Beauty: NEW YSL Tatouage Couture Matte Stain Liquid Lipsticks

Posted on October 31, 2017

Hi Guys!

The latest must-have releases from YSL have recently landed at TSNC HQ – the Tatouage Couture Matte Stain Liquid Lipsticks. These brand new liquid lip stains really are quite innovative, offering an ultra-luxe formula promising to deliver intense colour payoff, with a naked lip feel…

So is this a lip stain, or a liquid lipstick? Well actually the answer is both. Traditionally, liquid lipsticks have quite a thick, heavy formula, that feels fairly weighty and noticeable on the lips, and of course we all know liquid lipsticks are usually really drying too. So YSL have come up with a kind of hybrid product – the Tatouage Couture Matte Stain Liquid Lipsticks offer the best of both worlds –

Like a stain, the formula is amazingly lightweight and inky, and when you apply it, it really does feel like there’s nothing on your lips, maybe just the hint of a balm and that’s it. And also like a stain, these products do leave a stain behind after you’ve wiped them off (of course the brighter and deeper colours leave more intense stains)

But, like a liquid lipstick, they also have really good pigmentation. Don’t get me wrong, they’re not completely 100% opaque, but considering the weightless formula, I think YSL have done an excellent job of giving a remarkable amount of colour, without the heavy, drying feeling of a traditional liquid lipstick. I’d actually go so far as to say these are slightly moisturising too – who’d have thought we’d ever see this in a matte finish liquid lipstick!

The applicator is also like nothing I’ve ever seen before. It’s wide, flat and slanted, with a hollowed out section in the centre to pool the product ready for spreading on the lips. The pointed end really helps you apply with precision as the sharp edge is perfect for defining the lip line – you can really tell this product has been carefully thought out right to the finer details.

There are 18 shades available, and the ones I have above are –

  • 01 Rouge Tatouage – a true bright red.
  • 03 Rose Ink – an intense fuchsia pink
  • 08 Black Red Code – a deep burgundy red.
  • 09 Grenat No Rule – a blue toned red.
  • 11 Rose Illicite – a light baby pink.
  • 13 True Orange – a true intense orange.
  • 17 Unconventional Orange – a bright tangerine orange.

You can see that the only swatch that looked quite sheer was Rose Illicite, the baby pink shade. But this actually applied just as well as the others on the lips, giving great colour payoff.

If you’re a fan of matte finish liquid lipsticks, but not that heavy, drying feel on the lips, then I highly recommend you check these out.

The YSL Tatouage Lip Stains are £29.00 each and available now at ,  and .

Beauty: NEW ASOS Own Brand Makeup Collection

Posted on October 27, 2017

Hi Guys!

ASOS have been going for years now, and I’ve been a fan from the very beginning (remember when it was As Seen On Screen, anyone?) So I’m truly excited that they’ve now, finally brought out their own range of makeup…

The ASOS beauty collection contains pretty much everything you could want or need in terms of colour makeup (there are no bases such as foundations and primers included in the collection at the moment) Also, the majority of products are priced at well under £10, with the exception of the Eyeshadow Palette which is still very reasonable at £12.00.

The ethos of the collection is simply fun – there are no rules or limits. The products are straightforward, with cute packaging. There’s no supersonic ingredients here, no anti-ageing, anti-wrinkle, plump this, hide that, this is just straightforward no-frills colour makeup, for anyone and everyone to use as they please – which I LOVE.

Experience a more playful reality with the new ASOS Make-Up collection. It’s time for a new perspective on beauty, free from rules, limits and stereotypes. Express another side of yourself every day with our vibrant matte lipsticks, contouring palettes and shimmery eyeshadows.

Starting with complexion products, I have the  (£8.50) – which are currently available in two colours, Boast and BulletProof. Both are medium shades which will suit both light and medium skin tones. Shade Boast is more golden toned with a very slight touch of golden shimmer, and Bulletproof has a slightly more reddish tone, with a matte finish. Both are incredibly soft and easy to buff into the skin – I like Boast especially as the golden tone really makes my skin look warm and glowy.

And I also have two of the (£8.00) – these are also currently available in two shades, Acceptance, which is a matte rose pink, and Unbothered which is a light creamy peach with more of a satin finish. Though both are nice, I found Acceptance to have a slightly stiffer formula, with Unbothered being easier to apply and blend. I hope ASOS will be bringing out more shades as I’m personally a big fan of more peachy / coral toned blushers.

Next I have the (£9.00) – again two shades are currently available, Tenacious and Flawed. Tenacious is the lighter shade, giving a lovely champagne glow, and Flawed is a golden bronze, perfect for deeper skin tones. Both give the skin a really nice glowy highlight that you can easily blend out for a natural look. I really like the smooth creamy formula, and the twist up stick applicator means you can directly apply to the face and blend in with a finger – easy!

I also have one of the (£6.50) – these nifty little pots contain a wax under the lid, which you apply to the skin first as an adhesive for your glitter, then you unscrew underneath to reveal your pot of loose glitter. I have shade Nonchalant, which is a lilac glitter with blue and green reflects. This glitter can be used on your face, body, nails and hair, and I must admit I was a bit unsure about the wax at first, but after trying it out it really does a great job of keeping the glitter in place.

For pencils, I have two eyeliners and two lipliners. The  (£5.00) come in two shades, Pushy and Grounded. Pushy is an intense matte black, and Grounded is a metallic chocolate brown. Both give creamy intense colour, which literally won’t move once they’re applied – and they also come with an in-built sharpener at the base of pencil which is awesome!

The (£5.00) are pretty similar, there are three shades available of which I have two, 1/2 Full, a bright red, and Sturdy which is a nude beige. In the same style as the eyeliners, they have a fine tip and come with a handy sharpener in the base of the pencil. The texture of the pencils is smooth and easy to apply without any dragging, and they’re also smudge proof.

Next the (£12.00) – there are four available at the moment, all in fairly muted, neutral tones. I have Strong, which is a palette of cool, smokey eyeshadows, including four shimmer and two matte shades. There’s not really too much you can say about this except the shadows are really nice, well pigmented and soft enough to apply well, but not so soft that you get fall out. This is a fab little palette, and small enough to pop in your handbag which is aways a point for me!

And I have to say I’m really loving the (£6.00) – I have shade Vigilant, which is a true gold with a metallic finish. It has a fine brush for detailed application (I just want to note that I’ve applied it quite thickly on my hand swatch above) and dries down to a high shine metallic finish that doesn’t budge.

I also have the  (£8.00, not shown) – this comes in one shade, Bossy which is a rich black colour. I have to say though the formula seemed good (not clumpy, coated well etc) I found the brush to be too big! The brush on this mascara is pretty massive, and too big for my stumpy little lashes unfortunately. If you’re a fan of a large mascara brush though, this could be perfect for you.

On to  (£7.00) now – ASOS have a selection of shades available in both Matte and Satin finishes. Above I have –

  • A Game – a matte orange red shade
  • Owned – an intense true red with a satin finish
  • Steely – a matte peachy pink
  • Out There – a matte bright orange

You can see by my swatches that the pigmentation is very impressive, both finishes give true, intense colour, as well as fantastic coverage. I’m now in love with Owned, it’s just such a beautiful shade, and the satin finish is super creamy and comfortable to wear. This is definitely my favourite!

And lastly the  (£7.00) – currently there are four shades available on the site, of which I have three. Prove It is the most gorgeous intense bright red shade, Overqualified is a pretty nude pink, and Immersed is a nude griege. The formula is thick and moussey, and not runny or liquid in any way. They dry down really quickly and leave lips with a super pigmented matte finish that lasts for hours.

Overall I’m incredibly impressed with the ASOS Makeup collection – apart from a couple of personal quibbles, everything really is fantastic. From the packaging to the formulas, ASOS really have hit the mark with these products – and with the price point being so reasonable too, they’re definitely worth checking out. If you’d like any further info or swatches (as I didn’t manage to include all of them) please just shout and I’ll be happy to help.

The above products are all available now exclusively at .

I was recently kindly given a voucher to spend at Feel Unique, specifically on their new  section. This is basically a mini boutique on the site where the beauty experts at Feel Unique have arranged a curated selection of products, with different themes each month…

Feel Unique promise you’ll find the very best in beauty in one place – the Unique Boutique, offering product innovation from some of the world’s most revered fashion houses, backstage beauty trends and expert panel-approved products, the Unique Boutique edit explores the powerful connection between beauty and fashion.

Now, the products I have are actually from last month’s selection – I’ll go over them individually below. But for this month, the Unique Boutique is all about cozy autumn evenings in, and taking time to pamper yourself. Here’s what you can currently find on the site –

  • Luxury Skincare Heroes – Colder weather brings changes to your skin, it’s time to give yourself some TLC.
  • Innovative Skincare – An edit of products featuring cutting edge skincare technology.
  • Amazing Masks – The biggest craze in skincare, from sheets and foams to lip plumpers and fatigue fighters, masks are having a serious moment right now.
  • Bath & Body – Nourish sun starved skin with body elixirs, souffles and butters – almost good enough to eat.
  • Ruth Crilly – Model and beauty insider Ruth Crilly shares her favourite beauty buys in her exclusive video.
  • Fragrance Update – As the days get darker, match your scent to your mood. It’s time to add smoky woods and sultry spices to your fragrance wardrobe.

So, here are the products that caught my eye last month – firstly I couldn’t resist snapping up the . I’ve been dying to try something from Maison Margiela for ages but up until now I’d never had the chance. Lipstick On is of course a fragrance named after makeup – inspired by the intimate atmosphere of a boudoir, a woman applying the finishing touches to her makeup: a delicate cloud of powder, a touch of rouge. This is a scent designed to reflect our personal memories.

The fragrance opens with floral top notes of bergamot, heliotrope and neroli, leading to a soft heart of powdery iris with sensual galbanum and orange blossom. The base is warm and heavy, combining tonka bean, bourbon vanilla and patchouli, revealing a feminine, unforgettable scent of the dressing table.

I also have the gorgeous  – I must admit I’ve actually had one of these in the past but managed to lose it, so I’m really glad to have the opportunity to pick one up again. The Dior Nude Air Luminiser is a beautifully packaged highlighter that gives skin a lovely glow – it’s not glittery or shimmery at all, this just gives skin a gorgeous natural looking highlight, and this shade is also perfect for my pale skin tone.

I also went for the – I love Charlotte Tilbury products, but her eyeshadow palettes are especially gorgeous. The Dolce Vita Palette contains four beautiful autumnal shades housed in a gold compact. If you’re looking to try Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadows, I’d highly recommend picking this palette up.

And lastly the . This is a product that I havent come across before, probably because it’s exclusive to Feel Unique, so it won’t be found anywhere else. The Plumprageous Gloss Lip Plumper is a gloss lip plumper treatment to create the look of visibly fuller lips. On application is gives the classic tingling sensation you get with lip plumping products, with a nude, glossy finish. It definitely makes my lips look and feel fuller, as well as supple and conditioned.

I also received two free samples with my order, which you can choose at checkout, as well as an amazing Feel Unique Exclusive Beauty Bag worth £100, which was an additional freebie at the time I made my purchase. I love that Feel Unique offer these perks! You can also qualify for extra free samples if you spend over £100, and you can currently get 15% off your order (covering makeup, nails and hair) with code SPELL.

If you get a moment I definitely recommend you check out the , they have some amazing skincare products on there at the moment!

Beauty: What’s New at Giorgio Armani Beauty?

Posted on October 16, 2017

Hi Guys!

Over the last few months I’ve received some fantastic looking products from Giorgio Armani beauty to try out. I’ve finally got round to gathering them all together and photographing them, and I’ve been trying them out over the last week or so.

I must admit Giorgio Armani isn’t a brand I’d automatically gravitate to –  mostly because I don’t have a counter near where I live, so I have no way of trying products before I buy – so I’m really excited I’ve been given this opportunity to give their products a go, and hopefully find a few favourites. Let’s get stuck in!

Starting with the lips, I have a few of the brand new  (£29.00) – these are moisturising lip creams that promise to colour like a lipstick, moisturise like a balm and give the shine of a gloss. I suffer with dry lips pretty much all year round, so I’m really liking the sound of these!

The Ecstasy Shine Lipsticks are available in 18 shades, and I have 400, which is a classic true red, as well as Silenzio 200, a warm taupe brown, and Smile 100, a medium nude beige. The formula combines liquid pigments with emollient oils to give a light reflecting, plumping effect, promising 8 hours of lasting moisture, with a comfortable creamy texture.

These lipsticks though expensive, definitely get a thumbs up from me, they’re just so comfortable to wear, and feel smooth, creamy and hydrating – a definitely must try for those with dryer lips.

I also have one of the (£29.00) – this is a super lightweight liquid lipstick that promises to be up to four times thinner than your average long lasting liquid lipstick. And I must say this lipstick does literally feel weightless on the lips, like you’re not wearing anything at all. I have shade 300 which is a bright tangerine orange offering fantastic pigmentation that doesn’t move throughout the day.

For another hydrating option, the (£28.00) is definitely worth a look. This is an award-winning sheer lipstick with a weightless finish, offering intense hydration with a tint of colour. This definitely gives less pigmentation than the Ecstasy Shine Lipsticks, but still feels super smooth and comfortable to wear.

On to eyes now, the (£28.00) is a liquid eyeshadow available in 16 shades, offering 16 hours of wear. The formula combines the finish of a powder, staying power of ink and the feel of cream. Personally I’m not the biggest fan of liquid eyeshadows, but these have a lovely smooth creamy formula that dries down to a light feeling powdery finish. I have shades 1 Obsidian, a deep blue toned black, and 11 Rose Ashes, a light iridescent rose pink. I found Obsidian quite hard to work with, as it’s such a dark shade it’s quite unforgiving (I think my lack of skill with application is more the problem here than the actual product though!) but I love Rose Ashes, it’s so pretty and looks beautiful swept across the lid.

For fragrance, I have the brand new (from £47.00 for 30ml) – this is a bight, playful and happy fragrance. It’s described as a delicious and sparkling perfume, irresistible like a ripe raspberry, it’s unabashedly feminine, full, instinctive and passionate.

Both bold and seductive, Because It’s You opens with bright sparkling notes of ripe raspberry and green mandarin, leading to a fun floral heart of violet, jasmine and rose. The base comprises of warm and seductive vanilla mixed with musk and patchouli, for a sensuous and alluring dry down.

  • Top Notes: Raspberry, Blackcurrant and Neroli.
  • Heart Notes: Violet leaves accord, Rose Absolute and Jasmin Sambac Absolute.
  • Base Notes: Patchouli Essence, Vanilla Extract and Musks.

And the also (fairly) new (from £48.00 for 30ml) – this is definitely more of a summery scent, inspired by the appeal of a beautiful sunrise that glows pink above the sea, Giorgio Armani Sky Di Gioia is a feminine floral perfume with plenty of fruity notes, combining to create a modern and elegant fragrance with a touch of femininity and softness.

Sky Di Gioia EDP is definitely more of a fresh, fruity fragrance, opening with bright and juicy notes of lychee accord and crispy green pear, leading to a floral heart of dewy rose centifolia, velvety peony and a subtle hint of salty transluzone. The sensual white musk at the base adds its accents of blackcurrant bus and blackberry leaves to this beautifully feminine fragrance.

  • Top Notes: Lychee Accord and Green Pear.
  • Heart Notes: Peony, Rose Centifolia and Transluzone.
  • Base Notes: White Musk, Blackcurrant and Blackberry Leaves.

And now onto brows, the (£28.00) is a fantastic multi-use product that can be used as to fill in the eyebrows, used as eye shadow or eyeliner and can also be used to contour the face and touch up the hairline if you wish, and it comes in 11 shades to suit (pretty much) every hair colour.

I really like this to fill in brows, though the brown shade I have isn’t quite right for me, it definitely does a great job and doesn’t smudge throughout the day.

The (£25.00) is an automatic dual ended pencil offering a micro pencil for precision application at one end, with a slim comb for shaping at the other. The formula promises 6 hour waterproof wear – which applies with ease and precision, allowing you to create a natural look with ‘hair by hair’ application. I love that this pencil is so fine, enabling you to create a truly natural look.

And lastly the (£30.00) – this double ended brush has a fine eyeliner flat brush at one end, and a brow spoolie at the other, to allow you to expertly shape and define your brows. It’s a good little brush, and definitely does the job, but it’s quite up there in terms of price.

So what do I think? Well overall I’m impressed with the products I’ve been trying out, the fragrances are both gorgeous and easy to wear, and I particularly love the new Ecstasy Shine Lipsticks, they feel so moisturising and smooth on the lips – out of everything these are definitely my favourites!

Giorgio Armani Beauty and Fragrance products are available now at ,  and .

Beauty: Kiko Cosmetics Fall 2.0 Limited Edition Collection

Posted on October 12, 2017

Hi Guys!

I have one of Kiko Milano Cosmetics latest limited edition collections to share with you today – the Fall 2.0 Collection is inspired by Venice, the ultimate city of romance…

The collection captures the essence of the regal Baroque city and its many delights, through makeup products that reawaken an innate sensuality, with luxurious colours ranging from elegant nudes to romantic reds, decadent blues to purples and the most spectacular deep shades. The makeup looks are classic, skin is perfect and lips precisely defined. The gaze captures our attention with magnetic smoky eyes and deep colours. A high-performance collection where the mask, symbol of intriguing femininity, offers a new dimension to self-care, without sacrificing the intimacy of lace.

Starting with the Duo Bronzer in shade 01 Bright Life (£15.90) – I always love Kiko bronzers, whenever they bring out a new collection, their bronzers always seem to end up being one of my favourite products. This Duo Bronzer comprises of a pressed powder in two different yet complimentary colours and finishes, the main section has a texturised pattern embossed into the power and has a matte finish, and there’s a smaller section which is slightly lighter in shade, with a metallic finish.

The powder is wonderfully soft and easy to apply, and the formula contains Soft Focus properties to minimise imperfections. The first powder mattifies and perfects the complexion, whilst the metallic bronzer refines the look for a sophisticated, professional result, leaving skin looking radiant with a healthy glow. I love this shade, which is perfect for my pale skin, and though I’m not a massive fan of shimmer in bronzer, I like that you have the option here if you wish to use it.

Next the Duo Blush in 01 New Coral (£12.90) – much like the above bronzer, this blush is a ‘duo’ product, but this time rather than two different finishes, the blush includes two different shades, both with a matte finish.

I have the blush in shade 01 New Coral which includes a light peachy pink, and a more intense orange-coral shade. The formula is smooth and creamy on application, and thought it’s a powder, it has a lovely liquid finish, that’s easy to blend to look like a natural flush on the cheeks, or built up for a more intense look.

I also have the Magnetic Eyeshadow in shade 04 Purple Mind (£12.90) – this is a gorgeous metallic finish loose pigment eyeshadow that’s velvety to the touch and super smooth on application, as well as being intensely pigmented.

Interestingly there is a magnet placed in the base of the packaging, which shapes the pigment to give the wave like finish on the top. The magnet keeps this pattern even after you’ve used the product, and it also stops the pigment from falling out. I think this is kind of cool, but I’d also be interested to find out exactly how the pigment is magnetised!

I also have one of the Lip Stylos in shade 02 Modern Mauve (£9.90) – this shade really is gorgeous and perfect for autumn. Kiko’s lip Stylos just tick all the boxes for me – they’re creamy and smooth to apply, give fantastic pigmentation and last for hours. These are definitely worth a look if you’re on the hunt for a new affordable lipstick.

And lastly I have one of their Metallic Liners in shade 02 Be Gold (£5.90) – this is a bright metallic gold shade that can be used on the eyes, lips and face – I’m not sure I’d be using this on my lips personally, but I still love that this is a multi-use product allowing you to be as creative as you wish. This light gold shade is great for adding highlight to the inner corners of the eyes, or even under the brows or the cupids bow, and it’s also available in light rose pink and copper shades.

If you’d like to see swatches of anything or have any questions, please just shout 🙂

The Fall 2.0 collection is available at  now.
