally, I prefer these overall compared to the Too Faced half. I think the shade choice is really unusual and interesting. The shades are –

  • Yours – a matte grey.
  • Devotion – a matte black.
  • Darling – a mid¬†silver shimmer.
  • Swoon – an¬†intense metallic red.
  • Por Vida – a bright white matte.
  • Lovestruck – a nude peach shimmer.

The Ultimate Eye Collection also contains a full sized Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, and a full sized Kat Von D Tattoo Liner.

The¬†¬†(¬£33.00) contains the cutest two-sided collectible mini makeup bag, with one side dedicated to each brand. Kat’s side has a black base and features her cat, Piaf, and Too Faced’s side is a sparkly pink featuring Jerrod’s dog, Clover. This sweet little makeup pouch also holds a selection of mini favourites from both brands,¬†including some new and exclusive shades.

Too Faced have included a deluxe mini Candlelight Glow Highlighter in Rosy Glow, which is perfect for creating a soft-focus highlight and glow, as well as a deluxe mini Love Flush Blush featuring a long-wear, high pigment formula in the new and exclusive in-your-face pink shade So Happy Together.

Kat has chosen a couple of lip products from her brand, including a deluxe mini Everlasting Love Liquid Lipstick in the new shade XO, which is a deep intense burgundy red, and a deluxe mini Studded Kiss Lipstick offering bold pigment and long wear in the new shade Muse, which is a mid nude with a hint of shimmer.

And lastly, for those on a budget that would still like to snap up something from the collection, the¬†¬†(¬£18.00) is the most affordable option, and contains two deluxe mini-sized,¬†best-selling¬†eye products from both brands –

Too Faced’s Better Than Sex Mascara¬†is definitely a must have if you don’t own it already. This mascara promises 1,944% more volume, which is insane! And since trying out these products, I’m a new covert to Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner, which has an¬†ultra-precise brush tip and gives 24-hour waterproof wear.

The Too faced X Kat Von D collection is available now exclusively at .

Were you as excited about this collaboration as I was? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Beauty News & Gossip 11/01/17: Jeffree Star, Huda Beauty, Too Faced & More!

Posted on January 11, 2017

Hi Guys!

It’s been quite a while since I published my last Beauty News & Gossip post, but you guys have told me that you like them, so I thought I’d start up the series again. I’m aiming to post on a weekly basis covering all the latest hot beauty news, influencer gossip and exciting new releases – enjoy!

Ok so I woke up this morning and the first thing I saw on my social s¬†is that has destroyed a $5.5k Chanel bag on his Youtube channel. Him and his BFF Manny MUA got together to cut up some makeup products with hot knives (as you do) just for LOLs, and Jeffree decided to take it one step further and mutilate a Chanel Boy bag from his collection. By the looks of things this has been one of his most viewed videos in such a short space of time since publishing, and¬†comments have been falling in one of two very distinct camps – Jeffree fans are saying (very rightly so) that¬†‘it’s his money he can do what he likes with it’ but people are also saying (again very rightly so) comments along the lines of¬†‘people are starving in this world, and he chooses to do this..’. I totally agree that he can do what he likes with his own things, but he might as well be burning a $5k wad of cash for the sake of gaining views, which in my opinion is in very poor taste – but then would we expect anything else from Jeffree Star?? I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on this.

In other¬†¬†news, he’s also recently announced that his much anticipated Androgyny Palette will be launching in March. The teasers above shows his second palette has a deep pink textured casing¬†with gold lettering, and the eyeshadows look like they’re going to be a big hit with fans – there appears to be a range of intensely coloured warm matte shades included¬†(judging by the colours Jeffree is wearing above) and I think it will be a total sell out.

You may have also noticed recently that¬†Manny MUA is collaborating with¬†Maybelline¬†on their Big Shot Mascara campaign. I noticed this on Twitter when the ad first launched and didn’t really give it too much thought. Then it popped up again on Facebook via a , I noticed there were thousands and thousands of comments, so thought I’d take a moment to look through. Oh my gosh, the public has had such a strong reaction to this, I really was quite shocked. It was very divided, with a disturbing amount¬†of people¬†being absolutely horrified that a man is wearing makeup (I mean, really?), but luckily there were plenty of positive comments too which appeared to outnumber the negative. It really does worry me how people can be so close minded – we’re in 2017 for Christ’s sake! I think it’s a great collab, and Manny is the perfect influencer to team up with Maybelline – maybe this just seems obvious to me though because I’m part of the beauty community? I don’t know, I think attitudes are changing, but we still have definitely a long way to go.¬†I also think it’s a very clever marketing move on Maybelline’s part – what better way to get your beauty brand talked about across every media channel than to do something ‘controversial’ like having a male in full makeup¬†as the star of¬†the campaign – what do you think?

What would a news and gossip post be without Jaclyn Hill!? It looks like Jaclyn is coming out with another new collaboration within the next two months. She’s not giving away much at the moment but we know it’s an eyeshadow palette, and it’s in collaboration with a brand – maybe Becca again? Or maybe someone new?

I never managed to get my hands on the¬†¬†Rose Gold Eyeshadow palette – though it looks stunning I just couldn’t justify the expense. She’s now teasing fans with the outer packaging of her upcoming Highlighter Palette – I can’t wait to see what’s inside, I bet it’s going to be stunning!

And lastly when it comes to influencers, it looks like¬†¬†lasted collab will be with Youtuber¬†Kandee Johnson. As a big Too faced fan I can’t wait to see what they’ll come up with together ūüėÄ

On to new products now, and you may have noticed that¬†¬†is busting out new products like there’s no tomorrow right now, and I’ve just caught wind of yet another gorgeous looking launch – their beautiful¬†Lovelight Highlighters will be coming in March this year – don’t they look gorgeous!

Anastasia has also just launched their first Lip Palette, which is perfect for those that like to experiment with lip shades and change their look frequently. This palette contains a large selection of lipsticks as well as primary colours and black and white shades, so you can pretty much come up with any colour imaginable! This is available now on the  but not yet on the Anastasia UK site.

After visiting New York last year on a press trip, and spending rather a lot of time in Sephora, I discovered Milk Makeup. I have their Cooling Water and Holographic Stick, both of which I love. And I recently heard about their brand new¬†Blur Stick –¬†it’s just now launched at ¬†and it promised to blur skin’s imperfections to give you a ‘real life filter effect’. I really love the sound of this.

The brand that only a few months ago brought us the original (I have them but can’t bring myself to use them!) has recently announced an upcoming collection of Mermaid makeup brushes! Above you can see the original artist sketches for the brushes, it also says they’re now going into production, so watch this space for news of the launch date.

And oh my gosh, the Lancome Rose Collection is EVERYTHING. The highlighter is shaped like an actual rose and it’s just so beautiful! There’s also a limited edition brush to go with it, as well as a palette and a few other products in the collection. These are all¬†available now on the¬†Lancome US site. I can’t wait till it’s available in the UK!

And lastly, I also wanted to mention that that Kat Von D Pastel Goth Palette is available now at¬†¬†– as with all of Kat’s products this palette looks pretty awesome, it’s going on my wish list right now ūüôā

I’d love to hear what you think about the latest news and gossip? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx
