The Weekly Top 5 #11

Hi Guys!

You’ve probably noticed I’ve had a few weeks off from my weekly Sunday posts, well now I’m back in the game and determined to post my weekly roundup EVERY SUNDAY. Yep I’m determined. Ok so this week I’ve been pretty busy – I’ve been settling into my new job, which is going really well, and I’ve also been having lots of fun in the sun with Fred, playing in his new massive paddling pool at my parents house!

I’ve also been attempting to sort out my ridiculous makeup and skincare stash – I have a slight hoarding problem but I NEED to get over it and throw away, give away and sell a load of stuff. My office is being taken over by products, so I’ve started sorting through everything, and I’m aiming to be finished by the end of the week. I’ll hopefully be doing a blog sale with some of the items I no longer want, so keep an eye out for this next week!

And lastly, my massive £700 giveaway has also just ended, and the winner has just been emailed – thanks so much to everyone that entered! If you missed out this time though don’t worry, I have another giveaway that’s just gone live where you can win a 12 month Glossybox subscription!

This week’s favourites –

As we’ve been out in the sun a lot lately, I’m always careful to use sunscreen. I’m really quite pale, and Fred is even fairer than me, so I’ve been making sure we’re both creamed up! I’ve started using La Roche Posay Anthelios XL SPF 50 Comfort Cream (£15.50) this week and it really is a great product. I love that this cream has a super high SPF of 50, as well as being specially formulated for sensitive and sun intolerant skins. It’s easy to apply, moisturising, and non greasy. This cream ticks all the boxes for me!

La Roche Posay also has a really sweet video on Youtube, reminding you to help check your loved ones beauty spots and moles –

Another favourite product from this week has been the Silk Oil of Morocco Fibre Brow Enhancer (£19.99) Now I must admit, as much as I love makeup, from buying it to applying it, I’ve always been a bit lacking in the brow skills department. I usually just give them a quick once over with a brow pencil – and they never look particularly amazing. I just took it that brows wern’t my thing! Anyway, the Fibre Brow Enhancer recently arrived in the post and it’s been a lifesaver! It’s basically super tiny fibres that you brush onto your brows to make them look fuller and thicker. I have really fine and sparse brows so this is definitely the product for me. You literally just apply directly to your brows with the want provided, it takes no time at all, and the product ‘sets’ in 60 seconds too which is handy, and can be removed easily with warm water.

I’ve also been using the  (£9.95) this week. This moisturiser is composed of a combination of valuable mineral extracts – from pearls, silk and crystals along with clinically proven plant substances. This is a specially formulated anti-ageing product that protects from dry skin, loss of elasticity, the forming of wrinkles, age related redness, and fatigued eyes. Now I’m the wrong side of 30, I’m up for trying any product that promises to help with the signs of ageing! This Bio Clinica cream contains collagen, aloe vera, allantoines, bisabolol, soy and sesame oil, which can contribute to tightening and firming the skin. I haven’t been using this product very long at all, but I already feel that my complexion is looking brighter!

My drink of choice this week appears to have been Lucozade Pink Lemonade, I have no idea why but I can’t get enough of it at the moment! 🙂

And lastly, my latest Netflix obsession has been Rupaul’s Drag Race! I remember watching one of the first seasons a long time ago, so when I saw this pop up on my recommended list I had to take a look. The queens were just fabulous, as expected, and I just love everything about this show – the divas, the dramas, the ridiculous and amazing makeup and outfits, and especially when when they have to ‘Lip synch… for your life’. If you haven’t seen this series yet you need to check it out!

Other things worth mentioning –

I’ve just had three Colourpop Lippie Stix arrive! YAY! If you haven’t heard of Colourpop they’re a cheap as chips US brand that have been taking the beauty word by storm, with their massive range of affordable products. Just take a look on Youtube and you’ll see what I mean. Colourpop currently only ship to the US though, so I bought these second hand from my  Facebook group and I’m so excited! Keep your eye out for a review coming up very shortly.

And lastly I wanted to include a mention of one of Hayley LBQ’s latest posts – the . Hayley has recognised there really is a massive collective of bloggers aged 30 and over, but blogging is still seen as a youngsters game. She wants to let the world know that WE ARE HERE! We have a voice, and we’re not afraid to tell you what we like and what we don’t like. Take a look at her post for all the details 🙂

I hope you’re having a great weekend and that you enjoyed my post xxx

Hi Guys!

