Beauty: Charlotte Tilbury Natural Glowing Look Quick ‘N’ Easy Kit

Posted on January 26, 2017

Hi Guys!

Charlotte Tilbury seem to be bringing out some fantastic products of late (well doesn’t she always?) and today I have one of the new Quick ‘N’ Easy Kits to share with you…

I love the idea of quick and effective makeup application, and I’m definitely not alone as Charlotte Tilbury has just launched four new grab ‘n’ go kits for that very purpose – promising to cover every makeup look you could need, with the minimal of effort and time. Described as finger-smudging, multi-tasking makeup on the go, I think this is just the set I need to suit my busy lifestyle!

The four sets are as follows –

  • The Natural Glowing Look – for a fresh faced, radiant look.
  • The Daytime Chic Look – for an effortless daytime look.
  • The Smoky Eye Evening Look – for a sultry evening look.
  • The Red Carpet Party Look – for a striking red lip look.

Each set contains a selection of four to five products, including a mixture of deluxe size minis and full sizes. From looking at the sets, it appears that most of the products are all full sized, except for the Mascara and Wonderglow (where they are included) which are deluxe minis.

The Natural Glowing Look Kit is designed to give a natural, fresh-faced look with instant radiance in five minutes flat. Here’s what this kit includes:

For the complexion there is a Mini Wonderglow (15ml) – this is a soft-focus finish primer designed to give the complexion a healthy, dewy glow, whilst helping to disguise wrinkles and even out skin tone, and there’s also a Beach Stick in Moon Beach for the cheeks – this is a multitasking product for both lips and cheeks, to give a youthful pop of colour.

For eyes, Charlotte has included her Legendary Lashes Mascara – promising an instant Hollywood false lash effect, this mascara volumises and lengthens for a striking look. And the Colour Chameleon Pencil in Amber Haze – this is a gorgeous eye shadow pencil in a shimmering bronze shade, designed to bring out your natural eye colour.

And lastly for lips, there is the gorgeous Matte Revolution Lipstick in Very Victoria – Charlotte is famous for her matte lipsticks, and the shade Very Victoris is a stunning nude taupe shade, inspired by Victoria Beckham, with a soft and comfortable matte finish.

You can probably tell that I’m incredibly impressed with this set! The price point is very reasonable too – at £55 per set I think you’re getting a really good deal. In the Natural Glowing Look Kit, the lipstick on its own would be £23, the Beach Stick is worth £30 and the Colour Chameleon Pencil is £19, so these three products alone have a value of £72 – and that’s not taking the deluxe mini Wonderglow and Mascara into consideration either!

If you’re looking to try Charlotte Tilbury makeup, these kits should definitely be your first port of call. The Natural Glowing Look Kit is £55.00 and available now at .

Beauty: NEW Nip & Fab Concentrated Skincare Shots

Posted on January 25, 2017

Hi Guys!

It’s been while since I’ve had Nip & Fab on the blog – for those not familiar, Nip & Fab is basically Rodial’s little sister, offering effective and affordable skincare solutions aimed at a slightly younger market.

They’ve just launched a brand new range of four skincare ‘shots’ – which are basically concentrated serums and oils, designed for specific skincare concerns. To use them you just add a ‘shot’ to your favourite moisturiser or serum before applying to the skin – easy.

Firstly we have the Glycolic Fix Radiance Shot – perfect for those looking for a boost of luminosity, the Glycolic Fix Radiance Shot contains glycol acid to retexture and resurface the skin, fruit acids to stimulate skin cell renewal, and amino acid derivatives to reduce the appearance of pigmentation. These exfoliating acids work to reveal a natural looking luminescent glow whilst aloe vera and allantoin care for the skin.

The Kale Fix Protecting Shot – is a lovely lightweight, hydrating serum that’s definitely one to try if you suffer with dry and dull looking skin. The Kale Fix Protecting Shot contains a selection of vitamins (including B5, C and E), as well as kale extract and pronalen bio, to reinforce the skin, protect against environmental pollutants, and provide deep nourishment and boosted defence.

The Viper Venom Fix Blurring Shot – is perfect for those looking to hide visible pores and smooth out fine lines. It contains 5x concentrated Syn-Ake to smooth and soften the skin, soft focus powders to give a matt finish with an instant blurring effect, and a tightening complex gives and immediate lifting effect, resulting in flawless, silky-smooth skin.

And lastly the Bee Sting Fix Repairing Shot – this is a lightweight, nourishing oil that promises to repair and boost damaged and dry skin. It contains bee venom to help plump and firm the appearance of the skin, royal jelly to condition and repair, and hyaluronic acid to intensely hydrate.

I’ve been trying to decide which would be best for my skin, and I’ve gone with the Kale Fix Protecting Shot (yep, dry and dull skin over here) – I’ve only just started using this but it really seems to be doing the job so far, leaving my skin feeling hydrated and nourished, and giving my complexion a ‘boost’. If you’re looking to amp up your skincare this January without breaking the bank, you should definitely check these out.

The full range of Nip & Fab Shots are available now from £19.99 each at .

Fragrance: Jo Malone Myrrh & Tonka Cologne Intense

Posted on January 24, 2017

Hi Guys!

There aren’t many things that excite me more than a new Jo Malone release – and today I have the brand new Myrrh & Tonka Cologne Intense to share with you…

‘There is an atmosphere of addiction and carnal richness to this fragrance which appeals to both men and women. At the top there is a hint of lavender and a floral note, creating a comforting and voluptuous opening. The big, rich heart and base note of Myrrh is sensual. And the Tonka brings generosity. It’s captivating and mesmerising’ – Mathilde Bijaoui, Master Perfumer.

Myrrh & Tonka Cologne Intense really is just as wonderful as I was expecting – and I think it may now be my favourite Jo Malone fragrance. It’s a warm, rich and creamy scent, that’s comforting yet sensual. I’m a complete sucker for Jo Malone’s Cologne Intense range, which are heavier, warmer and more of what you’d call an evening fragrance, compared to their standard colognes.

That said, Myrrh & Tonka is actually surprisingly wearable – I say that in the sense that this isn’t and overly heavy ‘evening’ scent. It’s not what I would call intoxicating, like some intense fragrances can be, but it’s just powerful enough to keep that sensual, enticing element which we know and love from Jo Malone.

Myrrh & Tonka opens with a top note of lavender – which I initially thought may not exactly be ‘my thing’ but boy was I wrong! The Lavender is sweet and slightly powdery, leading to a heart of Omumbiri Myrrh combined with rich accents of warm Almond, Vanilla and aromatic Tobacco of the Tonka Bean at the base – and it really is just the most beautiful note combination. Though initially the lavender makes it seem quite a feminine scent, after the dry down it’s actually very gender-neutral, and I can see both men and women easily falling in love with this fragrance.

  • Top Note: Lavender
  • Heart Note: Omumbiri Myrrh
  • Base Note: Tonka

As expected, this scent is a lingerer, it lasts for hours and hours, and as the day goes on you’re left with a wonderful rich and creamy aroma, that’s both seductive and noticeable, whilst being luxuriously understated.

I’d describe Myrrh & Tonka as one of those rare fragrances that literally turns heads. It’s distinct and enticing, and I can guarantee that if you wear it, people around you will be asking about your perfume!

Myrrh & Tonka is a definite must-try for Jo Malone fans – both male and female – and if you’re a fan of combining your scents, it’s worth pairing it with Jo Malone’s classic Pomegranate Noir for a fruity element, or even Velvet Rose and Oud for a more floral take.

Myrrh & Tonka is £105 for 100ml, available now at , and there’s also a half-size 50ml bottle available too (which I think is new size as I haven’t seen any Cologne Intense fragrances available in 50ml before) which you can snap up for £74.00 .

Beauty: Skincare Favourites from Beauty Bay

Posted on January 23, 2017

beauty-bay-skincare-favourites

Hi Guys!

Happy Monday! I hope you had a lovely weekend 🙂 Just before Christmas I received a rather lovely surprise package from Beauty Bay, which was filled with a selection of their skincare favourites for me to try out and share with you. They included a fantastic range of brands covering varying price points – I hope you enjoy!

colleen-rothschild-cleanser-and-coconut-oil

First up we have the  (£46.00) – Colleen Rothschild is a new brand to me, and this luxurious sounding cleansing balm promises to melt away daily impurities, waterproof makeup and decongests pores – which is exactly what my skin needs.

The Radiant Cleansing Balm has a lovely aromatic scent which helps to calm and decongest, whilst soothing and rejuvenating the senses. It contains Lipexel to combat dehydration, Black Seed Oil for antioxidant protection and Moringa Oil to restore luminosity to the complexion. I’ve tried this a couple of times now and I have to say I love it! The balm is wonderfully thick and rich feeling, and it does a great job of removing makeup, leaving skin feeling cleansed and soft to the touch.

And the  (£6.95) – now I must admit I never quite got on the Coconut Oil bandwagon when the fad first started a couple of years ago. I know you can use coconut oil for pretty much anything – a moisturiser, makeup remover, an additive to cooking, you can spread it on your toast, or even use around the house for various things (just Google it and you’ll see there are endless uses for coconut oil). I have to say I love the fact that this is a single, simple, natural product, that offers so many varying uses. It’s naturally high in Vitamin E, and also contains Lauric and Capric Acid which provide anti-ageing, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. I’ve started using this on some dry patches of skin on my arms and it really is working wonders!

body-blends-and-oandm

And while we’re talking about coconuts, I also have the  (£19.95) – it seems that body scrubs are having a bit of a moment right now, and this scrub from Body Blendz is perfect for those who suffer with cellulite, eczema, acne and dehydrated skin. I should mention that though this is named ‘Coconut Delight’ it’s actually a coffee based scrub, and smells like coffee – which really is very nice as I LOVE the smell of coffee.  This scrub promises to nourish the epidermis without leaving a greasy residue, whilst lifting away traces of impurities and diminishing the signs of ageing.

And I also have the  (£28.00) – ok so it’s not skincare, but it’s not every day I get to try out a £28 hair mask so I wanted to mention it! The O&M Day Mircale Moisture Masque is a deeply hydrating treatment mask designed for damaged and dehydrated hair. You’re advised to use this on a weekly basis to keep your locks silky smooth and feeling fabulous, and the formula contains Argan Oil to smooth away frizz and soften hair, Macadamia Oil to moisturise, and Natural Silica to give hair a glossy finish.

antipodes-nugg-skincare

Next we have the  (£9.49) – now I’ve used this product before, so I already know it’s a winner! The Nugg Intense Lip Boosting Mask contains Shea Butter, Coconut Oil and Liquorice Root Complex to nourish, moisturise and plump the lips, whilst diminishing the appearance of fine lines, creases and wrinkles. If you suffer with dry lips like I do, I highly recommend you try this!

And the  (£44.00) – this rather unassuming looking bottle has actually turned out to be one of my favourite products. The Cellex-C Hydra 5 B-Complex is an oil-free clear gel containing an extremely high percentage of hyaluronic acid, as well as Vitamin B-5 to instantly give your skin a silky smooth texture, and therefore providing a perfect base for make-up. This gel promised to give you noticeably smoother, more radiant looking skin within 3-6 weeks. I’ve been using this for around a month now and my skin is absolutely loving it, and I actually think I can physically see the difference it’s made. This is definitely a winner in my books.

The award winning  (£29.75) is a natural anti-ageing treatment which promises to resurrect the skin whilst you sleep. This Nourishing Night Cream stimulates collagen production by up to 92%, and replenishes the skin with essential Fatty Acids and naturally high contents of Vitamins A & C. It also contains active Manuka Honey to soothe the skin, and Vinanza Grape helps to neutralise free radical damage whilst improving elasticity and firmness and preventing moisture loss.

And the  (sample) – back to Colleen Rothschild, this complexion perfecting serum works to rid the skin’s surface of imperfections. It delivers an intense hit of naturally enhanced hydration which absorbs quickly into the epidermis releasing an array of skin perfecting benefits such as reduced fine lines, diminished dark spots and anti-inflamed acne.

charcoal-face-wipes

And lastly the  (£5.00) – now I know this isn’t going to go down well, but I am a fan of face wipes… I just love how handy they are. But I have to say, black charcoal wipes are a new one to me! These Detoxifying Charcoal Wipes are exclusive to Beauty Bay and promise to help rid the complexion of impurities as well as stubborn makeup and dirt, leaving you looking and feeling completely refreshed. The charcoal helps to remove impurities, and tomatoes offer antioxidant properties – and they really do work well, leaving skin feeling cleansed and fresh.

Beauty: Testing The New NEWA Beauty Device

Posted on January 13, 2017

newa-beauty-tool-review

Hi Guys!

I hope you’re having a wonderful week? It’s absolutely freezing here and I’m currently working from my living room with my wooly hat on! 😀

Over the last couple of months I’ve been trailing a brand new skincare device, so I thought I’d get my thoughts together today and let you know how I’ve been getting on…

newa-anti-ageing-tool-review

As you can probably tell by the pictures, this device is called the NEWA – it’s designed by a company called AesthetiCare, who work with aesthetic clinics across the UK, providing them with clinically proven medigrade skincare and treatments for skin rejuvenation and problem skin conditions – so these guys definitely know their stuff.

newa-device-review

So what actually is the NEWA? Well it’s a brand new advanced home-use beauty tool specifically designed (and clinically proven) to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, tighten the skin, as well as lift and firm, to leave you with a youthful looking, more radiant complexion. It also works to prevent new wrinkles from developing too which is a bonus!

And how does it work? The NEWA utilises something called 3DEEP technology, which is a unique and patented form of radiofrequency that delivers controlled energy deep into the skin. This energy warms up the skin tissue to the optimum level that stimulates natural collagen production, increasing the blood supply to the skin, and promoting healthy cell activity, which results in wrinkle reduction and skin rejuvenation.

newa-active-tip

The NEWA is really easy to use too – you just apply some Lift Activator Gel to the metal part on top of the device, rub the device lightly over the treatment area to spread the gel over the skin, then turn the device on and again go over lightly in circular motions.

It feels lovely and warm and relaxing on the skin, very much like a massage. I should also point out that the device is FDA cleared for home use, and is completely safe to use, with no pain whatsoever – I was quite surprised to find it such an enjoyable, pampering and pleasant experience.

Also, you can use it any time of day, which is handy to suit your schedule. I prefer the evenings as it’s such a relaxing experience I think it’s nice to do before bed time. NEWA advise to split the face into six treatment areas, which take four minutes each to treat, and you’re advised to use the NEWA five times per week for the first four weeks, then twice a week after that.

Giving your face a lovely warming massage for 24 minutes is the perfect excuse for taking some time out and getting some quality ‘me time’. It’s also worth mentioning that the device vibrates to let you know when each section of the face has been done, which is a really handy feature.

newa-lift-activator-gel

Ok so after using this for just over a month, I have to say I’m really pleased with the results. Immediately after the first use my skin just felt ‘better’, it felt plumper and definitely looked more radiant. After a month I felt like I could really see a difference, the fine lines around my eyes appeared less visible, and my skin just looked brighter and more healthy than before.

newa-trial-review

I would definitely recommend this to someone looking for a home-use beauty tool to help with wrinkles – at £349 I know the price is steep, but if you were to go for similar salon treatments you can bet you’d be spending a lot more than that. At least with the NEWA you get the convenience of using it in the comfort of your own home, at times to suit you.

The NEWA Beauty Tool is available now at for £349.00.

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Beauty News & Gossip 11/01/17: Jeffree Star, Huda Beauty, Too Faced & More!

Posted on January 11, 2017

Hi Guys!

It’s been quite a while since I published my last Beauty News & Gossip post, but you guys have told me that you like them, so I thought I’d start up the series again. I’m aiming to post on a weekly basis covering all the latest hot beauty news, influencer gossip and exciting new releases – enjoy!

Ok so I woke up this morning and the first thing I saw on my social s is that has destroyed a $5.5k Chanel bag on his Youtube channel. Him and his BFF Manny MUA got together to cut up some makeup products with hot knives (as you do) just for LOLs, and Jeffree decided to take it one step further and mutilate a Chanel Boy bag from his collection. By the looks of things this has been one of his most viewed videos in such a short space of time since publishing, and comments have been falling in one of two very distinct camps – Jeffree fans are saying (very rightly so) that ‘it’s his money he can do what he likes with it’ but people are also saying (again very rightly so) comments along the lines of ‘people are starving in this world, and he chooses to do this..’. I totally agree that he can do what he likes with his own things, but he might as well be burning a $5k wad of cash for the sake of gaining views, which in my opinion is in very poor taste – but then would we expect anything else from Jeffree Star?? I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on this.

In other  news, he’s also recently announced that his much anticipated Androgyny Palette will be launching in March. The teasers above shows his second palette has a deep pink textured casing with gold lettering, and the eyeshadows look like they’re going to be a big hit with fans – there appears to be a range of intensely coloured warm matte shades included (judging by the colours Jeffree is wearing above) and I think it will be a total sell out.

You may have also noticed recently that Manny MUA is collaborating with Maybelline on their Big Shot Mascara campaign. I noticed this on Twitter when the ad first launched and didn’t really give it too much thought. Then it popped up again on Facebook via a , I noticed there were thousands and thousands of comments, so thought I’d take a moment to look through. Oh my gosh, the public has had such a strong reaction to this, I really was quite shocked. It was very divided, with a disturbing amount of people being absolutely horrified that a man is wearing makeup (I mean, really?), but luckily there were plenty of positive comments too which appeared to outnumber the negative. It really does worry me how people can be so close minded – we’re in 2017 for Christ’s sake! I think it’s a great collab, and Manny is the perfect influencer to team up with Maybelline – maybe this just seems obvious to me though because I’m part of the beauty community? I don’t know, I think attitudes are changing, but we still have definitely a long way to go. I also think it’s a very clever marketing move on Maybelline’s part – what better way to get your beauty brand talked about across every media channel than to do something ‘controversial’ like having a male in full makeup as the star of the campaign – what do you think?

What would a news and gossip post be without Jaclyn Hill!? It looks like Jaclyn is coming out with another new collaboration within the next two months. She’s not giving away much at the moment but we know it’s an eyeshadow palette, and it’s in collaboration with a brand – maybe Becca again? Or maybe someone new?

I never managed to get my hands on the  Rose Gold Eyeshadow palette – though it looks stunning I just couldn’t justify the expense. She’s now teasing fans with the outer packaging of her upcoming Highlighter Palette – I can’t wait to see what’s inside, I bet it’s going to be stunning!

And lastly when it comes to influencers, it looks like  lasted collab will be with Youtuber Kandee Johnson. As a big Too faced fan I can’t wait to see what they’ll come up with together 😀

On to new products now, and you may have noticed that  is busting out new products like there’s no tomorrow right now, and I’ve just caught wind of yet another gorgeous looking launch – their beautiful Lovelight Highlighters will be coming in March this year – don’t they look gorgeous!

Anastasia has also just launched their first Lip Palette, which is perfect for those that like to experiment with lip shades and change their look frequently. This palette contains a large selection of lipsticks as well as primary colours and black and white shades, so you can pretty much come up with any colour imaginable! This is available now on the  but not yet on the Anastasia UK site.

After visiting New York last year on a press trip, and spending rather a lot of time in Sephora, I discovered Milk Makeup. I have their Cooling Water and Holographic Stick, both of which I love. And I recently heard about their brand new Blur Stick – it’s just now launched at  and it promised to blur skin’s imperfections to give you a ‘real life filter effect’. I really love the sound of this.

The brand that only a few months ago brought us the original (I have them but can’t bring myself to use them!) has recently announced an upcoming collection of Mermaid makeup brushes! Above you can see the original artist sketches for the brushes, it also says they’re now going into production, so watch this space for news of the launch date.

And oh my gosh, the Lancome Rose Collection is EVERYTHING. The highlighter is shaped like an actual rose and it’s just so beautiful! There’s also a limited edition brush to go with it, as well as a palette and a few other products in the collection. These are all available now on the . I can’t wait till it’s available in the UK!

And lastly, I also wanted to mention that that Kat Von D Pastel Goth Palette is available now at  – as with all of Kat’s products this palette looks pretty awesome, it’s going on my wish list right now 🙂

I’d love to hear what you think about the latest news and gossip? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Beauty: Introducing Beauty Pie, the New Take on Beauty Subscriptions

Posted on January 3, 2017

Hi Guys!

Now I love a beauty box sub, and I love the surprise of not knowing whats going to arrive each month, but I also feel that this concept has become a bit stale of late, with many beauty box brands becoming quite repetitive with both the brands and products they use – the whole concept of beauty sub boxes is starting to feel a bit dated and could do with a shake up in my opinion. Anyway, this mini rant brings me nicely on to Beauty Pie – because initially I thought I’d received a new beauty box in the post – which in fact it wasn’t – but it is a subscription service for beauty fans…

Ok so in a nutshell, you subscribe to Beauty Pie for £10 a month, which allows you to be able to purchase their products, at very low ‘factory’ prices, rather than RRP prices.

It’s important to point out that rather than a beauty box, which includes many brands, Beauty Pie only offer their own branded products. Promising ‘luxury cosmetics at factory prices’, they aim to bring the consumer high quality makeup products, cutting out the middle man, expensive promotions and packaging, to bring maximum discounts to the consumer – all resulting in you being able to purchase products at cost prices. So for example, a Beauty Pie lipstick which has a RRP of £20.00, will cost a member less than £3.00 – which really does sound like a great bargain (providing the products are as good as they’re made out to be)

I’ve received a PR a box of five products from Beauty Pie, including a mascara, lip gloss, lipstick, powder and foundation. Here are my initial thoughts –

The Everyday Great Skin Foundation (RRP £30.00, member price £4.75) was unfortunately very much the wrong colour for me – I received Medium Honey was way too dark and way too orange, but by tying it on the back of my hand my initial impression is that it’s a nice, lightweight feeling matte finish foundation, with medium coverage. I’ll see if I can get a shade more matched to my skin tone so I can try it on my face and give you a better idea of what it’s really like. I also want to mention the packaging, which looks pretty. The foundation comes in a frosted glass pump bottle, with a glossy plastic pump at the top – but no lid, which I thought was slightly odd. The look and feel of the product packaging in general is sleek, yet surprisingly lightweight when you hold them. Beauty Pie have explained that they don’t add weights to their packaging like many manufacturers do, which of course is a tactic to make the product heavier, and therefore appear more expensive – I didn’t even realise this was a thing!

Next we have the One Powder Wonder Perfecting Powder (RRP £26.00, member price £3.68) I initially thought was a highlighter as the surface of the powder had quite a sheen with a very slight sparkle. It is in fact a translucent setting powder though – it’s super finely milled and really rather nice. I’ve used this a couple of times now and it sets my foundation well.

The Matte Lipstick in Cowboy Nude (RRP £20.00, member price £2.23) is a lovely mid nude / brown shade which is right up my street – it’s slightly more beige toned than the image looks above. The formula is surprisingly creamy, and easy to apply, and felt neither hydrating nor drying on my lips. And the Superglazy Lipgloss in Sugar Bun (RRP £19.00, member price £2.14) is a nice non-sticky gloss – and the shade Sugar Bun matches the lipstick really well. There’s nothing particularly special about this gloss, but for just over £2.00 I think it’s a bargain.

And lastly the Uber Volume Boost Mascara (RRP £20.00, member price £1.93) – I’m quite fussy with mascaras and I was actually rather surprised with this one as I really rather liked it! My short straight lashes can be a real pain, but this mascara gave a nice curl with a decent level of volume without being to heavy – this is great for every day wear for me.

Overall my initial impression is this is pretty decent makeup (but not particularly outstanding)  and the member prices really are fantastic for the quality you’re getting – BUT – when you consider you’re spending £10 a month on a subscription, and might not buy products every month, the amount you’re spending will soon tot up. Even if you don’t purchase anything for only one month, your £2.14 lip gloss has suddenly cost you £22.14 (£10 for last month’s subscription, £10 for the current month’s, the lip gloss cost price) – so though I do like the concept, I think you really need to weigh it up before being bowled over by the Beauty Pie’s crazy cheap prices.

I’d love to hear what you think of this concept? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx
