glossybox-july-review-giveaway

Hi Guys!

July’s Glossybox has just landed, and the theme this month is ‘Life’s a Beach’. The box includes an edit of seaside inspired beauty products – let’s see what’s inside…

  • Soft & Gentle Hair Minimise Anti-Perspirant, full size worth £2.99.
  • Utan & Tone Nourishing Night Creme, 25ml worth £12.50.
  • Hawaiian Tropic Island Berry Lip Gloss in xx, full size worth £6.99.
  • Hairon De-Tangle Brush, full size worth £6.99.
  • Blank Canvas F20 Flat Brush, full size worth £11.95.

Total value of box = £41.42.

The Soft & Gentle Hair Minimise Anti-Perspirant is actually a really good idea, you can probably guess by the name that apart from being an antiperspirant, this product also helps to combat unwanted underarm hair. It uses hair growth minimiser Keliosoft – a natural plant molecule that reduces the protein that stimulates hair growth. I’ve just started using this so fingers crossed it works!

The HairOn De-tangle Brush also caught my eye – this ergonomically designed brush fits into the palm of your hand perfectly and is designed to gently detangle wet hair, preventing snagging and breakage… I also quite like having my back scratched with it whilst watching TV 😀

Next the U-Tan’s Tan and Tone Night Creme – this product combines the qualities of a hydrating, vitamin-rich night cream with the golden colour of a gradual tan. The idea is you apply before bed and the formula works overnight so you wake up with a golden tan in the morning – what a great idea!

The Hawaiian Tropic Island Berry Lip Gloss is also a lovely product too, this tropical scented gloss really does smell good enough to eat! It provides lips with 12-hour moisture as well as advanced UVA and UVB protection.

And lastly the Blank Canvas Cosmetics F20 Flat Brush – this is a dense synthetic fibre brush, perfect for buffing in foundation. I’ve never heard of this brand before but this is a fab quality brush with amazingly soft bristles. I look forward to trying this out!

I’ve also teamed up with Glossybox this month to offer one lucky winner a 12 month Glossybox subscription worth over £100, and 8 runners up a July Glossybox each. All you need to do is enter via the Rafflecopter widget below. The giveaway will be open until 31/08/16 and is open to UK and Ireland entrants only. Any questions please ask, and good luck!

Glossybox August | Review

Hi Guys!

It’s time again for another Glossybox! And this month’s box contains five full sized items, which is pretty unexpected!

  • MeMeMe Lipglide in Playful Peach. Full size worth £6.95.
  • Manna Kadar Lash Primer. Full size worth £14.55.
  • Emite Artist Colour Powder Blush. Full size worth £20.59.
  • Naobay Calming Face Toner. Full size 200ml worth £10.65.
  • Sass Intimate Purifying Cleanser. Full size 100ml worth £7.00.

Total value of box = £59.74.

Well I definitely think this is one of the most impressive looking boxes in a while from Glossybox. It’s very rare to find five full sized items enclosed!

I have a few MeMeMe products now and they’re usually quite good, the Lipglide in Playful Peach is basically a lip pencil with a balmy texture that gives a matte finish to the lips. Playful Peach is a pretty, summery coral peach shade that’s quite forgiving so it should suit most skin tones.

Manna Kadar is a brand I’ve never heard of before, their Lash Primer is supposed to be applied before mascara to prime and plump as well as nourish the lashes. It’s basically a base coat for lashes to improve the way your mascara looks when applied on top. I haven’t noticed any difference with my own lashes, but I know others’ swear by a lash primer, so this could work wonders for you.

Emite Artist Colour Powder Blush in 108. I must admit, before reading the product details I thought this was a bronzer! The shade is pretty intense terracotta, which unfortunately doesn’t really suit my colouring. If you have a darker, warmer skin tone though, this could be perfect for you. The formula has a lovely soft texture that’s easy to apply, and I’ve just stated using this sparingly as a bronzer and it’s working really well!

Naobay calming Face Toner. This is the second Naobay product I’ve received in a Glossybox over the last few months. This refreshing citrus-scented lotion provides 4-in-1 skincare action to effectively remove traces of makeup and impurities from the skin. It also cleanses, tones and soothes the skin thanks to Chamomile and Gotu Kola extracts.

And lastly, the Sass Intimate Purifying Cleanser. At first I thought this was a face cleanser, but noooo, it’s an intimate cleanser, or shower gel. This product has been specially created to help you feel fresh throughout the day, with a gentle formula containing special Ecodermine technology that acts as a probiotic to maintain intimate harmony, soothe skin and help you be at your best.

Overall this is a great little bundle of beauty and skincare goodies – and I love that they’re all full sized too. I think I’ll get the most use out of the Naobay toner though!

I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Glossybox July Review and Giveaway!

Hi Guys!

Today’s post is a bit of a special one – rather than my standard monthly Glossybox review, I also have a brand new awesome giveaway for you! But let’s get to that a bit later… July’s Glossybox is a special Vive La France collector’s edition, inspired by all things French, this box includes four of Glossybox’s favourite French finds as well as a special illustrated outer box.

Here’s what’s in the box –

  • Lollipops Lip Balm Delicieuse – Full size worth £4.15.
  • Teoxane Cosmeceuticals Perfect Skin Refiner – 15ml sample size worth £21.00.
  • Vichy Aqualia Thermal Light Cream – 15ml sample size worth £5.10.
  • Noxidoxi Enhancing Serum Base – 25ml sample size worth £27.88.
  • Glossybox Exclusive Travel Pouch – Worth £3.99.

Total value of box = £62.12.

glossybox-july

Ok so this seems like a really great box, we’ve got a few nice looking skincare items and a lip balm in there, as well as a re-useable travel pouch. Let’s take a closer look –

The Lollipops Lip Balm is a sweet little squeezy-tube style balm with a vanilla scent. The formula is enriched with plant oils, wheat germ, macadamia nut oil, and beeswax, to nourish lips leaving them smooth and supple. I get through lip balms like there’s no tomorrow so this will be going straight in my bag!

The Teoxane Cosmeceuticals Perfect Skin Refiner is a product and also a brand I haven’t heard of before. This product is designed to help improve the appearance of ageing and sun-damaged skin, accelerate cell renewal, brighten, smooth and firm the skin. With its powerful formula that contains glycolic and resilient hyaluronic acids, it helps to correct uneven skin tone and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, leaving the skin looking brighter and more youthful.

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Light Cream – This super light cream literally melts into the skin, it’s non-greasy and non-stick formula helps fortify and soothe the skin giving it 24 hour hydrating care that’s perfect for use on dehydrated and sensitive skin. After intensely hydrating, it leaves skin feeling smoother, refreshed, velvety soft and free from any sensations of tightness. Vichy promises the skin is left more resilient, with increased suppleness and radiance. This sounds like a winner to me!

The Noxidoxi Enhancing Serum is another brand and product I don’t recognise. The CRC6 moisturising complex keeps the surface of your skin well-moisturised while at the same time penetrating deep down to hydrate the skin cells. This product offers all-round protection thanks to the combination of an anti-inflammatory agent and an essential antioxidant, helping skin defend itself against the harmful effects of the outside world.

What a bunch of awesome sounding products, I can’t wait to try them all out! I think my dry skin will drink up the Vichy Thermal Light Cream!

Glossybox June | Review

Posted on June 8, 2015

glossybox-june-review

Hi Guys!

This month’s Glossybox has a very apt Festival Edit theme, and it includes a mixture of products to help you look and feel your best in time for the summer’s festivals! This is what’s in the box –

  • Monu Spa Rosewood Reviving Mist. 50ml sample size worth £5.97
  • Kueshi Anti Cellulite Booster. 150ml worth £14.55
  • Halo Fragrance Free Facial Wipes. Pack of 10 worth £1.09
  • Essence Gel Nail Polish. Full size worth £1.71
  • Glossybox Flash Temporary Tattoos. Worth £6.50

Total value of box = £29.82

glossybox-june

Ok so on first glance, this is probably not the most exciting box Glossybox has come up with, but it does contain a good varied range of products to try out. So first up I’ll start with the Essence Nail polish in 31 Electriiiiiic, I’m a big fan of blue nail shades so this definitely caught my eye. Essence is one of those brands I’ve been wanting to try but haven’t had a chance as they’re not stocked near me – I’m pretty sure their products are available in Wilko? Anyway, this polish is a gorgeous shade, and comes with a wide brush which is great to see, so application is easy, and it took me three coats to get full opacity. For under £2 this is a great little polish!

Jumping to a product at the other end of the spectrum that doesn’t really appeal to me – the Kueshi Anticellulite Booster is supposed to combat existing cellulite whilst preventing the formulation of new cellulite using flavenoids to inhibit the formation of fat cells, ruscogenin to facilitate blood flow, and naringin and rutin to reduce swelling. It has a light, pleasant fragrance, and the texture is similar to a light moisturiser. I personally don’t believe anti-cellulite creams work. I’ll give this a go though and will definitely report back if it does!

Next up is the Monu Spa Rosewood Reviving Mist, this has been created using a blend of zesty essential oils from Lemon and Rosewood to Sandalwood, Petitgrain, Geranium and Clary Sage, to leave skin feeling cool and refreshed whilst providing an irresistible fragrance to tantalise the senses. You can use this spray to instantly refresh tired skin as well as to set your makeup. I don’t often use facial sprays but this has a really nice fresh scent – I think I might also keep it in the fridge for extra refreshment!

The Halo Fragrance Free Facial Wipes come in a handy mini pack of ten, which is perfect for your handbag. They are obviously fragrance free, and also suitable for sensitive skin. I was impressed that they removed all my makeup with minimal rubbing – including eyeliner and mascara. These would definitely be a must have if you’re heading off to a festival this summer.

And lastly Glossybox’s own brand of flash temporary tattoos. I’ve actually been wanting to get my hands on some of these gold and silver tattoos, I’ve seen them in many an Instagram snap sported by bronzed Goddesses and I think they look great! There are eight strips of tattoos here which you can cut up and place on your body as required – one row of them being the Glossybox crown logo in gold, if you fancy wearing that on your body! These tatts are really easy to use, you just press on your skin, cover the back with water and peel the backing off. They’re not going to be everybody’s cup of tea but I think they’re pretty cool!

I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

GLOSSYBOX MAY | REVIEW

Posted on May 16, 2015

glossybox-may

Hi Guys!

I hope you’re having a good weekend? I must admit I haven’t been having the best week so far. For some reason my anxiety has gone through the roof, and I unfortunately ended up in tears in a public place yesterday. It seems as though I’m fine until I have to do something outside of my comfort zone, then I fall apart. As soon as I was out of the situation though and got home I felt so much calmer, and as an added bonus the the latest Glossybox had also arrived. This was a welcome distraction so I got stuck in with trying out this months’ products…

So what’s inside the box?

  • MeMeMe Enchanted Eyes Dual Ended Eye Wand in Midnight Storm. Full size worth £6.95
  • Etre Belle Aloe Vera Ultra Moisturising Gel, 40ml full size worth £15.93
  • Zerreau Towel Off Shampoo Foam, 70ml sample size worth £3.09
  • Sass Intimate Perfect Skin Concentrate, sample size 30ml worth £3.60
  • Collection Cosmetics Lipstick in Field Day, full size worth £2.99

Total value of box = £32.56.

MeMeMe-Enchanted-Eyes-Dual-Ended-Eye-Wand-in-Midnight-Storm MeMeMe-Enchanted-Eyes-Dual-Ended-Eye-Wand-in-Midnight-Storm-swatches

First up is the MeMeMe Enchanted Eyes Pencil. This is a double ended eye crayon and the shade Midnight Storm has one midnight blue shimmer end, and one bright turquoise shimmer end. As well as being two products in one, this crayon also doubles up as eye liner and eye shadow, so it’s a complete multi-tasker! The shades are both easily blendable over the lid for a wash of colour, and also work really well as eyeliners too. I love the turquoise shade, I’ll definitely get a lot of use out of this!

glossybox-products-review

Etra Belle is a brand I haven’t heard of before, they’re a German cosmetic company offering a selection of cosmetics and what seems to be a massive range of skincare. The Aloe Vera Ultra Moisturising Gel is a lightweight floral scented gel that’s formulated to cool and hydrate the skin. I think this would be perfect kept in the fridge and used for after sun.

The Sass Intimate Perfect Skin Concentrate is a bit of an interesting one. This is basically to prevent ingrown hairs when shaving your undercarriage 😀 It also acts as a post-shave soothing cream, and it reduces hair re-growth too. The exfoliating Salicyclic Acid and the Fruit Enzymes help prevent ingrown hairs, the Aloe Vera soothes and hydrates, and the Kelisoft helps to minimise hair regrowth.

Zerreau-Towel-Off-Shampoo-Foam

The Zerreau Towel Off Shampoo Foam definitely caught my eye as one of the most interesting sounding products in the box. I’m a big fan of dry shampoos for those days in-between washing my hair but I haven’t come across anything like this before. This product is described as ‘the next generation of dry shampoo’ – allowing you to wash your hair without water. The product itself is a light and fluffy foam, which you massage in at the roots, and you towel dry your hair after. No water required! It’s also supposed to remove products including hairspray and hair chalk. Luckily enough for this review, I was due to wash my hair as it was looking pretty greasy! I applied a few squirts of this and massaged it into my scalp. It left my hair feeling really wet, like I’d just washed it, and the product also had a lovely fresh citrus scent too. It did make my hair feel cleaner and fresher, and got rid of most of the grease but not quite all of it. Maybe I should have used more product? I think this would be a great product to take to festivals to use between showers.

collection-lipstick-in-field-day-review

And lastly the Collection Cosmetics Lipstick in Field Day. I have to say I haven’t used Collection products in years, so this was definitely a welcome addition to the box. Field Day is a beautiful vibrant peach shade with a semi matte finish. This is the sort of colour that’s perfect for summer, and it would look gorgeous with a tan too. The only thing I will say though – as with most matte shades, is you’ll need your lips to be in tip top condition to wear this lipstick as it does tend to emphasise any dry areas.

I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Glossybox | The Iconic Hollywood Edition‏

Posted on April 22, 2015

glossybox-iconic-april-box

Hi Guys!

I just love a limited edition – a limited edition anything. It’s just a bit special and a bit of a treat. I also love when beauty box companies bring out their themed or limited boxes, and Glossybox have done just that. For April Glossybox has returned to Hollywood’s golden age of glamour. Taking inspiration from the great and the glorious, Glossybox presents the Collector’s Edition Iconic Hollywood box.

GLOSSYBOX has captured the allure of Audrey, the marvel that is Marilyn and the wonder of Grace Kelly to curate the Iconic Hollywood Box. The classic red lipstick, the essential black eyeliner and a warm nude nail polish take over this month‘s box. GLOSSYBOX have hand- picked the best in beauty, promising products from brands including Darphin, Lord & Berry and Color Club, to help you capture the look of your favourite Hollywood heroes.

So what’s in the box?

  • Lord & Berry Lipstick Pencil in Kiss – Full size worth £10.00
  • POP Beauty Kajal Eyeliner Pen – Full size worth £6.50
  • Darphin Exquisage Beauty Revealing Cream 5ml – 50ml is £65 so 5ml is £6.50
  • Color Club Barely There Nail Polish – Full size worth £4.10
  • Nougat London Soothing Bath Pearls – 35ml worth £6.00

Total value of box = £33.10

lord-and-berry-lip-pencil-review

The Lord & Berry Lip Pencil instantly grabs my attention – this is easily the star product in the box. It’s a bright orange toned red shade that definitely isn’t for the faint hearted. This pencil gives a matte finish that doesn’t budge, smudge or move from the lips – I think this shade is perfect for a statement lip this summer.

pop-kajal-pen-review

The Pop Beauty Kajal Eyeliner Pen, isn’t actually a pen – I just wanted to point that out! It’s a double ended eyeliner with a Kajal pencil at one end to create a killer feline flick, and a smudger at the other if you want to smudge your eyeliner out for a smokey look. It gives a great line that’s well pigmented and didn’t seem to budge after wearing it for a day.

color-club-nail-lacquer-review

The Color Club Nail Lacquer in Barely There is the perfect nude shade for fairer complexions – but – I have to say I was actually quite disappointed with this polish. It was just so sheer. On first application it might as well have been a clear polish, and I was still nowhere near full opacity after three applications. I guess it just depends what you’re looking for in a nail polish. I personally like a full and intense colour. If you prefer a very sheer colour that just gives shine, then this is for you.

nougat-london-bath-beads

Next the Nougat London Soothing Bath Pearls in Cherry Blossom – they smell just beautiful. You’re directed to sprinkle a handful into your bath and leave to dissolve to release their soothing scent. It’s a pretty small bag (35g) so I think you could get 2-3 baths out of it. I think this is a great introduction to Nougat London products though.

darphin-exquisage-cream-review

And lastly the Darphin Exquisage Beauty Revealing Cream. This comes in a dinky little 5ml pot – which is perfect for trying the cream out as it’s a massive £65 for the 50ml full size jar. This cream uses the CelluVie™ Complex” and skin strengthening Probiotics to rapidly replenish skin with comforting moisture and protection. It aims to visibly improve skins elasticity, soften lines and wrinkles and improve radiance.

The April Collector’s Edition Iconic Hollywood GLOSSYBOX is £10 (+P&P) and will be available throughout April 2015 from www.glossybox.co.uk while stock lasts.

Glossybox March | Review

Posted on March 19, 2015

glossybox-march-review

Hi Guys!

I feel a bit like I’ve got beauty boxes coming out of my ears at the moment! The latest Glossybox has just arrived and it’s a really good one! With six full size and generous sample sized items covering hair, skincare and makeup, March’s box is looking like one of the best yet…

So what’s inside the box?

  • Naobay Moisturising Peeling, 100ml worth £13.71.
  • Essence Lash Princess Volume Mascara, full size worth £3.30.
  • Dove Advanced Hair Youthful Vitality Shampoo & Conditioner, 50ml each worth £1.20 each.
  • ncLA Nail Lacquer in I Only Fly Private, full size worth £10.83.
  • Sleek Makeup Pout Paint in Port, full size worth £4.99.

Total value = £35.23.

Ok so it’s not the highest value, but on first glance this isn’t a bad little box at all! I’ll start with the Naobay Moisturising Peeling. This is the strangest product name, surely it should say … Mask or Cream or something at the end!? Anyway, this is in fact an ‘organic peeling milk’ which includes particles from the acai tree to remove dulling dead skin cells and brighten the complexion. This sounds exactly what my skin needs right now, since I’ve been ill my skin has just become so lifeless and dull I’ll soon be resembling a corpse, so fingers crossed this will work! (review to come)

Next is the Essence Mascara. I’ve heard of Essence before and understand it’s a budget brand that’s available in Wilko. I’m not based near a store so haven’t had a chance to try out their products before. I have to say the Lash Princess Mascara does look kinda cheap – well it is only £3.30! And the makeup snob in me is telling me it’s not going to be much cop, but I’ve been wearing the mascara for a few hours now and it’s actually not that bad. It’s not as lengthening on my short lashes as I’d like but it’s ok if you’re looking for volume rather than length.

Moving on we have the Dove Advanced Hair Youthful Vitality Shampoo and Conditioner. I haven’t used Dove hair products for years, so I’m welcoming the re-introduction to the brand. These products are specifically aimed at ageing hair (I’m coming up 31, does that count??) They’re supposed to repair brittle hair and replenish lost nutrients to leave hair looking ‘twice as thick’ These are bold words, Dove! I have super fine hair so I’ll be trying these out in the coming weeks – this is another one I’ll have to report back on!

The ncLA Nail Lacquer is up next, and I personally do not find this product visual appealing. The bottle looks very cheap – but it’s in fact $16! I do like the colour of the polish, as you know I’m all about the brights! ncLA is a US based company that sells nail products only, so you’d think that as this is their specialism then the products should be pretty decent, and it actually is. You just need two coats for full opaque coverage, I can’t comment on the longevity yet but so far so good!

And lastly the Sleek Pout Paint. I’m already a big fan of Sleek cosmetics and I’ve previously reviewed their Pout Paint in Pinkini. The pigmentation is fanastic, but I do find the Pout Paints seep into the fine lines at the edges of my lips – you’ll see what I mean if you look at the Pinkini review. I think you’re good to go with this product as long as you use a decent lip liner with it 🙂

Overall this is a really good box, considering it’s only £10 to buy! I’d love to hear your thoughts? xxx
