Word-Duty-Free-Beauty-Exclusives

Hi Guys!

Keeping with the travel theme from my last post, I have a wonderful selection of brand new airport exclusive beauty sets that aren’t available on the high street to share with your today.

Whilst travelling to and from New York, I must admit I was very good and managed to resist duty free except for a couple of small treats for Freddy. Duty free really is the icing on the cake when you fly though – I mean who wouldn’t want to save money! If you’re not familiar with World Duty Free, they’re basically your one stop shop for airport shopping, including beauty, jewellery and sunglasses as well as wines and spirits.

World Duty Free have sent me over a selection of their exclusive beauty products, in the form of four fabulous sets – I should also mention that if you’re an organised shopper, it’s definitely worth checking out World Duty Free’s new  facility on their site, which literally lets you reserve your goods and collect at the airport – how handy is that!

Ok so lets take a look at the beauty sets they’ve sent over…

Michael-Kors-Gold-Collection-EDP-Trio

Starting with the Michael Kors Gold Collection EDP Trio (£62.45) – this trio of fragrances really does smell as beautiful as it looks. This sweet little set contains 3x 30ml bottles of Michael Kors Gold Collection fragrances, including – White Luminous Gold – a sparkling and sensuous scent with an intoxicating burst of pear, jasmine and amber. 24K Brilliant Gold, a feminine and seductive fragrance, shimmering with orange mandarin, voluptuous florals and a rousing spark of woodiness. And Rose Radiant Gold, described as tantalizing and hypnotic it entices with a spotlight on sparkling spice, textured with a charming femininity of rich florals and soft musk.

Clarins-French-Beauty-Box-Set

Next the  (£36.00) – this set contains a collection of Clarins iconic skincare must-haves. I absolutely love Clarins products, and I think this set would be perfect as a treat for yourself (you deserve it!) or as a lovely gift. The box contains 30ml’s of the following cult Clarins products – Beauty Flash Balm, Hydraquench Cream, Tonic Body Oil, Gentle Foaming Cleanser (for normal or combination skin) and Moisture-Rich Body Lotion.

Narsissist-Jetsetter-Lip-Pencil-Trio

Now onto the makeup! NARS is always going to be a winner, whether you’re buying for yourself or somebody else, and they have some fantastic sets on offer at World Duty Free. The Narsissist Jetsetter Lip Pencil Trio (£42.00) is a travel exclusive set that contains three full size NARS Lip Pencils in cult-favorite shades – the Jardin des Tuileries Satin Lip Pencil, which is a pretty ballerina pink shade, and the Dolce Vita and Dragon Girl Velvet Matte Lip Pencils, which are a natural pink and an intense bright red. I already have Dragon girl which is one of my all-time favourite red shades.

Narsissist-Jetsetter-Orgasm-Set

And lastly – more NARS! The Narsissist Jetsetter Orgasm Set (£42.00) is a fabulous little set of NARS ‘Orgasm’ classics. Beauty fans will know that ‘Orgasm’ is NARS’ cult blush shade, which has also been incorporated into a whole range of products. You can now pick up a full-size powder Orgasm Blush, and full size hydrating Lip Gloss, as well as a mini sheer Illuminator, and a mini multi-tasking Multiple stick in one handy travel set.

My Clarins Sun Care Prescription for Sensitive Skin

Posted on August 16, 2016

My-Clarins-Sun-Care-Prescription

Hi Guys!

The lovely guys at Clarins have put together a special package of sun protection products just for me today – well I do feel special! We all know how important sun care is, but do we all actually wear a SPF on a daily basis?? I know I don’t – and I really should. My skin is fair, and often sensitive, and also burns pretty easily. I very rarely go out in the sun so I need products that I know will work in terms of protection, as well as being gentle on my often irritated skin. Here’s what Clarins recommended –

First of all we have the Sun Care Spray Gentle Milk-Lotion UVB20 (£18.00 at ) – this is basically sun protection made easy – which is what I’m all about! This is a no-fuss, no-mess milk lotion spray, with a fresh, fluid texture. It’s also water-resistant and ideal for all skin types in strong sunshine.

