Five To Try For Dry & Sensitive Skin

Posted on April 9, 2016

products-for-dry-skin-five

Hi Guys!

If you’re a regular reader you’ll probably know by now that I do tend to moan about my skin a bit, as it can be quite problematic, but at other times it’s completely fine. I also had eczema as a child around my eyebrows, which has left me with ongoing dry patches as an adult – and I was also allergic to pretty much everything you can imagine too. So this has left me with sometimes normal, sometimes dry, sometimes sensitive skin, and I will occasionally have a reaction to a product (usually face masks I find) but some are absolutely fine. So it’s really a bit hit and miss for me.

Anyway, I have a few products to share with you today from some of my favourite skincare brands, that have all been working really well so far for my dry and sensitive skin…

products-for-dry-and-sensitive-skin

Starting with the Melvita Nectar Bright Brightening Duo (£25.00) – bi-phase formula products seem to be having a bit of a moment right now (See Lancome’s Juicy Shakers) and Melvita’s latest release has jumped straight on the bandwagon. The Nectar Bright Brightening Duo is basically a liquid exfoliator. You simply shake the bottle to mix the bi-phase floral water and oil, which work together with a patented AHA complex to gently refine and exfoliate the skin without the need for any harsh granules – which is just perfect for my sensitive skin. This product is gentle enough to use on a daily basis, and I love that it’s so quick and easy to use as there’s no need to rinse off, you just follow with your usual moisturiser and Bob’s your uncle! (This product will be available shortly from Melvita)

Next are two fantastic L’Occitane products – the new Soothing Fluid and Comforting Oil – the  is especially formulated for sensitive skin or skin that has been weakened due to environmental stressors – which can lead to tightness, redness and prickling or burning sensations. This product contains a natural complex of protective active ingredients, rosehip and calendula, combined with shea butter to help comfort and soothe skin whilst helping to strengthen skin’s natural defences.

And the  – with it’s gorgeously silky texture and dry finish, is the perfect partner to the Shea Face Soothing Fluid. This oil is perfect for protecting and nourishing very dry or sensitive skin – its 100% natural formula is enriched with shea and marula oils to help the skin to regenerate by strengthening its barrier, leaving your complexion feeling wonderfully soft and supple.

I’ve also recently fallen in love with the (£44.00) – like most beauty fans, I love a pampering face mask, but due to my awkward skin I can occasionally react to them, so I’m usually pretty wary. The new Erborian Bamboo Waterlock Mask is just spot on for me though – it has a deeply hydrating formula containing minerals and amino acids to give an instant hit of freshness to the skin, with a plumping effect. Disospyros kaki, also included in the formula, is known for its astringent and illuminating properties, helping to keep skin supple and toned with its pore tightening effect. My skin doesn’t react to this product at all, and after using it my complexion feels instantly rejuvenated and hydrated.

And lastly the (£18.00) – I don’t really use hand cream that often, as my hands are probably the least problematic area of my skin, but I’ve been frantically cleaning and tidying the house from top to bottom over the last week as we’re putting it on the market, and my hands have definitely been affected by all the cleaning products, becoming dry and feeling tight. I’ve started using the gorgeously scented Velvet Hands Hand Cream though and it’s helping to soothe them already. This product is enriched with L’Occitane’s Almond Youth Complex, which is an exclusive blend of three active ingredients, it also contains UV filters, and stimulates collagen production, helping to protect the youthfulness of your hands.

So there we have it, five fantastic products that are all perfect for dry and sensitive skin! I’d love to hear if you have sensitive skin, and which skincare products you use and would recommend?

The Erborian Detox Collection – A Must for Sensitive Skin

Posted on February 2, 2016

Erborian-Detox-Collection

Hi Guys!

Those of you that have sensitive skin will know what a complete pain it can be. I have insanely awkward skin – awkward in the sense that mostly it’s completely fine, then I’ll have a reaction to something completely out of the blue. It’s pretty frustrating as I never know which products are going to disagree with me.

One of my main problems with having both dry and sensitive skin, is exfoliation. Most products seem to be way too harsh for my delicate complexion – even ones that are specifically marketed as non-harsh or irritating. So finding a way to suitably exfoliate my face without upsetting my skin has been a bit of an ongoing mission for me, until I recently discovered these products by Erborian.

erborian-solid-cleansing-oil

The products I have are from Erborian’s 1-2-3 Detox Ritual: Inspired by the Korean triple cleansing technique to reveal healthy and radiant skin.

So I’ve started using their Solid Cleansing Oil 2-In-1 Make-Up Remover And Face Cleanser Balm (£29.00) – based on the Korean double cleansing method, the Erborian Solid Cleansing Oil combines the performance of a cleansing oil with the gentleness of a cream. This product has a thick, balmy texture which transforms into an oil upon with the warmth of the skin, to help dissolve impurities on the face. When rinsing, it transforms again into a silky lotion, to cleanse skin perfectly and leave behind a protective film. As well as cleansing my skin and removing makeup, this product leaves my complexion feeling fresh and nourished with no tightness at all.

erborian-Double-Mousse-Cleansing-Foam-&-Pore-Treatment

And their Double Mousse Cleansing Foam & Pore Treatment (£22.00) is also fantastic. I was expecting this to feel like a shaving cream foam, but it has more of a light bubbly foam texture, with a lovely light and fresh, almost herby scent. This product gently cleanses the skin to help eliminate impurities, whilst visibly refining skin’s texture for a flawlessly smooth effect. Erborian says ‘Skin is visibly softer, more supple and more luminous.’ and I would definitely agree.

The instructions advise you to apply two pumps, leave on the face for 30 seconds, then rinse with water, I have been doing this but I’ve also been massaging the product in with the Natural Konjac Sponge…

The first image above is the sponge as you receive it out of the packet. It’s bumpy and hard, you then dip it in water for 3 minutes and as it soaks the water up, it ‘fills out’ and ends up in a half sphere shape as above.

When wet, the texture of the sponge is soft, yet has enough roughness to it to effectively exfoliate the skin without irritation. It also helps to stimulate microcirculation as it massages over the skin. I’ve used this a few times now with the above products and my skin is absolutely loving it. The cleansers do a fantastic job of removing makeup as well as making my skin feel squeaky clean, and the Konjac sponge is working fantastically well as a light exfoliator, I’ve only used these a few times so far and my complexion is looking better already!

All the above products are available now from .
