Must Have Spring Beauty!

Posted on March 9, 2016

Hi Guys!

I know it’s a bit late, but Happy International Women’s day for yesterday!.. 🙂

As you can probably guess, this post was supposed to go live yesterday, but if you follow me on Twitter you may have noticed I wasn’t having the best day – pretty much everything that could go wrong did go wrong! So between trying to get everything sorted out and work shifts and seeing to Fred, I didn’t get a chance to finish this post.

Anyway, onwards and upwards hey! I’ve been trying out some gorgeous new beauty products lately, and I’ve put together my recommendations for a few ‘must have’ products for Spring – enjoy!

So to start with, I had to include the  (£4.00) – fans of the brand will know that every year, to mark International Women’s Day L’Occitane launches an exclusive product to support women in developing countries. They’ve actually been working with women of Burkina Faso for over 30 years now to produce the fantastic shea butter used in their products.

The Ultra Soft Balm is this year’s product. It’s a fab little multi-purpose moisturiser, containing 98.6% shea butter, it’s super nourishing and can be used pretty much anywhere on the body. It lt also has a lovely light rose scene and comes in a pretty tin which is the perfect size to keep in your bag for application on the go.

L’Occitane will be donating 100% of profits from this product to fund special local projects to support the women of Burkina Faso – so this is definitely a must have.

I don’t know about you, but now we’re moving into the spring, I’m all about glowing, healthy looking skin. And this  (£12.50) is perfect for giving your complexion a lovely light sheen. If you’re not a fan of foundations or coloured bases, you can wear this on it’s own to give skin a healthy glow, or if you wear foundation, its also great as a primer. Personally I’ve been mixing it with my current base to give my skin a touch more luminosity.

Though I love the idea of natural, glowing skin, unfortunately my complexion is less than perfect right now, so I still like to conceal blemishes and my under eye dark circles. Lately I’ve been loving the  (£17.50) – this concealer gives fantastic buildable coverage that doesn’t settle into fine lines. The formula is super lightweight and demi-matte to give a ‘second skin’ feel too, which I love. There’s nothing worse than cakey looking and feeling concealer!

Highlighters are also really popular right now – and I’ve literally just fallen in love with the  (£25.00) – it’s a gorgeous duo powder created specifically to warm and brighten the complexion. The formula is not glittery or sparkly in any way, this is pure ethereal glow in a compact and I can’t get enough of it! Both powders actually look pretty similar on my swatch above, but one is more of a pale gold, which is fantastic for adding warmth to the complexion, and the other is a light rose pink which is great for adding brightness and luminosity.

On to blusher now, and this  (£12.50) is just perfect to add a touch of sun kissed glow to paler complexions. The swatch above is a swirl around the pan mixing the gold and coral shades together – you can see the colour is very subtle, and has a touch of shimmer. This works really well applied a bit heavier on the apples of the cheeks, or lightly applied over the face almost like a bronzer to give skin a radiant glow.

On to lips now, and I’m very pleased to say I’ve been trying out one of the rather fabulous and highly anticipated  (£18.00) – I mean, it’s a lip product that looks like a cocktail shaker, need I say any more?

Ok I will, so as a teen of the 90’s and coming of age around the 2000’s, Lancome’s Juicy Tubes were a must have for makeup enthusiasts – my friend actually bought me one for my 17th or 18th birthday and I was absolutely made up! Lancome have now launched their latest product in the Juicy range – the Juicy Shaker! This combines the juicy lip look from their original Juicy Tubes but in the style of the Shaker, one of Lancome’s early products from 1946 based on a cocktail shaker.

So basically this product has a biphasic formula, meaning it has two phases, which need to be shaken up and mixed before application. Juicy Shakers combine a special blend of oils with an infusion of pigments, that when shaken, gives a sheer vibrant lip colour that feels silky, smooth and comfortable on the lips with no stickiness. It’s also worth mentioning the interesting looking cushion applicator – it’s short and stubby, and velvety soft to touch. Kind of like a pointed velvet sponge which absorbs the product ready for application.

I love how this feels on my lips, it’s basically like a coloured lip oil – and there are also 14 shades available which each have different fragrances too. This is definitely a spring beauty must have!

Whilst on the subject of fresh and rosy lips, I also have the rather aptly named  (£18.00) – this fantastic balm moisturises, protects and soothes lips, with added SPF 15 and an exclusive blend of moisture-preserving sugar, nourishing precious oils and antioxidant-rich polyphenols to leave lips feeling wonderfully soft and supple with a pretty rosy tint.

And lastly, at the other end of the spectrum to glossy, shiny and silky lips, we have matte liquid lipsticks – another trend which has shown no signs of slowing down. Everyone wants gorgeous pigmented matte lips that won’t budge – including me, so I’ve included two of my favourite brands here – LA Splash and Coloured Raine. Both brands are US based (sorry) but they do both offer fantastic liquid lipsticks in a massive range of colours, that are really quite reasonably priced. I definitely recommend checking both sites out if you’re looking for a liquid lipstick.

I hope you enjoyed my post! I’d love to hear which products you’d recommend for spring? xxx

Clarins Instant Glow Spring Makeup Collection

Posted on February 2, 2016

Hi Guys!

Clarins have recently announced the launch of their new Instant Glow Spring Make-up Collection – and as expected, it includes a gorgeous range of products, perfect for the winter to spring transition.

Clarins wants women to glow with confidence this spring. Emerging from the cold winter nights, comes a collection that will brighten eyes with flattering iridescent shades, add a flush of rose to icy cheeks and a swipe of colour and gloss to chapped lips. Indulge in the radiant and blossoming shades of this Instant Glow collection.

The Cream to Powder Ombre Iridescent Eyeshadow in 06 Silver Green (£19.00) is just stunning. I already have a few of the Ombre Iridiscent Eyeshadows and they never fail to impress me. I love the beautiful cream-to-powder formula that glides on the lid with ease, and they each have a gorgeous light shimmer too.

Silver Green is one of four new shades in this range, including Silver Ivory, Silver Pink, Silver Green and Silver Plum.

The Cream Multi-Blush in 05 Rose (£18.50) is definitely another winner from this collection. This dinky little blush is small but perfectly formed, with a lightweight cream formula that’s a dream to work with. Shade 05 Rose is a pretty coral pink shade that works wonderfully well on my fair complexion to give a lovely flush of colour to the cheeks.

Clarins have also brought out four new shades of their popular Rouge Eclat Age-Defying Lipstick (£19.50) The Instant Glow collection includes: Hot Rose, Pink Blossom, Pink Cherry and Rose Praline. I have Rose Praline (above left) which is a beautiful muted rose shade, and Hot Rose, which is a bright and intense coral pink.

And lastly the Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector (£18) comes in two new shades for this collection –  Toffee Pink Shimmer and Plum Shimmer. I have Plum Shimmer, which is a beautiful mid plum shade that smells of sweet vanilla.

You can see the lipsticks give a gorgeous semi-sheer, balmy finish. They feel moisturising on the lips and last a good couple of hours before you need to re-apply, and the Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector gives a sheer glossy finish with a hint of colour.

The collection also includes a Limited Edition Natural Glow 5-Colour Eye Shadow Palette (£33.00) – which I unfortunately don’t have. It looks like a beautiful wearable palette though so I wanted to mention it too!

I’m beyond impressed with all of these products, Clarins have been one of my favourite brands for makeup for a long time, and they just continue to bring out fantastic, easy to use, and very wearable products, the Instant Glow collection is definitely worth checking out!

The Instant Glow Spring Makeup Collection is available now from .

I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Makeup Revolution: The Matte Blush Collection

Posted on October 2, 2015

Hi Guys!

Makeup Revolution just don’t stop do they! They’ve only been around for about a year and a half and at a guess I’d estimate they’ve produced well over 500 products by now. Crazy stuff!

Ok so today I have their latest blushers to show you. This is the Matte Blush collection, including six large flat pan blushers with glossy black bases and clear flip top lids…

Don’t they just look so pretty!?

Ok so the first two shades are New Rules on the left and Beloved on the right. Yes New Rules does look pretty intimidating – would I reach for this shade? Probably not automatically, but in fact it does look lovely used very sparingly. (This is actually a great shade for a pale english rose complexion) Beloved is a bit more of an easier shade on the eye, but it’s actually brighter than in the photo. This pretty pinky peach is perfect for brightening the complexion.

The next two are probably the easiest colours to wear out of the collection. Nude is a light peachy nude shade which would suit fairer complexions and Fusion is actually very similar to Nude, but slightly deeper and warmer with more of a lean towards terracotta. This would look gorgeous on darker skin tones.

And lastly, just look at these bad boys! Dare and Divine, are a couple of fantastic blue toned pinks. Dare is on the darker side – and I think I understand why they’ve called it Dare! Divine is a slightly more forgiving Barbie pink.

You can see from the swatches that they are all really well pigmented. Don’t let the intensity of the colours put you off though. I’ve just swatched them heavily for you so you can see the potential of the colours, with a light hand these look really pretty when applied for a hint or colour. I particularly love Beloved and Nude.

These blushers are definitely worth giving a go. For only £3.00 each they’re a complete bargain!

The Matte Blush collection is available now at .

So what do you think, do any of these shades take your fancy?

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

My First Experience of Inika Cosmetics

Posted on February 24, 2015

Hi Guys!

You know me, nothing excites me more than trying out new makeup brands, and that’s exactly what I’m doing today! Inika Cosmetics is brand I’d previously heard of, but I hadn’t had the chance to get my hands on their products until now!

Inika is all about high quality, natural cosmetics, and they want to prove to the world that natural make-up doesn’t have to compromise on performance or style. Their range now boasts over 35 awards for product excellence and innovation, it’s 100% natural and ethical, and they are committed to maintaining their Certified Organic, Cruelty-Free, Halal and Vegan status.

Ok so I know this is a super long list, but I really wanted to include it just so you can see how committed they are to keeping their products completely natural. They guarantee their products are free of the following ingredients:

  • No petrochemicals, synthetic substances or mineral oils
  • No ingredients of animal origin
  • No talc or bismuth oxychloride
  • No parabens (Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Methylparaben, Isobutylparaben and Propylparaben)
  • No harmful fillers
  • No genetically modified ingredients
  • No fragrances or colour components of non-organic or synthetic origin
  • No anti-microbial agents produced from non-organic sources
  • No chelating agents based on EDTA and its salts
  • No fatty chain source material of petrochemical origin
  • No sulphonation, ethoxylation or propoxylation
  • No alkyl sulphates (eg. sodium lauryl sulphate, sodium coco sulphate, ammonium lauryl sulphate)
  • No alkyl ether sulphates (eg. sodium laureth sulphate, ammonium laureth sulphate)
  • No polyethylene glycol (PEGS)
  • No polysorbates (eg. polysorbate 20)
  • No ethanolamides (eg. cocamide DEA, cocamide MEA)
  • No chemically synthesized sunscreens
  • No potentially harmful preservatives such as parabens and sodium benzoate
  • No gluten or lactose

So yeah, pretty impressive right! Now let’s take a look at the products…

Firstly I tried the Certified Organic Lip Liner in 02 Moroccan Rose (13.50)

This lip liner is a rather beautiful frosted rose / coral shade, which catches the light and gives a lovely almost iridescent look. Although this colour is pretty unusual and awesome, I appreciate it may not be everybody’s cup of tea as it’s quite an out there shade (my swatch below really doesn’t do it justice unfortunately). Also, you’d either need to find a lipstick to match which may prove difficult (Inika do sell a range of lipsticks, but I’m unsure if any of them match with this pencil) or wear carefully over your lips. This pencil does glide on easily though, whilst staying put and has a handy sharpener on the lid. It also comes in two other shades, Safari and Sugar Plum.

Next is the Truly Organic Perfection Concealer in Light (£21.00)

I really wanted to like this but no matter how I attempted to use it, I just felt like it didn’t quite do the job. I tried it on my under eyes first, where I pretty much always have dark bags, and this just didn’t give me the coverage I needed. I appreciate that sometimes the under eye area requires more coverage than other areas (mine does anyway) so I also tried it to cover a couple of spots, but again the formula didn’t seem pigmented enough. This was just too sheer for me unfortunately. The only side is the finish – where other concealers can appear cakey and crack, this doesn’t at all and has a very natural looking finish.

Next is the Mineral Eyeshadow in Honeycomb 17 (£14.50)

This dinky pot of loose eyeshadow, is definitely a winner on the other hand! You get 1.2g of product (I said it was dinky) and the formula really is silky smooth. The Honeycomb shade is the perfect base shade for me as I’m super pale, I used this all over the lid and it gives a very light and sheer, velvety soft finish.

And lastly the Mineral Blusher Puff Pot in Rosy Glow (£17.00)

Now I love the look of this! The Blusher Puff Pot contains loose powder blush in the bottom chamber, which then seeps through the super soft puff which is fixed on top. You just pat the puff on your face to apply, and there’s a handy mini mirror on the top of the lid too. Ok so I love the packaging, it’s too cute, and I have to say I quite like the blush shade too. Rosy Glow is a muted pink with a delicate hint of sparkle, it has quite a sheer formula but it can be easily built up if required.

So there we have it for Inika Cosmetics! I love the fact that the products are completely natural, and ethical, and I understand that it must be a pretty difficult job for Inika to create high quality products whilst sticking to their ethics. So overall I’m actually pretty impressed with these products – apart from the concealer (maybe it’s just my skin, I don’t know but I couldn’t get on with it) I would be interested to try a few other products out such as their foundations and lipsticks as I’ve heard these are great products too!

I’d love to hear if you’ve tried Inika cosmetics before? I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx

My First Experience of Milani Cosmetics

Posted on February 2, 2015

Hi Guys!

Just take a look at these ridiculously gorgeous products from Milani Cosmetics! How pretty are they!? Milani has been on my radar for a while, but you don’t really hear too much about them this side of the pond, and apart from the word on the street being that their baked cosmetics are a great dupes for MAC’s MSF’s, they don’t really have any hyped up, must have products either – that I know of anyway!

So I was recently given the chance to try some Milani products out, and completely jumped at the opportunity so I could see for myself what they’re all about. I went for a baked bronzer, blush and eyeshadow, and a pretty powder blush.

There’s no denying that the Powder Blush in 01 Romantic Rose is the prettiest of the bunch. This stunning 3D rose pressed powder, I’ve found out, was originally a limited edition but has now been added to the permanent line due to high demand. There’s no denying this is a beautiful looking product – it also comes in three shades, it’s well pigmented and really does give amazing colour payoff.

Romantic Rose is such a pretty, easy to wear shade, and it’s also worth mentioning this is a pretty big product too, you’re getting a massive 17g of blush here so it’s going to last you forever.

The Baked Blusher in 05 Luminoso, though not as pretty as the powder blush, is just the most beautiful summery shade of peachy coral. Luminoso, true to it’s name, really does give a luminous glow and brightens the complexion. It’s one of those fantastically versatile shades that suits my fair skin, but I think would look equally as good on darker skin tones. Luminoso is just a super pretty, flattering shade that gives a sheer wash of colour to enhance and warm up the complexion. I’m so glad I picked this shade, I can see myself getting a lot of use out of this!

And I almost forgot to say, you can open the compact up to reveal a super handy brush and interior mirror too!

Milani’s Baked Eyeshadow in 01 Bella Ivory also has a fantastic luminescence to it. The pan is shaped with a slight indent in the middle and an all over printed pattern which really looks beautiful when it catches the light. Bella Ivory is a pretty, easy to wear warm toned white shade with a slight sheen, and it has a lovely soft texture that’s easy to work with and blend.

And lastly the Baked Bronzer in 06 Golden, though beautiful again, I instantly thought this shade would be too dark for me! You can see this is a lovely chocolate brown colour with gold flecks throughout, and everything about it reminds me of MAC’s MSF’s – from the size of the compact to the look of the product. These Baked Bronzers also come in three shades – Glow, Soleil and Golden and although Golden does look super dark, it’s actually quite a lovely shade, and worn very sparingly, I think even lighter skin tones could pull this off.

Like MAC’s MSF’s these bronzers have a lovely sparkle and shimmer, which gives the face a healthy dose of golden glow. The Baked Bronzers also come in the same style compact as the blushers – opening up to reveal a mirror and brush underneath which I love as you can just throw them in your bag and go!

All of these products are fantastic value for money at £6.99 or less, and considering the whole range of Milani Cosmetics come in at under £8.00 at , I’m so impressed with everything I’ve been trying out. I think the Baked Blusher has to be my favourite out of everything, but I’m also keen to get my hands on the lighter shades of Baked Bronzer too!

Have you tried Milani Cosmetics before? I’d love to hear if you have any recommendations and I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx

NEW Makeup Revolution Blush & Contour Palette in Golden Sugar

Posted on December 2, 2014

Hi Guys!

Today I have the much coveted from Makeup Revolution to share with you. This is my first experience of MUR blushers and this palette really does look gorgeous!

Our ULTRA Blush & Contour palettes are perfect for the professional application desired by all of us, and perfect for highlighting and contouring too. Professional and highly pigmented, yet easy to blend, these contain 8 shades consisting of shimmer and matte blushers, merged baked blusher, and merged baked highlighter powder. The ULTIMATE blush palette offering you 8 shades in 1 to suit any occasion! 8 exclusive and unique shades in each palette can be either used individually or combined to create the shade that you want. With a selection of matte and shimmers, merged and highlighting powder in each palette and set in a mirrored compact for touch ups on the go.

I’m such a big fan of palettes, I really can’t get enough of them, and Makeup Revolutions offerings do not disappoint! The Golden Sugar palette consists of eight shades, with five having a shimmer finish and one matte. You really have everything you need in this super handy slimline palette to create a multitude of looks.

The single matte shade is a warm mid brown which is excellent for contouring – if you’re pale like me though you’ll need a light touch so not to look muddy. The rest of the shimmer shades range from a silver-white through pink, peach, gold and golden brown. Four of the five shimmers have a beautiful marbled effect where you can see strains of different colours running through the shades, this really does give the shades and palette an overall luxe feel.

The thing I love most about this palette is that it’s so versatile. I’ve been using the shades as blush, contour, highlight, and they also make really pretty shimmery eyeshadows too! It’s such a fab mult-use palette I think everyone needs one of these in their makeup bag. I should also mention the massive mirror which fills the whole of the inside lid. I never really appreciated large mirrors before until the other day I picked up my Anastasia Amrezy palette and realised how tiny the inside mirror was in comparison.

For just £6 this palette is beyond being a bargain, that’s 75p per shade, without even considering the packaging! The Golden Sugar palette would make a perfect stocking filler or secret santa present, I think anyone would be happy to open this on Christmas day!

The Ultra Blush & Contour Palette in Golden Sugar is £6 from .

I hope you enjoyed my review! xxx