And next the Clarins Sun Care Cream For Sun-Sensitive Skin UVB30 (£18.00 at ) – as you can tell by the name, this product is specifically made for sensitive skin. It’s a surprisingly light-textured, water-resistant high-protection cream that’s specially formulated for fair and sun-sensitive skins in very strong sunlight.

The Sun Wrinkle Control Cream UVB30 (£20.00 at ) – is described as ideal protection for sun-sensitive skin or skin exposed to intense sunlight. It provides reinforced sun protection with photostable and heat-resistant UVB-UVA filters, and it promises to protect against dehydration as well as helping to prevent the visible signs of premature skin ageing.

And lastly the After Sun Gel Ultra-Soothing (£20.00 at ) – After sun is one of those products I never seem to have in the cupboard, until I actually need it and it’s too late! This ultra-soothing gel rehydrates the skin whilst prolonging your tan. It’s highly refreshing thanks to watermelon extract, and leaves skiing feeling moisturized, soft and supple. Top tip – keep your after sun in the fridge so it’s extra cool and refreshing on application.

Clarins Autumn 2016 Makeup Collection

Clarins-Autumn-2016-Makeup-Collection

Hi Guys!

One of my favourite brands for both skincare and makeup is back again! Clarins have just announced their Autumn 2016 range – which isn’t the biggest collection of products in the world, but when you look at what’s on offer, I think you’ll want it all…

This Autumn, Clarins Make-Up Collection focuses on the eyes allowing you to emphasise, volumise and highlight effortlessly to transform your look from day to night. With textures that care for the skin and are as easy to apply as they are to wear, the new collection will become a staple for everyday make-up to achieve a flawless complexion and beautiful eyes.

clarins-BB-Skin-Detox-Fluid

Let’s start by looking at the BB Skin Detox Fluid SPF 25 (£30.00) – Now I wasn’t too sure what to make of this at first… what on earth is a ‘Detox Fluid’ anyway? We it’s described as being ‘half make-up, half skin care’ and promises to instantly enhance the complexion – giving skin a new lease of life.

The BB Skin Detox Fluid contains beneficial plant extracts, including acerola seed to encourage skin oxygenation, meadowsweet extract to help maintain skin’s balance and aloe vera extract and hyaluronic acid complex to provide all day hydration. It promises to correct imperfections using 3D radiance pigments which optically break up the light into three dimensions to give skin a soft, unified glow.

It feels really nice on the skin – it’s lightweight with a light coverage, which is perfect for those looking for an easy-to-apply light base. There are only two shades available though – 00 Fair and 01 Light, so unfortunately this won’t be suitable for darker skin tones.

Next the Mascara Supra Volume (£21.50) – this is Clarins’ latest volumising Mascara, with a brand new re-invented formula utilising their new Volume Booster Complex: containing carnauba wax powder and cassie flower which together form a film that coats and shapes the lashes, for exceptional and long-lasting volume. Clarins also promises that with repeated application, lash volume will be increased and strengthened – which sounds fantastic to me!

I’ve tried this mascara a couple of times now, and I have to tell you that I love it. It gives fantastic volume to my super short lashes without clumping, and also keeps the lashes separated. I think this has just become my new go-to mascara 🙂 It’s available in 01 Intense Black, or 02 Intense Brown for a more natural look.

clarins-4-Colour-Eyeshadow-Palettes-01-nude

clarins-4-Colour-Eyeshadow-Palettes-04-oud

And lastly, the 4-Colour Eyeshadow Palettes (£34.00) – these gorgeous colour palettes come in four different neutral-toned colour ways specifically to suit different eye colours. Each palette contains a variety of matte, satin and pearlescent shades which can easily be built up to create a more dramatic eye, and they’re also formulated for both wet and dry use. The palettes are as follows –

  • 01 Nude – for blue eyes.
  • 02 Rosewood –  for green eyes.
  • 03 Brown – for brown eyes.
  • 04 Oud (Harrods and Selfridges Exclusive) – for hazel eyes.

These palettes really are fantastic! They’re small enough to pop into a makeup bag or handbag – which I love, and the shades included are just spot on. You’ve got lighter shades for day-wear, darker shades for smokey eyes, and the fact that you can use them wet means you can intensify any looks you wish to create too. These are perfect fool-proof eye palettes for Autumn.

If you’d like to see swatches of anything or have any questions, please do feel free to leave a comment or say hello on social – I’m at smiletrade on Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat 🙂

The Clarins Autumn collection will be available from August 2016.

Clarins-Limited-Edition-Sunkissed-Summer-Makeup-Collection

Hi Guys!

Look beautiful all summer long with Clarins Sunkissed make-up collection. Whether you are tanning by the pool or going out in the warm summer evenings, Clarins creates a flawless complexion, sparkling eyes and fresh, fruity lips with these new beauty essentials for summer. The Sunkissed collection presents a harmony of rich gold and bronze shades to illuminate, giving a glowing complexion.

The collection contains everything you need for beautiful fresh summer looks – with a Bronzing & Blush Compact, a selection of Shimmering Waterproof Eye Colours, a Lip Oil, Fix’ Makeup Setting Spray, and Fix’ Mascara…

The Waterproof Eyeshadow Shimmering Cream Colours (£18.00) are just so beautiful. They come in a selection of four shimmering, easy to wear neutral shades – 01 Golden Peach, 02 Golden Sand (above bottom), 03 Silver Taupe (above top) and 04 Copper Brown.

These cream eyeshadows have a super soft and easily blendable formula which glides beautifully on the eyelids. They include fine pearl particles to provide shimmering colour, and bitter orange tree wax to help create a protective shield against water and humidity, ensuring a long-lasting waterproof hold. If you’re looking for some easy to wear, waterproof eyeshadows for the summer, I’d highly recommend trying these out.

clarins-Instant-Light-Lip-Comfort-Oil-review

clarins-instant-light-lip-comfort-oil-swatch

Next is the Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil in 03 Red Berry (£19.00) – this is a wonderfully juicy and sweetly scented lip oil, with a hint of colour that leaves lips with a light berry tint. The first thing that hit me about this product was the smell, it’s amazingly sweet and reminds me of something – sweets probably! – from when I was a child. It really does smell good enough to eat! It also has a completely non-sticky formula, containing nourishing hazelnut oil, annatto oil and organic jojoba oils, to leave lips feeling nourished and comfortable for hours on end.

And the Double Fix’ Mascara (£20.00) – now with a new and improved formula, this is basically a clear top coat made specifically to make your current favourite mascara waterproof – you can also wear on its own for super glossy lashses, or use it as as an invisible brow tamer. Again, this formula is enriched with bitter orange tree wax, to help create a protective, water repellent shield, ensuring long-lasting, waterproof results.

clarins-Fix-MakeUp-review

And lastly the Fix’ Make-Up (£24.00) – now I’m really hoping this will be the answer to all my problems where it comes to my makeup melting off my face in the summer. This is a super fine and delicate mist with cooling properties, it hydrates the skin whilst setting your makeup, by forming an invisible, fixing veil over the face.

The formula contains Aloe vera for maintaining skin hydration, Allantoin to sooth, and Clarins exclusive Anti-Pollution Complex to protect the skin from external aggressors. Fix’ Make-Up also has a lovely light scent of grapefruit extract and organic rose floral water to refresh both the skin and senses.

I think this is such a fabulous collection, the Waterproof Eye Colours and Fix’ Make-Up are definitely my favourites – I just need to get my hands on the Bronzing & Blush Compact now!

New Clarins Boosters: Energy / Repair / Detox

Posted on March 24, 2016

clarins-boosters-review

Hi Guys!

Clarins’ latest offering to the world of skincare is something a little different – and I think I rather like it! They’ve come up with a range of ‘Boosters’ – basically highly concentrated products for specific concerns, and you just add a couple of drops of to your current skincare or foundation, as and when you need it. So for example, if you’re feeling a bit run down you might make sure you get some extra Vitamin C into your diet, with Clarin’s Boosters, if you’re feeling a bit under the weather you might add a couple of drops of the Energy Booster to your moisturiser to perk up, of if you’ve had a hard night on the tiles you could add some Detox Booster to your foundation the next day – this one pretty much explains itself!

‘The new Boosters are incredibly easy to apply, deliver exceptional results and more importantly, give every woman’s skin a boost in their time of need.’

BOOSTER Energy – The energising care for fatigued skin. This highly concentrated formula contains ginseng extract, a Chinese medicinal plant know for its stimulating properties. This booster tones and re-energizes skin whilst minimizing signs of fatigue and reviving radiance. Perfect for:

  • Late nights
  • Hectic lifestyle
  • Long haul travel
  • Fatigue

BOOSTER Repair – The repairing care for weakened skin. This ultra-concentrated formula contains mimosa tenuiflora extract, a Mayan medicinal plant known for its repairing properties. This booster reduces feelings of discomfort and diminishes redness by optimizing the skin’s strength and in turn its recovery. Perfect for:

  • Sunburn
  • Extreme climates
  • Hard, salt or chlorinated water

BOOSTER Detox – The detox care for congested skin. This highly enriched formula contains green coffee extract, a plant from tropical Africa high in caffeine and known for its detoxifying properties. This booster detoxifies and purifies to revive radiance and plump the skin. Perfect for:

  • Partying
  • Overindulgence
  • Extreme pollution

I just love the theory behind these range or products, and they couldn’t be easier to use – you just mix 3 to 5 drops with your moisturiser, mask or foundation, and apply as normal – easy!

Clarins Booster droppers will be available from April, at £30 each.

Clarins Multi-Active Day and Night Creams

Posted on February 28, 2016

clarins-day-and-night-cream-review

Hi Guys!

One of my favourite beauty brands, Clarins is back on the blog today, and this time with a couple of brand new skincare products.

Their new Multi-Active day and Night Creams aim to visibly diminish the first signs of ageing, restore radiance, hydrate as well as maintain younger looking skin. Clarins describe them as ‘Multi-tasking skincare’, designed with your busy lifestyle in mind.

There are four day creams – one for all skin types, one for dry skin, one with added SPF20, and a also a light weight SPF15 lotion. For evening there are two options available, a standard night cream for dry skin, and a lighter version for normal to combination skin.

clarins-multi-active-cream-review

It’s great to hear that Clarins really have done their research when creating these products. They started off by asking women across the world aged between 30 and 39 what they thought affected the appearance of their skin the most – and they found lack of sleep and stress were the most popular responses.

Clarins’ own research has also proven this to be true. They found that stress and a lack of sleep can lead to an overproduction of free radicals which affect the main cell responsible for youthful skin: the fibroblast. This cell ensures the smooth, toned look of the skin due to its production of collagen and elastin fibres, so when it becomes worn out due to lack of sleep or stress, we start to notice the first visible signs of ageing, including fine lines and a dull complexion.

To give the Fibroblasts a helping hand, Clarins have used cutting edge technology to harness the power of plant extract Teasel, which has been selected to revitalise and protect tired and stressed skin by encouraging the production of ATP, an energising molecule, which also helps to fight free radicals.

clarins-face-cream-review

I have the Multi-Active Day Dry Skin Cream – this is specifically designed for dry skin, helping to prevent and visibly correct the appearance of fine lines, thanks to the new organic Myrothamnus extract. The Myrothamnus plant originates from South Africa, and in the dry season the plant’s cells produce a substance called trehalose which allows them to rehydrate. In turn this helps protect dermal cells from harmful effects of stress and to keep skin smooth and radiant.

The Multi-Active Day Dry Skin Cream has a wonderfully hydrating formula that melts into the skin. It’s also enriched with light-reflecting ‘radiance’ pigments to illuminate and hydrate the complexion, and has a subtle-floral fragrance with notes of cherry and white lily, to revive and refresh.

I also have the Multi-Active Night Cream – this contains organic California Golden poppy extract, which helps to offset the damaging effects of late nights and interrupted sleep – this sounds perfect for me!

To explain this a bit more-  at night, the skin fights damage caused by stress by producing a hormone called melatonin. Due to interruptions in the sleep cycle or a reduction in the length of sleep, this process is disrupted, meaning lower amounts of the hormone are secreted and damage intensifies. The Golden poppy extract helps to stimulate the synthesis of collagen and fight the harmful effects of free radicals in the skin, helping skin to become visibly smoothed and more toned upon waking.

So the idea is that you apply this before bed, and wake up with smoother skin and redefined features. The Multi-Active Night Cream also works to prevent as well as correct the appearance of fine lines, whilst nourishing and hydrating the skin. I also want to mention the lovely calming and relaxing fragrance which is perfect for bed time. It includes notes of jasmine, freesia and heliotrope to help soothe the mind.

clarins-multi-adctive-nuit-review

Both creams are lightly scented and feel thick and luxurious, and I love that they both sink into the skin really quickly leaving no residue. I must say I think the Night cream is my favourite though, I’ve used it a few times now and I always wake up with super soft skin the mornings after using it.

Clarins Multi-Active Day and Night Creams are available to purchase now from .

I’d love to hear if you’re a fan of Clarins skincare? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

clarins-instant-glow-collection

Hi Guys!

Clarins have recently announced the launch of their new Instant Glow Spring Make-up Collection – and as expected, it includes a gorgeous range of products, perfect for the winter to spring transition.

Clarins wants women to glow with confidence this spring. Emerging from the cold winter nights, comes a collection that will brighten eyes with flattering iridescent shades, add a flush of rose to icy cheeks and a swipe of colour and gloss to chapped lips. Indulge in the radiant and blossoming shades of this Instant Glow collection.

clarins-instant-glow-eyeshadow

The Cream to Powder Ombre Iridescent Eyeshadow in 06 Silver Green (£19.00) is just stunning. I already have a few of the Ombre Iridiscent Eyeshadows and they never fail to impress me. I love the beautiful cream-to-powder formula that glides on the lid with ease, and they each have a gorgeous light shimmer too.

Silver Green is one of four new shades in this range, including Silver Ivory, Silver Pink, Silver Green and Silver Plum.

clarins-instant-glow-multi-blush

The Cream Multi-Blush in 05 Rose (£18.50) is definitely another winner from this collection. This dinky little blush is small but perfectly formed, with a lightweight cream formula that’s a dream to work with. Shade 05 Rose is a pretty coral pink shade that works wonderfully well on my fair complexion to give a lovely flush of colour to the cheeks.

clarins-instant-glow-lipsticks

Clarins have also brought out four new shades of their popular Rouge Eclat Age-Defying Lipstick (£19.50) The Instant Glow collection includes: Hot Rose, Pink Blossom, Pink Cherry and Rose Praline. I have Rose Praline (above left) which is a beautiful muted rose shade, and Hot Rose, which is a bright and intense coral pink.

clarins-instant-glow-lip-perfector-plum-shimmer

And lastly the Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector (£18) comes in two new shades for this collection –  Toffee Pink Shimmer and Plum Shimmer. I have Plum Shimmer, which is a beautiful mid plum shade that smells of sweet vanilla.

clarins-instant-glow-collection-swatches

You can see the lipsticks give a gorgeous semi-sheer, balmy finish. They feel moisturising on the lips and last a good couple of hours before you need to re-apply, and the Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector gives a sheer glossy finish with a hint of colour.

The collection also includes a Limited Edition Natural Glow 5-Colour Eye Shadow Palette (£33.00) – which I unfortunately don’t have. It looks like a beautiful wearable palette though so I wanted to mention it too!

clarins-instant-glow-makeup

I’m beyond impressed with all of these products, Clarins have been one of my favourite brands for makeup for a long time, and they just continue to bring out fantastic, easy to use, and very wearable products, the Instant Glow collection is definitely worth checking out!

The Instant Glow Spring Makeup Collection is available now from .