Happy Monday! Well this last week has been pretty awesome! It was Freddy’s 4th and my 31st birthday on Friday (check out my awesome birthday giveaway here where you can win over £700 of prizes!) I saw my lovely chum  on my birthday morning for cake and fun and spent the afternoon playing with Fred and putting together his new Lego. He’s obsessed with Lego at the moment! He had a birthday party on Saturday at the local soft play centre which was just crazy, there were zillions of kids running around, and he had the best time! I then went out with my friends on Saturday night for tapas in Norwich and a few cocktails, and spent yesterday recovering!

At this point I have a confession. This post was supposed to be published yesterday, and for the last nine weeks I’ve been rather pleased with myself for sticking to my regular Sunday posting schedule but yesterday I basically layed on the sofa and binge watched OITNB. This is Orange is the New Black in case you’re not down with the lingo. The latest series was released on Netflix on Friday and I promised myself I’d pace myself and only watch one of two episodes a day, but I completely binged yesterday and I’m now up to episode 9 – oops!

So anyway, here are the things I’ve been loving last week!

(£1.60) – I started the Slim Fast 3.2.1 diet last week and I’m pretty impressed with myself so far for sticking to it – apart from my birthday treats but that doesn’t count right!? It definitely helps that I love their products, and the Vanilla and Strawberry shakes are definitely my favourites out of their range. I’ve been having these as meal replacements throughout the week and I really recommend them just because they’re so tasty!

Tom Ford Black Orchid EDP (from £43.99 for 30ml) – This is one of my favourite ever perfumes but it’s kind of been unloved and pushed to the back of the shelf in favour of lighter more summery fragrances lately. I brought it out again last week and reminded myself how much I love it, this scent also brings back some great memories for me! Unfortunately I’ve just ran out too, so I’ll need to purchase a new bottle very soon!

OITNB – see above 🙂

(£25.50) – Fred bought me this for my birthday (clever boy!) I haven’t had any new makeup from Benefit for such a long time so I’m really excited to try this set out. It contains four mini products including High Beam which is one of my favourite ever highlighters.

(£5.50) – My stupid lips have been really dry – again. I’ve been applying this G&T balm on a daily basis and found it to be excellent at moisturising my lips. It doesn’t smell that much like G&T though unfortunately but it’s definitely a great little lip balm that does the job!

I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx

The Weekly Top 5 #9 (Plus Exciting News!)

Hi Guys!

It’s been a pretty crazy week for me, I was going to save this for a separate post but there’s no time like the present hey! Basically I was made redundant, which was pretty weird as I’d been at my job for nearly seven years, but it isn’t actually a bad thing because now I can blog full time! I also freelance in blogger outreach and social media management, so hopefully I’ll be able to do more of that too. It’s pretty scary being 100% self employed (rather than self employed and employed at the same time as I was before) but I think this is the push I needed to take things to the next level with my blog. I’m looking forward to working harder and dedicating more time to writing. Exciting times!! So basically this week I’ve been chilling out and having a much needed rest, tidying the house and getting used to my new found freedom!

I’ve been making good use of my , getting posts planned and scheduled in, making notes of things I need to remember and generally getting myself up to date with things. If you’re thinking about buying a blog planner you should definitely check this site out, I love that you can completely customise your planner so it suits your needs, as well as choosing your front cover, and they also come in a variety of sizes to suit everyone.

The sun has most definitely had his hat on this week, I’ve been having a great time playing with Fred and making the most of the weather. My  (£10.00) have been on my face all week, I LOVE these sunnies! You can’t see from the picture but they have asweome coloured mirror shine lenses.

I flirt constantly with coloured eyeliner, but found myself recently in a CBA mood and not wearing any makeup at all, I’ve been basically in a complete funk, but now (maybe because I’m ‘free’?) I’ve been feeling pretty awesome and starting busting out my trusty  (£4.99) This is the most amazing electric blue eyeliner – everyone should own one.

This week I’ve found myself wearing a rather interesting scent – Eau Des Minimes Cologne (£19.00) This unisex scent really matches the current weather, it includes fresh sparkling citrus notes of lemon, blood orange and grapefruit, as well as seven plants chosen for their beneficial properties. This fragrance gives a feeling of freshness and wellbeing, boosting your mood and energising the skin.

And lastly I had a surprise package arrive from Neve Cosmetics, their brand new  (£TBC) This sweet little twist up balm hydrates while intensifying the colour of the lips with a pretty and easy to wear strawberry tint. Something about the packaging and the light strawberry scent reminds me of children’s makeup, you know the lip and nail ‘tints’ for little ones? This may not be everyone’s cup of tea but I love the burst of nostalgia! This will be available from June 10th.

I’d love to hear what you’ve been up to this week? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Hi Guys!

I hope you’re having a great weekend? You may have noticed I’ve been a bit quiet for the last couple of days, we’ll I’ve had two days off – and by ‘off’ I mean pretty much no social media and no blogging. It’s been rather nice not being glued to the laptop actually, but now I have a zillion emails to catch up with and just as many blog posts to plan – that’ll teach me for having a break hey! We went to a friends wedding on Friday and stayed over, then had to come home in the morning for a quick freshen up and to drop Freddy off with his grandparents before zipping off to Radio One’s One Big Weekend yesterday. Both days were fantastic and I’m officially knackered and coming down with a nasty cold now, meh! Here are the things I’ve been loving this week –

Radio One’s Big Weekend – Of course! I’d been looking forward to this ever since it was first announced, and when I managed to get hold of a pair of Saturday tickets I was over the moon! Unfortunately we got stuck in traffic and missed the first couple of acts, one being Snoop Dogg who I’m told was amazing. I also heard on the grapevine that he was a complete diva with his demands at the hotel he was staying at in Norwich, how funny! Anyway the weather was perfect – warm but not too hot and I was so excited to finally see two of my favourite bands, Years and Years and Rudimental. We really had the best day and even though I wasn’t drinking I actually feel like I’m hung over today because I’m so tired and full of cold!

Victor & Rolf Bon Bon Fragrance – I bought this in a blog sale about a month or so ago and I’ve just got round to using it. Bon Bon has the sweetest prettiest scent, it’s very girly with top notes of mandarin, orange and peach, heart notes of caramel, jasmine and orange blossom, and base notes of cedarwood, guaiac wood, sandalwood and amber. It’s the perfect summer evening fragrance.

(£6.00) – Admittedly I’m not usually one for hand cream, as I don’t suffer with dry hands or have any other hand issues that might need cream, but I have found myself reaching for this Hand & Nail Balm this week just because it smells beautiful and makes my hands feel soft and supple and just nice! This balm contains shea butter, aloe vera and fig extract, to nourish and protect dry hands, whilst offering long lasting hydration and a mattifying finish on the skin.

(£149) – I’ve only just started using the Luna For All Skin Types so I won’t go into too much detail as I’ll be writing up a full review shortly. The Foreo Luna is a soft silicone brush that deeply cleanses skin whilst reducing signs of ageing, it uses T-Sonic technology to thoroughly cleanse by channelling sonic pulsations across the skin’s surface to unblock pores and remove impurities. It’s completely water proof, easy to clean, and rechargeable. So far I’m really impressed with this product but keep you eye out for my full review coming soon.

(£14.00) – I’m instantly attracted to any product that promises to make my complexion ‘glow’ be more ‘radiant’ or more ‘healthy’ – seriously if I see any of these buzz words on a product I’ll want to try it!! The Body Shop’s Instant Glow Enhancer is basically a tinted moisturiser in their Vitamin C group of products. It’s perfect for giving a hint of glow to the complexion – I have very fair skin and it just makes me look a bit healthier and more alive! It’s also a great multi tasker that can be used on it’s own for a natural look or under foundation as a primer.

I’d love to hear what you’ve been loving this week? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Hi Guys!

Happy Sunday! Today I’m mostly to be found tidying, cleaning and planning blog posts for the next few weeks. I’ve gotten pretty behind this week due to not being very well, I’m starting to feel better now though so onwards and upwards! This week I’ve started trying out some  (from £17.00) including a shampoo, conditioner and treatment. These products are formulated with AnaGain, an Organic Pea Sprout extract that is rich in restorative proteins, starch and fibres. These rebalancing phytonutrients combined with caffeine agents stimulate blood circulation to help encourage the growth of hair at the root. The advanced formulation helps strengthen, add volume, moisturise and protect, making hair more resistant to everyday damage. These products are supped to give denser, thicker, fuller hair in 3 months, so fingers crossed they’ll work. I’ll have a full review done in three months time!

I’ve also found myself reaching for my  (£18.00) this week. I can’t get enough of Clarins’ products at the moment but this has definitely got the most use since it arrived. I frequently suffer with dry lips so this tinted balm has been fantastic to help heal as well as giving a tint of colour.

I also may have treated myself to some gorgeous  from Schuh, as I managed to ruin my previous favourite shoes a few weeks ago in the boggy mud at Redgrave Fen. I bought those ones a couple of years ago so I was pretty upset that they’re not available any more. Then when browsing the Schuh site I noticed the shoes are still on sale, but with a different pattern. Cue new summer shoes, yay!

I also ordered a few vest tops (which I pretty much live in) as well as lightweight summer cardigans and accessories from H&M. I actually love H&M for jewellery and I picked up these unsupposing  with my order. I remember wearing these in the early 90’s but apart from taking me back to my youth, I’ve found myself constantly twisting and knotting and playing with them. I think this helps relieve my anxiety.

I’m still watching Skins on Netflix (and I’m up to season 4) but I’ve also been browsing Youtube for new music and came across . This girl really is something special, her music and videos are both complex and mesmerising. If you’ve heard her music you’ll know what I mean when I say it’s very ‘marmite’ – you’ll either love it or you’ll just not get it. Try watching and listening to Two Weeks, Papi Pacify and How’s That with headphones on. Let me know what you think.

I also thought I’d include an overview of my posts from the last week in case you missed anything…

Hi Guys!

I hope you’re having a great weekend? I went out for a very rare night on the town last night, and ended up sleeping in all morning, oops! I had the best time though, and it does make me wonder how I used to do it every weekend when I was younger, I’m knackered today! I really needed it as haven’t had the best week. My anxiety has flared up again, seemingly out of nowhere and I’ve been feeling pretty rotten, so last night was just what I needed to help me feel like me again! I also decided to cut my hair off before I went out, as you do – I’ll have a post on that later in the week! So here are the things I’ve been loving this week…

(£85) I’ve been really really good and haven’t bought any beauty products for a while now, ok except for a couple of bits from MAC’s Wash and Dry collection, but apart from that, I really have been restrained. I then happened to notice that Sunday Riley’s Luna Night Oil was on pre-order at Space NK, now this really has been top of my wish list ever since I read Caroline Hirons rave review, so I decided to treat myself! If you haven’t heard of it, this oil is described as ‘A next-generation retinoid oil to reduce pore size, improve appearance of damaged skin and help fight wrinkles.’ It sounds AMAZING – I’ve only just started using it and I’m loving it so far, I’ll save the details for my full review which will be up in the next 2-3 weeks.

La Montana Candle in First Light (£35) This beautiful collection of candles are inspired by the founders’ new life in a Spanish mountain village – so if you’re a fan of the Mediterranean, you’ll be sure to like these scents. The First Light candle is described as ‘A unique, intoxicating blend of wild, aromatic mountain herbs: fennel, bergamot, rosemary, mountain pepper, and rockrose.’ This is La Montaña’s signature fragrance, representing the scent of their new mountain home. This candle has a beautiful scent that’s comforting yet fresh, I’ve been burning it all week and my house smells divine.

Skins. My latest Netflix obsession. I watched Skins when it originally aired on TV in 2007, and I guess I kind of forgot about it till I noticed it last weekend when it popped up on my Netflix recommendations. I’ve literally been watching it all week, it’s really additive! If you haven’t seen Skins, it’s basically a teen drama with lots of drugs and sex, and a good helping of comedy. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a new series to get stuck into!

(£4.00) These sweet little eye pads arrived only yesterday morning, and I’ve already used two sets! The box contains 10 sets of pads – which are printed to look like cucumber slices, and they’re infused with cucumber extract and aloe vera to soothe and cool the eye area. I popped mine in the fridge before using them so they felt amazingly cool and comforting on my troublesome puffy eyes. After 2-5 minutes you’re then left with a brighter and rejuvenated eye area!

ESPA Naturally Radiant Tinted Moisturiser (£32) I was actually surprised with now much I loved this product. I’m usually a medium to full coverage kinda gal, so tinted moisturisers are not something I would automatically reach for. I was sent a sample to try though, and even though you don’t get much coverage – as expected, this tinted moisturiser leaves your skin with a really healthy looking glow. I actually love it! If you’re after coverage then this product won’t be for you, but if you have decent skin and you’re just looking to even out your complexion and add radiance, this is definitely worth trying. I have the two lightest shades Nude and Blush, which both worked fantastically well on my fair skin tone.

I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx

The Weekly Top 5 #4

the weekly top 5 no 4_edited-1

Hi Guys!

It’s week 4 already of my weekly favourites, and this week I’ve ben loving a whole range of skincare and body products. Also it was our 10 year anniversary on Tuesday – that’s 10 years since I met the other half, and we’ve only been married 2 years this September. As you get shorter sentences for murder these days we thought this was definitely something worth celebrating, so he took me away for a surprise evening on Friday night. We went to a gorgeous hotel, had some proper fancy food and stayed in a lovely room – with a whirlpool bath! It was amazing! Oh and the bath had lights in it too, so the bubbles glowed different colours! I mean what more could a girl possibly need? Unfortunately our room was above a rowdy bar, so we didn’t have a chance of sleeping until everyone left which was quite a shame as it was a fantastic stay otherwise. Anyway, let’s get on to this week’s favourites!

Living Nature Radiance Night Oil (£48.00) I’m a big fan of facial oils, I love how they make your skin super soft and supple and they just feel like they’re doing something good to your skin. I’ve just started trying out Living Nature’s Radiance Night Oil and it’s definitely a winner in my books. This oil aims to boost your skin’s overnight rejuvenation and renewal process, utilising the finest Rose Oil to stimulate your skin’s own collagen production, Rosehip Oil to aid cell regeneration and repair, Calendula to soothe and calm, Carrot Oil to revitalise and tone, Jojoba Oil to nourish, and Frankincense Oil to repair dry skin and heal blemishes. For the last week or so I’ve been using this before bed and I’ve been waking up with super soft skin every morning!

Weleda Wild Rose Deodorant (£12.95) On the subject of roses, Weleda’s wild Rose Deoderant recently landed on my doorstep, and after using their Wild Rose Body Oil I knew I was going to love this product. This deodorant smells beautiful, it’s also free from aluminium salts, dries within seconds and does’t leave any stickiness or marks. It contains Wild Rose Leaf extract, known for it’s refreshing and mildly astringent properties, and can also be used on the feet to refresh and revitalise should you wish! I’ve definitely been smelling sweet this week! 😀

(£14.99 for 15g) I actually had a Powermud sample a long time ago but gave it to a friend who was desperate to try it – and she loved it! Now I have another one, I can definitely see what all the fuss is about. The Powermud face mask has a mud-to-oil formula to deeply and gently cleanse skin. It removes dead cells, dirt, impurities and make-up build up from pores – which is exactly what I need right now. It’s made with Claytox™, a four-clay blend technology to detoxify and purify the skin, OILIXER™which contains pine oil and frankincense oil to nourish skin, and PUREIFIER™ which conditions with its moisturising ingredients. My 15g sample tube will last for  a handful of uses depending how sparingly you apply the product, I’ve only used this once so far and was thrilled with the result. My skin was left feeling super clean, fresh and thoroughly cleansed.

(£4.99) I love nothing more than trying out new bath and body products, so my bathroom always looks a bit like I’ve raided Boots. My latest discovery is Palmer’s new Rapid Moisture Spray – this is a lightweight, non-greasy and fast-absorbing spray made with pure Cocoa Butter, Coconut Rich Oil and Vitamin E to leave you with smooth and supple skin that lasts up to 24 hours. A little goes a long way with this product, it smells like gorgeous and I love that it absorbs quickly into the skin so you can get dressed straight away.

ARK Anti-Ageing Skin Protector Primer (£36.00) Primers are gradually becoming one of my makeup obsessions (they’ll never beat lipsticks though!) and I’ve been trying out ARK’s Skin Protecting Primer this week. This is a base with added benefits; described as your skin-perfecting daily defence, it includes broad spectrum defence against UVA and UVB rays to prevent sun damage and premature ageing, and ARK’s Advanced Active Antioxidant system with Vitamin E, Shea Butter, and extracts of Jojoba for daily defence against ageing. This primer is nothing like others I’ve previously tried, firstly it looks more like a white moisturiser, but with a thinner texture, and it doesn’t have the silicone feel that many primers have. I’m really impressed with the result though, it feels super light on the skin, and definitely helped my makeup stay put all day.

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx
