Cohorted April Beauty Box | Review

Posted on April 13, 2015

Hi Guys!

April’s Cohorted box has finally arrived, and oh it’s a good one! This months box contains a great range of products from some fabulous high end brands including Bare Minerals, MAC, ARK Skincare and Korres. So let’s take a look what’s in the box…

  • bare Minerals Heavenly Face Brush – worth £22
  • MAC Sheertone Shimmer Blush in Dolly Mix – worth £18
  • ARK Skincare Age Prepare Purifying Masque – worth £10
  • Korres Body Butter in Mulberry Vanilla – worth £19.50

The total value is £69.50, pretty good hey!

I’d just like to point out that these boxes are only £19.99 each, so this one alone contains over three times that in the value of products!

I’m a big fan of bare Minerals cosmetics and I’m currently loving their Mineral Veil powder, so I was really happy to find one of their brushes included in this months box. The Heavenly Face Brush has soft densely packed bristles with a blunt cut head, so it’s perfect for buffing foundation into the skin for an even complexion.

I was a little surprised but over the moon to discover an actual MAC product too! I mean wow! I don’t own many MAC blushes so this blush in Dolly Mix is a welcome addition to my collection. It’s a medium pink shade with a Sheertone Shimmer finish, so it can be worn sheerly for a hint of colour, or easily built up for a more intense look. I think Dolly Mix will suit most complexions too.

And look, an ARK skincare product! You may have noticed I’m using their Age Maintain range at the moment, and my skin is just loving their products – I’ll have an update on how I’m getting on with them on the blog tomorrow so be sure to check that out. The Skin Purifying Masque is from the Age Prepare range which is aimed at teens to those in their oily 30’s, it’s perfect for oily and congested skin, helping to absorb oil and reduce the appearance of enlarged pores and diminishes blemishes.

And lastly the Korres Mulberry Vanilla body butter, it actually smells good enough to eat! This comes in a massive 235ml tube so will last for a very long time. It has an extra nourishing formula, and it’s aimed at those with dry skin so I think I’m going to love this.

Overall I’m really happy with this box, I definitely think it’s one of the best yet. I would say my only criticism would be the Korres product though. I do actually really like the look of it but I think Korres products seem to pop up quite a lot in beauty boxes so I’d rather see a different brand in future if I had the choice. That’s my only criticism though! Let’s hope Cohorted will continue to surprise us with more fantastic brands moving forward! You can pre-order May’s box on the 15th (the pre order date is always the 15th of the month for the next month which might be worth noting) If you are interested in May’s box I’d make sure to get in there quick, every month these boxes sell out pretty much instantly.

I’d love to hear what you think of this box? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Cohorted March Beauty Box | Review

Posted on March 14, 2015

Hi Guys!

It doesn’t seem like two minutes ago I was sharing the exciting news about Cohorted’s brand new beauty boxes, and here we are with their second offering! Unfortunately for some, all 300 of March’s boxes sold out in the blink of an eye so this one isn’t available for purchase any more (April’s will be shortly available though – details at the end of this post). Anyway the box arrived with me this morning and I couldn’t wait to get stuck in! There are some fantastic brands in this months’ box, and this is what I received…

  • Too Faced Exotic Color Eye Shadow in Copper Peony – worth £15.00
  • Sleek Precious Metals Highlighter Palette – worth £9.99
  • Bare Minerals Pure Transformation Night Treatment – worth £45.00
  • Urban Decay Perversion Mascara – sample size worth £5.00

The total value is £74.99 – wow!

I should also mention that the lovely peeps at Cohorted have hidden a Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Eye shadow Palette in five of March’s Beauty Boxes. Let me know if you’re a lucky winner! Last month they included an Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette in five boxes, so I really hope this is going to be a regular monthly occurrence!

I’m super impressed with the products in this box, I already have the Sleek palette already, but a girl can never have enough palettes, right? This box contains some of my favourite ever brands, so let’s take a look at the products –

too-faced-copper-peony-eyeshadow-review too-faced-copper-peony-eyeshadow-swatch

Ok so I’ll admit, I’ve been so enamoured with Too Faced’s amazing palettes, I’d never really looked into their other eye products, such as their single eyeshadows. From looking at the Too Faced site I can see the Exotic Color shadows come in twelve different shades – but everyone will receive the same one in their Cohorted box. Copper Peony is a beautiful high shimmer copper shade, and I’m completely in love with this colour. It’s just so pretty, summery and will suit pretty much everyone. The formula is spot on too – as expected from Too Faced. It was so amazingly well pigmented and felt buttery soft to apply. I really love this shadow!

Next is the Sleek Precious Metals palette, I already have this so rather than repeat myself I’ll just link you to my review here 🙂

The Bare Minerals Pure Transformation Night Treatment is an interesting looking product. I’ve never come across a night treatment that wasn’t a cream, liquid or serum before, and I have to say the idea of putting powder on my face before going to bed feels quite odd! The Pure Transformation Night Treatment is worth a massive £45, and I know price shouldn’t indicate quality, but for that price you’d hope it would work! It’s supposed to transform and replenish your skin whilst you sleep, leaving you looking radiant in the morning. It’s also clinically proven to reduce the appearance of pores and deliver faster cell turnover leaving you with increased luminosity, and it instantly diffuses imperfections so your skin will look miraculously renewed. Now this all sounds rather fabulous, but does it actually work? I’ll start using it tonight so look out for my review in the coming weeks!

And last’y Urban Decay’s Perversion Mascara. I must admit as much as I love Urbad Decay, I was never bothered about trying this product because the Perversion Eyeliner Pencil really disagreed with my eyes. I love UD eyeliner pencils usually, but there was something in Perversion that irritated and made my eyes water like crazy, so the mascara of the same name never appealed to me. I know they’re completely different products but I was still put off! I’ve been wearing the Perversion Mascara for a couple of hours now and I’m happy to say my eyes are fine! I wouldn’t say I’m wowed by it but it’s a good little every day mascara.

This box really is such great value, it’s only £19.99 so to get £74.99 worth of products inside is amazing! Also, Cohorted have increased the size of the box slightly since last month, and added an integrated ribbon so it’s really east to re-use the box for other uses. As I mentioned previously, this box has sold out, but April’s will be available for pre order from 15/03/15 . Make sure you snap one up quickly though as they’ll be sure to sell out super fast again!

Did you purchase one of these boxes? I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx

Pur Minerals 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Foundation | Review

Posted on February 10, 2015

Hi Guys!

Today I want to tell you about the Pur Minerals 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup Compact!

Pur Minerals are similar to Bare Minerals in the sense that their products are mineral based (of course!) I love Bare Minerals products so I’m hoping I’ll love this foundation too!

If you haven’t heard of Pur Minerals, I’ll give you a bit of background on them… ‘Pür Minerals combine the finest ingredients in nature with the latest in skincare technology. The multi-tasking formulas work with the skin to correct, prevent and interrupt common concerns for radiant results that are visible even after the makeup is removed. Known as The Complexion Authority™, Pür Minerals has carved out a Pür ‘difference’ by bridging the gap between mineral cosmetics and full service skincare through incredible, unique formula’s that harness cutting edge technology. Pür Minerals contain NO harsh chemical dyes, petroleum-based oils, fragrance or fillers, just pure mineral pigments and nourishing ingredients that ALL skin types can enjoy.

The  (£24.00) is made to brighten and smooth uneven skin tone and it aims to give a renewed radiance to dull and discoloured skin. I love that this foundation is literally at the point where makeup crosses with skincare. This award winning pressed powder has specifically been developed to help improve the skins’ appearance over time – *In just 8 weeks, 89% of users saw an improvement in skin tone, in just 4 weeks 89% saw an increase in skin brilliance, and 95% saw a softer smoother skin texture.

Ok so let’s take a look at the product… I love the packaging! The compact comes in an almost futuristic style matte silver casing with the Pur logo in relief, it’s reassuringly weighty and looks to be high quality.

This powder really is fantastic for a medium coverage, flawless look. But let me start from the beginning – my skin pretty much has two main problems, one being it can be fairly dry, so I have to moisturise like theres no tomorrow, and the other being enlarged pores on my nose and around the centre of my face, which I really hate.

I applied the foundation with Pur Minerals’ own  (£13) which is specifically made for use with this product. I found that there was quite a lot of kick up from the compact, but the brush did a good job of picking up the powder, and I buffed it into my skin. I was left with a lovely medium coverage, flawless finish. I was quite surprised with just how even and bright my complexion looked!

Though I think this foundation really is something special, I wouldn’t actually recommend it if you have really dry skin. After inspecting my face in my new super magnifying mirror I noticed the powder did seem to pick out the few small dry areas I have. I should add that this wasn’t noticeable without looking really close up! I will say though, this is fantastic for covering pores and giving a super even look to the complexion – if you have normal or oily skin I’d highly recommend you try this foundation.

Pür Minerals is available exclusively from

I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any Pur Minerals products before? I hope you enjoyed my review xxx

January Beauty Favourites

Posted on February 6, 2015

Hi Guys!

I’ve only just released I haven’t written a monthly favourites post since last September – oops! Anyway I’m back on the wagon now, and there have just been so may amazing products I’ve been using lately, it’s been hard to cut it down! I’ve managed to get my list down to a reasonable length now, so here are the products I’ve been loving in January –

MAC Lip Pencil in Soar. Ok so I’m a bit late to the bandwagon with the whole Kylie Jenner nude lip thing, but I am a big fan of a nude lip so thought I’d snap this up when I saw it finally available on MAC’s site, and I have to say I love it! The colour is the perfect my lips but better shade and I have to say I’m keen to grab Whirl when that comes back in stock now too.

NARS Audacious Lipstick in Anita. I bought this last year when the Audacious lippies were first released, and it’s the perfect partner to my Soar lip pencil. Giving beautiful creamy colour with full opacity, this has been my go to lip product since the beginning of the year.

Bare Minerals Mineral Veil Loose Powder. This is a product that I actually use all the time, but kind of automatically without realising if that makes sense! Mineral Veil is a fantastic setting powder without being heavy or cakey, it sets my foundation giving a demi-matte finish with a super lightweight feel.

Elie Saab Resort Collection Fragrance. This fragrance is simply beautiful and I haven’t been able to put it down since it arrived. Resort Collection instantly whisks you away on a luxurious holiday, with sunshine, cocktails, sailing boats (you know the type where people lounge around drinking champers) and summer nights. It’s the perfect fragrance to brighten your mood in this dreary weather and I really can’t recommend it enough.

Bourjois Mega Eyeliner Pen. This is without a doubt one of the best pen style eyeliners I’ve ever used. The Mega Eyeliner has a slanted nib – just like a calligraphy pen – which makes it super easy to draw fine or thicker lines. The product itself is also the deepest most opaque black, and it lasts all day. I would recommend this to any eyeliner fan.

Goldfaden MD Fleuressence Cell Oil. I must admit I’ve only recently started trying the Fleuressence Cell Oil, but I have to say I’m completely in love already. This miracle oil encompasses 100% pure active botanicals, fruit extracts and natural oil to deliver powerful vitamins and nutrients deep into the skin, resulting in replenished hydration, improved skin colour and tone and it boosts radiance. I’ve only used this a few times but my skin already feels brighter, plumper and amazingly nourished. Full review to follow!

Stila In The Light Palette. I’m pretty sure this has been in one of my previous favourites posts. This palette is just so beautiful and versatile, I’ve found myself constantly going back to it. The shades are all so easy to wear, they have amazing colour payoff and stay put all day.

Milani Baked Blusher in Luminoso. I’ve only just discovered Milani products, and I’m so glad I did. Their baked eyeshadow in Luminoso is such a beautiful peachy coral shade that gives a lovely sheen to the skin and brightens the complexion. It’s the perfect spring shade!

Nuxe Reve De Miel. This lip balm has instantly jumped to the top of my favourites list. It works amazingly well to soften and moisturise even the driest lips, i.e mine, and it’s lived in my handbag ever since it arrived. This is a must have if you suffer from super dry lips like I do. (FYI I googles it and Reve De Miel means ‘Honey Dream’)

Well there we have it for January’s favourites, I’m going to try my best not to forget to do February’s! I hope you enjoyed my post, and I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products? xxx

BareMinerals NEW BareSkin Foundation & Blogger Event!

Posted on September 1, 2014

Hi Guys!

Well I have been a busy bee this last week! If you saw yesterday’s post you’ll know I was at The White Company’s event on Wednesday, then on Thursday evening I was invited to the BareMinerals bloggers event at Debenhams in Norwich! How exciting! The BareMinerals team wanted to show us and tell us al about their brand new BareSkin Liquid Foundation! If you know the brand, you’ll know BareMinerals are famous for their powder mineral foundations, so this is their very first liquid foundation, and a really exciting new launch!

BareSkin is BareMinerals first ever liquid foundation, with a gorgeous ultra thin silky texture, it has a coconut derived base with jojoba coated mineral pigments and lilac plant stem cells, oh and there’s some good old vitamin c in there too!

As with the whole concept of BareMinerals, the point of the new BareSkin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation is that it doesn’t contain anything synthetic or bad for your skin, BareMinerals have come up with a liquid foundation that acts like skincare, which I think is a fabulous idea!

As well as the makeup, there were some gorgeous chocolate brownies and smoothies provided by Babychinos, a local vendor based in Norwich. BareMinerals chose this company specifically as all their products are made from scratch out of the highest quality ingredients and locally sourced products – which reflects BareMinerals company ethos.

Ok so ignore the darker bits around my hairline, this is the remnants of my previous foundation that was removed! We were shown how to apply the product using the new Perfecting Face Brush, adding two drops at a time to the centre reservoir of the brush then buffing into the skin. We were advised to use up to six drops in total for fuller coverage. I was really happy with the finish on my skin, it’s definitely the most lightweight foundation I’ve ever worn, and just like BareMinerals powder foundations it really felt like I wasn’t wearing any makeup – the finish really is so lightweight I can’t even tell you!

I’d definitely recommend this foundation if you like a natural, semi-matte finish, with medium coverage. The BareSkin Foundation is £26 and it can be purchased from  or direct from .

I left with a good sized sample of BareSkin foundation and an amazing goody bag! Thank you so much!

Will you be trying the new BareSkin foundation? I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx

Bare Minerals Get Started Kit in Medium | Review

Posted on July 18, 2014

Hi Guys!

Today I’ve got the awesome Bare Minerals Get Started Kit in Medium to show you! Now if you’re new to Bare Minerals I’ll tell you a bit about the brand (of you’re familiar please feel free to skip this part!)

bareMinerals products are based on, you guessed it, minerals. Minerals provide the basis for all their products, and offer a whole range of benefits to the user. Every mineral in our proprietary formulations is carefully selected to deliver proven results. bareMinerals Makeup utilizes naturally derived minerals to give you exceptional long-lasting coverage, breathable lightweight wear, rich pigmentation with creamy blendability, and broad-spectrum UVA/UVB sun protection. Best of all, we created all of our mineral formulas to work together in harmony to improve your complexion instantly and over time, day and night.

The Get Started Kit includes everything you need for complexion perfection –

  • bareMinerals Original SPF 15 Foundation in Medium C25 and Medium Beige N20, size: 2g each
  • Original Mineral Veil finishing powder, size: 2g
  • Prime Time Foundation Primer, size: 15ml
  • Warmth All-Over Face Color, size: 1.5g
  • Full Flawless Face Brush
  • Flawless Application Face Brush
  • Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush
  • Get Started Kit guide: shows you how to Swirl, Tap, Buff® your way back to the skin you were born with.

So basically this kit includes everything you need for a gorgeous flawless look! And it really couldn’t be easier to use…

Firstly you massage the primer into your skin, allow this to set then apply the foundation. You’re given two brushes for different finishes; the Full Flawless Face Brush gives medium to full coverage, and the Flawless Application Face Brush gives light to medium coverage as it has softer bristles. Buff the foundation into the skin as required then apply the Warmth All-Over Face Colour where you would usually highlight, then finish off with the Mineral Veil Finishing Powder – this is a translucent powder that gives a soft focus finish to your look.

I love that you have everything in this kit that you need to get a fresh looking, flawless base. Also I think it’s great that they’ve included two foundation colours so you can mix and match. My preconceptions of bareMinerals were that the products would completely dry out my already dry skin – I tend to stay away from powders for this reason. But I couldn’t be more wrong! This stuff is like magic! It doesn’t dry the skin at all (one of the reasons being there is no talc in the products) and the fact that you only need tiniest amount of foundation to get full coverage just amazes me!

I’d highly recommend this kit as being perfect for your summer foundation routine. My Dior Hydralife BB cream is fantastic but it can feel heavy which is not really what you want as the weather heats up! I just need a flawless look without feeling caked in makeup! These bareMinerals products feel so light, you don’t even feel like your wearing a foundation at all!

It’s also worth mentioning this kit includes products worth an individual total of £119, but has a RRP of just £50, oh and it only actually costs £39 from Chemist Direct, what a bargain!

I’d love to hear what you think, and if you’ve tried bareMinerals before?
