Simply Beautiful Collection Skincare First Impressions

Posted on July 4, 2018

Something I want to do more on TSNC moving forward, is try out, test, review and and talk about smaller and lesser known brands. It think it’s now harder than ever for smaller, and also newer brands to get noticed in such a saturated market – and as consumers we know it’s always tempting to experience something new when it comes to beauty, so I hope you’re as excited as I am about discovering some new awesome cosmetics and skincare in the coming months!

So on this note, I was very excited to recently receive a package from a brand I’d never heard of before – SBC Gels. Simply Beautiful Collection (SBC) is a British beauty brand, and funnily enough they’re actually based just up the road from me, at Needham Market in Suffolk, yay for local brands! 😀

They were founded in 1988, and offer fuss-free, practical, effective, and affordable products, including skincare gels, moisturisers, serums, polishes, and cleansers, as well as much more. The brand is eco-friendly and cruelty-free, and use only the finest quality naturally derived ingredients to create natural skincare and body care that they promise really works.

SBC Kindly sent over a couple of their latest products from the ‘Collagen’ range, including their best-selling cleanser, the Collagen 3-in-1 Cleanser along with a Skin Shammy to use with it. Also, one of their latest launches, the Collagen Body Polish.

Firstly, the Collagen 3-in-1 Cleanser – this is described as an effective triple-action facial cleanser that removes all traces of make-up, dirt, oil and impurities, while mildly exfoliating the skin for a softer, smoother and brighter complexion. This is recommended for mature, dull and dry skin types.

So first impressions – this is a decent 250ml sized bottle, which I think is really reasonable for £26.00. The cleanser itself is a luxuriously thick cream, and I can just tell by the texture that my dry skin is going to love it! It also has a lovely light scent – I can be quite put off by overly scented products but this is spot on, just light and floral and fresh.

I’ve used this cleanser a few times now and it really does live up to its claims. I just realised I forgot to include the shammy in my pictures, I must have left it in the bathroom! I used the shammy along with the cleanser as instructed – you just massage one or two pumps on to dry skin, over the eyes, face and neck, then gently wipe off with the shammy and warm water. It left my face completely cleansed, soft and supple.

I also have the Collagen Body Polish – this is a sumptuous body polish, rich in Collagen and Vitamin E to revitalise tired skin. The texture is thick, yet light, and includes super fine pumice beads to gently buff away dead skin cells, promising to leave your skin feeling silky-soft and nourished, with long lasting moisture.

Again I’ve also used this a few times now, and it really is fantastic! If your skin’s on the sensitive side like mine is, then any product that’s ‘exfoliating’ can be a bit of a minefield. The pumice beads in the Collagen Body Polish are so-so tiny though, that they’re completely non-abrasive, yet give a decent level of light exfoliation that leaves skin feeling super soft and silky. The Collagen Body Polish also has the same light, fresh scent as the Cleanser, so I’m a happy bunny all round!

If you have sensitive skin like I do, and you’re interested in eco-friendly, cruelty free skincare, as well as supporting smaller, local brands, I highly recommend you check out the fantastic range of products that SBC offer!

The above products are available to purchase now at .

The Luxury Mother’s Day Gift Guide

Posted on March 7, 2018

Hi Guys!

How is it nearly Mother’s Day!? Im pretty sure it was only just Christmas! I’m looking forward to a day window shopping in Norwich on Saturday, and hopefully being served breakfast in bed and generally just getting spoiled rotten on Sunday! If you’re thinking of spoiling Mum this year and fancy going a bit extra, I have a fab selection of luxury gift ideas for you today – I hope you enjoy!

Firstly, I have this beautiful  – designed to represent an eternal bond between two people, this delicate silver necklace features a dainty white zirconia heart intertwined into a ring, which is engraved with the words ‘Together Forever’. This adorable necklace would make the perfect Mother’s Day gift! The necklace box also sits here on a lovely peach . This quirky angular tray comes in a selection of shades and has a modern matte finish. It’s just the perfect size for displaying fragrances and beauty treats on your dressing table 🙂

On to fragrance now, and I have a few gorgeous niche and high end scents to share –  is a captivating woody citrus fragrance, opening with top notes of fresh and sparkling bergamot and mandarin, leading to a heart of sweet orange flower and neroli, and a sensual, warming base of musk and white wood.

I also have the beautiful  – this is a stunning contemporary chypre fragrance, taking inspiration from a young woman deciding what she will wear before her evening out in Paris. The bottle is of course gorgeous, with it’s fun and playful pompom and engraved medal, and the scent also reflects these boudoir elements – with fresh top notes, silky iris at the heart, and an addictive sweet base, Tenue de Sioree leaves a wonderfully soft gourmand kiss on the skin.

is also one to watch our for. This is the second fragrance I’ve tried from Jeroboam, and it’s just as beautiful as the first! Ambra, meaning ‘amber’ in Esperanto, is modern, daring and sensual. The scent opens with top notes of bergamot, geranium and incense that give way to a heart of Peru balsam and patchouli, and base notes of vetiver, vanilla, tonka bean and enigmatic musks provide a sensual dry down to this luxurious fragrance.

And – this is probably my favourite scent so far. Gelsomini di Capri evokes the magical feeling of a sun-drenched island sanctuary blooming with jasmine and fragrant bouquets that softly wave in the fresh breeze. Bergamot, lemon and yellow mandarin open the fragrance, softening into a sensual floral heart of jasmine grandiflorum absolute that rests on an opulent base of Italian ginestra and orange blossom, amber, and cashmere wood.

And I also have – on initial spritz I thought this scent might be a bit too ‘grown up’ for me, but I have to say, it does have the most beautiful dry down that lasts for hours. Rose Tubereuse would be perfect for fans of intense, floral scents, with distinct notes of tuberose and sandalwood.

  • Top Notes: Bergamot, Rhubarb, Mandarin, Clove and Guava.
  • Herat Notes: Bulgarian Rose, Tuberose, Geranium, Jasmine and Ylang Ylang.
  • Base Notes: Vanilla, Sandalwood, Tonka Bean, Patchouli, Musk and Benzoin.

On to skincare now – the  would make a wonderful Mother’s Day gift! The set contains three mini Premier Cru products, including The Eye Cream 15ml, which tackles signs of ageing, including dark circles and puffiness, whilst brightening and smoothing the eye area. The Precious Oil 10ml, which melts into the skin leaving it instantly smoothed, nourished and brightened. And The Cream 15ml, which hydrates the skin, whilst restoring density and smoothing wrinkles, to reveal a firmer, more radiant complexion.

Or how about the brand new ? Formulated with Caudalie’s patented Vinergy® complex, this luxurious, gel-like serum promises to intensely revitalise the skin to correct the signs of ageing. The highly concentrated formula boosts the effectiveness of your current anti-ageing cream to reveal skin that appears visibly younger, more radiant and revitalised.

Moving on to something a little different, how about this beautiful ? Lola Design offer a wide range of animal prints, and the White Tailed Stag print is from the Wildlife Botanical collection, which also includes bees, humming birds, owls, and many more fabulous creatures – all of which feature beautiful floral details, and are available as stand-alone prints or pre-mounted and framed to your specification.

I also have this striking  This design was influenced by the romantic yet heart breaking story of Dara Maar, one of the many muses and lovers of Picasso. Widely recognised as his most famous muse, Dora was the subject of many cruel jokes played on her by Picasso and they indulged in a turbulent relationship coloured by art, passion & tension.

Back to skincare now, I have the fab  which contains a selection of products from the By Terry Baume de Rose collection, all housed in a pink faux leather pouch. Included you’ll find a Face Cream 30g, Hand Cream 30g, Body Cream 50g and a Lip Care 0.2ml. I’ve displayed the products here in a beautiful  – the aluminium on the bowl has been shaped by hand to create a rustic, imperfect edge and finished with a distressed metallic sheen and marble look enamel interior. This would make a fantastic snack bowl!

If Mum is a fan of luxury body products,  could make the perfect gift. It’s enriched with the finest grade argan oil and shea butter, combining these nourishing ingredients with a luxury oud fragrance. Carved Oud is a heavenly blend of South Indian oud, with cedarwood, patchouli and Haitian vetiver, rounded off with a smooth musk at the base.

I also have a couple of brand new skincare products from Filorga. The  is an ultra-lifting cream formulated with active ingredients derived from the latest research into biotechnology, for a complete anti-ageing effect. Included in a cream for the first time, Plasmatic Lifting Factors® visibly tighten the features, plump the skin and sculpt the face. And the  is an ultra-lifting serum promising a radical anti-ageing effect. The formula includes a duo of ultra-tightening active agents, combined with a roll-on applicator to stimulate the skin tissue, to lift and smooth the complexion.

Or how about the  which includes a generous 100ml body lotion and 50ml L’Eau d’Issey fragrance. This timeless yet modern fragrance is a beautiful fresh floral, that’s noticeably aquatic and woody, with notes of lilies and soft freesia combined with sensual precious woods at the base.

And lastly, I have the stunning . L’Occitane’s latest fragrance, Terre de Lumiere L’Eau is a scent inspired by blooming flowers in the dawn light in Provence. Opening with notes of bergamot and pink pepper reminiscent of the fresh air of dawn. Then, just as the sun warms the earth, floral notes blossom revealing voluptuous accords of white musk and tonka bean. This luxury gift set includes a generously sized 90ml Eau de Toilette, Gentle Shower Gel, Beautifying Body Lotion, Radiant Balm and Perfumed Soap, all housed in a L’Occitane signature gift box.

Beauty: Liz Earle Skincare on Trial

Posted on July 10, 2017

Hi Guys!

I’ve been trying out a few products from Liz Earle over the last couple of weeks, and wanted to give you the low down today and let you know how I’ve been getting on with them. My skin is pretty dry and can often be sensitive, which means I have to be a bit careful when it comes to trying out new skincare products – if you have sensitive skin you’ll know what I mean! I’ve been trying out a new limited edition Cleanse & Polish, a Moisturiser for sensitive skin, and a few other skincare products. Read on to find out my thoughts…

Starting with the Cleanse & Polish Grapefruit & Patchouli (£22.75 for 150ml including 2x cotton cloths) – Liz Earle’s classic Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser has been revamped into a fab limited edition for summer 2017. This new Grapefruit & Patchouli version is just the same as the original in terms of formula, but this is fragranced with an invigorating blend of zesty grapefruit and woody patchouli essential oils.

If you’re not familiar with Cleanse & Polish, this cult product is a thick, rich cream that does a fantastic job of removing dirt, grease and makeup from the skin, leaving your complexion feeling fresh and clean. It’s actually been quite a few years since I last use the original Cleanse & Polish, so I was looking forward to trying out this new scented version. Firstly, I have to say it smells heavenly! And after massaging into the skin, it really does deep cleanse and remove all traces of makeup, as well as lightly exfoliating – leaving skin feeling fresh, clear and bright.

The (£14.75) is up next. This toner has a light floral fragrance, and contains naturally active ingredients including Aloe Vera to revitalise and soften and Calendula, Chamomile, Cucumber and Vitamin E to soothe and refresh the skin. You can use it directly after the Cleanse & Polish to soothe the skin, or just spritz over both face and body and time of day to refresh and revitalize.

I’ve also been trying the  (£39.00 for 50ml) – I went with the unfragranced version for sensitive skin, which contains Cranberry, Borage and Rosehip Seed oils. I’ve been using this after the above Skin Tonic Toner, massaging into my face and neck, and I have to say my skin has been feeling fantastic!

Liz Earle have advised for optimal results to follow the specific facial massage techniques below. This should help clear toxins, reduce puffiness, boost circulation and aid lymphatic drainage:

Step 1: Apply to face with upward and outward movements using firm pressure.

Step 2: With your fingertips, lightly smooth in an outward circular direction along the cheekbones to above the eyebrows.

Step 3: Using the thumb and ring finger, gently pinch along the brow bone from the nose to the outer edge of the brow.

Step 4: Finish by gently sweeping your hands up the neck and over the décolletage.

For the body, I have the (£35.00 for 100ml) – I’m a big fan of skin oils, so this fast absorbing dry body oil sounded right up my street! The SuperSkin Dry Body Oil has been formulated with Liz Earle’s botanical blend of Cranberry, Borage and Rosehip Seed oils to visibly smooth, nourish and revitalise the skin. The oil itself if super lightweight, and I find it works well right after showering. It absorbs really quickly, leaving the skin feeling soft, supple and lightly scented.

And lastly the (from £7.50 for 50ml) – as someone that suffers daily with dry, puffy and tired eyes, I was most excited about trying this product. The Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion promises to instantly revitalise and refresh tired and puffy eyes, and it contains Witch Hazel, Aloe Vera and Cornflower to cool and soothe the delicate eye area.

I have to say I was expecting a creamy lotion, but the formula is actually very thin and wet – just like water. You simply need to apply some product to a cotton wool pad (how much you use is up to you) and sweep lightly over the eyelids – or you can also soak two pads in the product and leave on for up to 10 minutes, for a revitalising, soothing compress.

I’ve used this a few times now, and it really does feel lovely and refreshing on the eye area – I’ve also found that keeping the bottle in the fridge works wonders as the liquid feels extra cool and soothing when you apply it. If you suffer from puffy eyes like I do, this is definitely one to try.

Overall I’m really impressed with all the products I’ve been trying out – the new limited edition Cleanse & Polish is a lovely revamp of a classic product, the SuperSkin Unscented Moisturiser is a fantastic every day moisturiser for sensitive skin especially, and the EyeBright Lotion really did work wonders to relieve my tired eyes.

I’d love to hear which Liz Earle products you use and enjoy? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Heatwave! All The Beauty Products You Need Right Now…

Posted on July 7, 2017

Hi Guys!

The warm weather has finally hit the UK, and being British, of course we just don’t know what to do with ourselves – well personally I don’t function so well in the heat, so I’ve been hiding indoors wherever possible! Today, I’ve put together a few products, aiming to help you fight the frizz with your hair, keep skin cool, and prevent makeup from sliding down your face…

So starting from the top, for hair protection I have the Phytoplage Original Protective Sun Oil (£17.00 at John Bell & Croyden) – this is a luxurious hair oil that’s perfect for protecting dry and damaged hair that has been weakened by the effects of sun exposure. It includes a natural UV filter and nourishes and moistures the hair so becomes soft and supple.

And the Phytoplage Huile Protective Sun Veil (£16.00 at John Bell & Croyden) – for those with normal to dry hair, the Protective Sun Veil offers an invisible UV filter including Sunflower Extract, Illipe Extract, White Lotus Extract and Sweet Almond to protect, hydrate and nourish hair.

If the dreaded summer frizz is a problem for you, Kerasilk have some fantastic products that can help. The Kerasilk Control De-Frizz Primer (£21.50 at Goodwill Salons) is packed with Keratin and Liquid Silk to instantly tame frizz & flyaway’s whilst working to protect against heat & humidity. And the Kerasilk Control Humidity Barrier Spray (£21.50 at Goldwell Salons) – shields styled hair from high humidity to block frizz, whilst giving a shiny, weightless finish.

Onto skincare now, the RMK Skintuner Cooling Gel – (£32.00 at ) is perfect for calming and refreshing the skin. It has a light gel formula that melts into the skin, absorbing quickly and leaving a smooth finish, without any stickiness. It contains extracts of Citrus and Bilberry, which permeate the skin, protecting against dryness, whilst helping to retain moisture.

For a cheaper alternative, the L’Oreal Hydra Genuis Moisturiser for Sensitive Skin (£9.99 at ) is a fantastic affordable moisturiser. Inspired by Asian skincare, Hydra Genuis promises to deliver pure moisture that penetrates quickly, deeply and continuously, without overloading the skin. It contains Aloe Vera Sap and Hyaluronic Acid to instantly refresh the skin and lock in moisture. This has a very similar texture to the above Skintuner Cooling Gel, and also promises to release continuous hydration for up to 72 hours.

I’ve also been loving the Uriage Eau Thermale Water (£8.50 at John Bell & Croyden) – this is a skincare water that you just spritz on your face whenever you want a cooling and refreshing hit. The formula contains trace elements and Mineral Salts, to moisturise, and it helps to sooth sensitive skin thanks to its high content of Calcium and Magnesium Salts.

And lastly the Bioderma Photoderm Bronz SPF50 Invisible Mist (£24.00 at John Bell & Croyden) – I have to say it really doesnt get better than this for sun protection. This invisible mist for face and body offers super high SPF50 protection combined with a 100% transparent, non oily and non sticky texture. It’s also alcohol free, doesnt dry the skin and helps to prolong your tan – what more could you need?

For makeup, the Cover FX Custom Blot Drops (£34.00 at ) – are definitely worth a shot if you suffer with oily skin. These matifying drops work to control excess oil, reduce shine and clear pores. They also contain light diffusing particles to reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores whilst Chamomile Extract soothes and tones the skins texture for a flawless matte finish. You can either apply the product direct to the skin, or mix in with your foundation or moisturiser to customise results.

I also have the Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder (£13.50 at ) – this super lightweight, translucent setting powder is perfect for locking makeup in place, and offers a smudge and water resistant finish for up to 16 hours. It has a microfine texture that is translucent upon application, meaning it doesn’t affect the colour of your foundation, and gives a velvety matte, natural looking finish.

Clarins also have a few new products that are perfect for combatting the hot weather. The Clarins Pore Perfecting Matifying Foundation (£28.00 at ) – this foundation has a matte finish and acts like an ‘imperfection eraser’ by smoothing out fine lines and pores with its micro-beads made from Acacia Gum. It promises to leave skin refreshed, smooth and comfortable.

And I love the Clarins Pore Perfecting Matifying Kit (£33.00 at – this super handy little kit contains everything you need to smooth and mattify your skin on the go. The palette opens to reveal a transparent pressed powder to smooth the skin and mask pores, as well as refillable mattifying papers to instantly absorb shine. This kit is definitely handy to keep in your handbag over the summer months.

I’d love to hear which beauty products you rely on when the weather heats up? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx
