Fragrance: Eau De Lacoste L.12.12 Pour Elle Trio

Posted on August 10, 2016

Hi Guys!

I have some gorgeous fragrances from Lacoste to share with you today! The iconic Lacoste pleated skirt has inspired their latest Eau De Lacoste L.12.12 Pour Elle trio of fragrances, which have been designed to reflect the three moods of the Lacoste woman: Natural, Elegant, and Sparklingly playful.

I know it may sound a little odd having a set of fragrances inspired by a skirt, but when you look at what this classic garment represents, it actually makes complete sense – the pleated skirt is instantly recognisable and synonymous with the Lacoste brand, as well as a constant garment within Lacoste’s collections.

A pleated skirt can be given a unique twist according to the woman wearing it. This freedom of expression also applies to the fragrances, which reflect three facets of the LACOSTE woman. Around a shared floral jasmine note echoing the timeless feel of a LACOSTE piece, three lively scent structures reflect very different moods – Elegant, Sparkling and Natural – to suit the wearer and the moment.

So let’s take a look at the fragrances –

Starting with L.12.12 Pour Elle – Elegant. This fragrance is described as effortless, confident, and classic, but also fresh and relevant. It contains citrus oils, cassis bud and pink pepper to give an instant feel of brightness, mellowed by soft and feminine mimosa at the heart. Vetiver at the base is warm and sensual, whilst adding a touch of masculinity to the scent.

Next we have L.12.12 Pour Elle – SparklingSuper girly, sweet and playful, this fragrance is a definite nod towards Lacoste’s French roots with the noticeably sweet note of macaron at the heart. Top notes of fruit and spice provide glittering sparkle with an edge, while patchouli adds sophistication to the base.

And lastly L.12.12 Pour Elle – Natural. Described as uplifting, authentic, and warm – this is quite a clean and fresh scent, much like wearing freshly washed clothes. It contains notes of warming coconut accord with raspberry leaves, mandarin and pineapple, and the powdery notes of orris give a long-lasting base to this otherwise fresh and light scent.

Overall these are a gorgeous trio of fragrances that are also very reasonably priced – I also love the sweet addition of the embroidered Lacoste crocodile logo on the bottles 🙂

The Eau De Lacoste L.12.12 Pour Elle collection are priced from £30.00 for a 30ml bottle at  now.

Fragrance: Limited Edition Michael Kors Midnight Shimmer EDP

Posted on July 30, 2016

Hi Guys!

Michael Kors latest limited edition fragrance has just arrived – Midnight Shimmer Eau De Parfum, and it’s just so gorgeous I had to share it with you!

Described as a sparkling and captivating scent, Midnight Shimmer is the perfect finishing touch before a glamorous night out…

So firstly, can we just take a moment to appreciate the bottle? It’s been designed in midnight blue glass with an ombre iridescent glittery gold finish to reflect the elegance of the nighttime sky – and it’s just stunning! It feels quite wintery and Christmassy to me though, which definitely isn’t a bad thing!

The scent itself is a rich, woody fragrance, it’s pretty but not overt girly, and definitely made for evening. There is a powdery element too, but not overly so. The soft musk and sensual vanilla give it a sweet elegance which is both warm and enticing.

Bathed in starlight, the fragrance opens with the succulent sparkle of Quince and highlighted with the fresh dew of Freesia and lush Jasmine Petals. The near-black Vanilla Bean reveals a velvety sensuality. The dry down intrigues with Moss and Peru Balsam touched by a hint of Musk.

  • Top Notes: Quince, Freesia and Jasmine Petals.
  • Heart Notes: Vanilla Bean, Amber Woods and Blonde Woods.
  • Base Notes: Moss, Peru Balsam and Musks.

Michael Kors Midnight Shimmer EDP is from £59.00 for 50ml, and it’s available now at .

Fragrance: Angel Schlesser‏ Pour Elle Sensuelle EDP

Posted on July 27, 2016

Hi Guys!

Angel Schlesser Fragrances have just announced the launch of Pour Elle Sensuelle, the new eau de parfum created by Amandine Marie Clerc, the same perfumer who brought us the original fragrance. The new Pour Elle Sensuelle belongs to the woody floral cedarwood family, and it’s a more intense, more profound, and more mysterious EDP than its predecessor.

A fragrance that defines the secret of femininity according to Schlesser. A sensual fragrance that widens the mystery. A dazzling fragrance. Like her, unaware of the power of her beauty, drawing you in as she walks away… A story of seduction between a mysterious and fascinating stranger and her admirer.

The bottle is both elegant and sophisticated with a modern twist.  It’s made of gorgeous smoky black glass with a heavy gold cap – it exudes class and timelessness and would look stunning on any dressing table.

Let’s take a look at the fragrance –

The scent opens with sweet bergamot, blended with intense and spicy red berries, with an added touch of velvety white peach. The heart includes white flowers that offer the magic of femininity, as well as soft lily, intense jasmine, and the nocturnal orange blossom, which are all entangled with warm and exotic cedar wood. The frangance finishes with a base of sweet yet intense patchouli. The cypriol adds its botanic delicacy and its aromatic power, which contrasts with the vanilla scent of the tonka Bean. A modern and intense note of tanned leather finishes off this sensual and elegant scent.

  • Top Notes: Bergamot, Spicy Red Berries and White Peach.
  • Heart Notes: White Flowers, Lily, Jasmine, Orange Blossom and Cedar Wood.
  • Base Notes: Patchouli, Cypriol, Tonka Bean and Tanned Leather.

Angel Schlesser Pour Elle Sensuelle is £95.00 for 100ml EDP exclusively at Harvey Nichols.

Fragrance: Tom Ford Orchid Soleil

Posted on July 18, 2016

Hi Guys!

When it comes to fragrance, two of my favourite ever scents are by Tom Ford – these are Jasmin Rouge and Black Orchid – so as soon as I heard that Orchid Soleil was on the cards, I knew I had to snap it up as soon as I could.

I bought Orchid Soleil ‘blind’ as soon as I saw it on the Selfridges site, meaning I hadn’t tried it before purchasing – that’s how confident I was that I would love it!

Orchid Soleil is described as a summertime version of the gorgeous Black Orchid, originally launched in 2006. A radiant and sensual force of nature, the new scent captures the seductive warmth and reflective bare skin of the TOM FORD woman…

Orchid Soleil is a vibrant, radiant and sensual scent that is said to capture the magic of the most brilliant sunshine. The composition opens with spicy notes of pink pepper, bitter orange and cypress. Its vibrant heart blooms with red spider lily and tuberose, enveloped by the warm base of chestnut cream, vanilla, patchouli and orchid.

Well… I hate to say it… but I have to be honest and tell you that Orchid Soliel is not for me 🙁

I’m not sure if its just the chemistry – as you probably know scents smell different on different people – or what it is, but I really am beyond disappointed. Just because I was SO excited about picking this up. Unfortunately it does nothing for me, and I would even go as far as to say that on first try I just plain don’t like it – and I really wanted to like it so much!

I’m trying to put my finger on what it is that doesn’t titilate my nostrils – though I must say the longer I leave it on, the more I like don’t mind the fragrance, so maybe there’s something in the top notes that isn’t working for me? I’m not sure.

  • Top Notes: Bitter orange, Pink Pepper and Cypress.
  • Heart Notes: Tuberose.
  • Base Notes: Vanilla, Chestnut cream, Patchouli and Orchid.

On the other hand, the bottle really is to die for. I know packaging isn’t everything – and really isn’t anything if you don’t like the product – but I am a total sucker for pretty packaging, and Orchid Soleil really does tick all the boxes. The bottle is the same classic Art Deco shape as the Black Orchid bottle, but this time finished in wonderful metallic rose gold – what more could a girl want?

Ok so after a good few hours of wear, it is quite a pleasant scent, but I must admit I still do regret buying it. It’s nothing like the Original Black Orchid at all (to me anyway) and I guess I was expecting it to be fairly similar. I’d love to hear if you’ve tried Orchid Soleil and what you think of it?

Tom Ford Orchid Soleil is from £54.00 for 30ml at .

Fragrance: Penhaligon’s Equinox Bloom Eau De Parfum

Posted on July 12, 2016

Hi Guys!

Equinox Bloom is the first scent I’ve tried from Penhaligon’s, it’s such a wonderfully original scent, like nothing I’ve tried before…

Equinox Bloom is Penhaligon’s first ever gourmand fragrance – which basically means it has edible or dessert-like qualities, as well as synthetic notes designed to resemble food flavours. Equinox Bloom was inspired by the quintessentially English tradition of afternoon tea – I pretty much live on tea so this really does tick all the boxes for me. It’s floral yet not in a traditional sense, and it’s definitely a transient scent on me, one moment feeling warm, then cool, with a constant and distinct edible creaminess that I love.

Created by Master Perfumer Olivier Cresp, Equinox Bloom plays with an olfactory palette inspired by the delights of high tea, accompanied by the heady bouquet of the first sweet Spring flowers. Delicious notes of Chantilly, Frangipani and Brown Sugar are blended with violet leaves, orange blossom absolute and jasmine sambac, rounded with the deep, Oriental richness of Benzoin Siam and Ambrox.

The packaging is so very English, quaint, pretty and almost twee – I love it! The bottle is very classic, with a dainty pink bow and a delicate yet colourful print adding a modern touch.

  • Top Notes: Chantilly, Frangipani and Brown Sugar.
  • Heart Notes: Violet Leaves, Orange Blossom Absolute and Jasmine Sambac.
  • Base Notes: Benzoin Siam and Ambrox.

Equinox Bloom EDP is £93.00 for 50ml and available now at .

Fragrance: Olfactive Studio Still Life in Rio

Posted on July 5, 2016

Hi Guys!

I literally cannot get enough of niche fragrances right now, and my latest discovery is Olfactive Studio’s brand new Still Life in Rio

As you’re probably aware, fragrances don’t just appear as if by magic – they have to start somewhere, and are usually inspired by something, someone, or some place. This is the first time Olfactive Studio has created a fragrance in direct response to an image – Still Life in Rio brings photography and perfumery together in harmony, in order to capture a perfect moment in time.

Taken by Brazilian photographer Flavio Veloso, the picture captures Rio’s beauty at that special moment when the sky ignites and spreads its golden shroud. At dawn, he ventured to the emblematic Corcovado where the majestic statue of Christ stands. The picture was snapped from the viewing platform at the peak. A moment in time that conveys strength and fullness.

This really is one of the most beautiful scents I’ve ever had the pleasure of trying. It’s both luminous and exotic, enticing yet not feminine by any means, this is no doubt a fragrance for both a man and a woman. It really is the perfect tribute to the beautiful sunrise in Rio de Janeiro. It’s the first sunlight rising in the morning; the promise of a new day.

This unique fragrance opens with Yuzu, Ginger, Mint and zesty Lemon and Mandarin. The heart blends Coconut Water with both Pink and Black Peppers and Jamaican Hot Peppers for warmth, and the fragrance ends with a smooth of base Rum, Brazilian Copaiba and Accord of White Leather.

  • Top Notes: Yuzu, Ginger, Mint, Lemon and Mandarin.
  • Heart Notes: Pink Pepper, Black Pepper, Coconut Water and Jamaican hot Peppers.
  • Base Notes: Rum, Brazilian Copaiba and Accord of White Leather.

Olfactive Studio Still Life in Rio is £75.00 for 50ml and available now at .
