The Hero Project has landed… #BeautyOnAMission #TheHeroProject

Hi Guys!

is here! The what?? Well, let me explain… over the last three years a pioneering skincare team with over 100 years of beauty industry knowledge between them have been planning to start a revolution in the beauty world… and they call themselves THE HERO PROJECT. They’re now ready to come to the rescue of millions of women fed up with being disappointed by their beauty products! The team have been listening to what real women want as well as what they don’t, so they could conceive an effective as well as affordable range of skincare products.

We learn what consumers love about current global beauty bestsellers through intense market research, develop out the things people dislike, and sprinkle innovation liberally in formula and communications. We create functional yet chic packaging to excite consumers and allow them to cherry-pick out just the products that are right for them and mix it in with their current at home regime. The mission? To finally give customers what they really want – fabulous products that work at an affordable price!

The Hero Project has literally just launched a couple of days ago, with two brand new and exciting products –

the-hero-project-products-review

Hyasoft Instant Moisture Boost with multi-weight hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5. This is a lightweight clear gel moisturiser, containing multiple types of hyaluronic acid to penetrate the skin at different levels, resulting in an intensively moisturised, plump feeling complexion. Hylasoft is very similar to Indeed Labs Hydraluron Moisture Jelly and Pestle & Mortar’s Pure Hyaluronic Serum– so if you’re a fan of these products, you’ll definitely like this. It’s a clear, non greasy gel that instantly sinks into the skin – and I felt like my skin literally drank this stuff up! It’s suitable for all skin types, and very reasonably priced at £19 for 30ml.

Glow Drops – the second product from The Hero Project, Glow Drops is a lightly scented facial oil, made with over 98% naturally derived ingredients. It contains a blend of essential oils a shot of vitamin C to instantly help smooth, nourish and brighten skin. Again this is non-greasy and fast absorbing, so you won’t need to wait around for an age for it to sink in. Glow Drops is very similar to L’Oreal Age Perfect Extraordinary Facial Oil and Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil, and it’s suitable for all skin types, though those with dull or stressed skin may find this to be particularly beneficial. Glow Drops is £21.00 for 30ml.

And just for fun, I’m also giving away ten tubes of Hylasoft, to ten lucky winners! All you have to do is look through my social pages and find where I’ve hidden either Hylasoft or Glow Drops in one of my images, then comment on the image letting me know you’ve found it, including hashtag #BeautyOnAMission. The two best comments out of the first ten will also receive a bottle of Glow Drops too – so make sure your comment is a good ‘un! This giveaway is open to UK participants only, and will end once ten winners have been chosen. Keep an eye on my social sites for winner announcements too – good luck!

The Hero Project’s Hylasoft and Glow Drops are available now exclusively at .

Diptyque Eau Des Sens Soap

Hi Guys!

It’s been all of about a month since my last Diptyque fix, and I’m really excited about their latest launch – the gorgeous Eau Des Sens collection. I have the Eau des Sens soap to share with you today.

As much as I love Diptyque, I haven’t actually tried that many of their products – simply because they’re not readily available near me. I have a couple of fragrances, Tam Dao and Oyedo which you can read about in this post, and I must admit they’ve been tucked away at the back of my cupboard for way over a year now. More recently, I was more that just a little bit obsessed with the Rosaviola candle over the Valentines period last month, and now I have my first ever Diptyque soap!

diptyque-eau-des-sens-soap-review

Ok so yes I know it’s just a soap, and how much can you really say about a soap? Well I know it sounds a bit corny but this really isn’t ‘just a soap’. I can honestly say I’ve never smelled anything like this before. Firstly, I should tell you that the soap arrived wrapped in paper, in a pretty and very typical Diptyque box, covered in cellophane. After taking the cellophane off the box and peeking inside, before even removing the soap at all, the scent completely filled my kitchen within the hour. I really was so surprised, it was like I’d been spraying perfume around the room. And even though the fragrance clearly packs a punch, by no means was it too strong or over powering. I’m half tempted to just leave the soap on a plate on the windowsill to keep my kitchen smelling amazing!

Eau des Sens confuses the senses, like a piece of music, radiating from the skin. A vital vibration in a harmony of orange blossom, bitter orange, juniper berries, angelica and patchouli. Eau des Sens owes its originality to the way it is composed. A bitter orange, in all its diversity, resonating with unexpected spicy and woody notes. A delight for the senses.

And yes, the fragrance! The Eau des Sens fragrance is just so stunning. It’s described as ‘a sensational octave of scents‘, and the best way I can think of to describe it is ‘multi-faceted’. Neither particularly masculine nor feminine, this fragrance is warm and fresh, with a distinct citrus note which takes me straight to Italy. This scent is just like sunshine on warm skin, with a zesty freshness and a base of green and woody notes freshened by ginger.

I think any fans of Diptyque will be captivated by this fragrance, it’s definitely a must try! The Eau des Sens collection is available now from Diptyque.

I’d love to hear if you’re a fan of Diptyque? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Sponsored Video: Lancome Juicy Shakers #Bantheboring

lancome-juicy-shakers-review-video

Hi Guys!

You’ve probably noticed by now that Lancome’s brand new Juicy Shakers are pretty much everywhere at the moment – and for very good reason too. This is a lip gloss, an oil and a fantastic lip moisturiser, all in one in a cocktail shaker shaped tube – I mean how awesome does that sound!?

The Juicy Shaker combines the colour of a gloss, with the moisturising and conditioning properties of a lip oil, giving a sheer pop of colour that feels amazingly silky on the lips…

lancome-juicy-shakers

The idea of the Juicy Shaker came from Lancome’s original and iconic Juicy Tubes from the early 2000’s. Lancome wanted to bring their popular ‘juiciness’ back to the modern day by utilising new technology, to offer a product that has never been seen before. The Juicy shaker combines this with the look of the ‘Shaker’, one of the fabulous lipsticks imagined by the brand’s founder, Armand Petitjean, in the 1940’s.

So back to the formula, the juicy shaker formula consists of two phases – phase 1 is all about the oils! Lancome have included four precious oils which provide a whole host of complementary properties, to instantly give the lips a smooth and plumped-up look:

  • Peach kernel oil – softening and nourishing.
  • Sweet almond oil – to leave lips supple and re-structured.
  • Cranberry oil – anti-oxidant, protective and restorative of skin’s protective barrier.
  • Musk rose oil – regenerating and soothing.

Phase 2 is all about pigments – the Juicy Shakers combine the comfort of the oils in phase 1, with the colour impact of perfectly dosed pigments in a multitude of vibrant shades with an adjustable finish. You can layer this product up as much as you like for higher colour intensity.

The applicator is also worth a mention – the Juicy Shakers feature Lancôme’s first ever cushion applicator for lips – the chunky applicator is velvety soft and sponge-like to absorb just the right amount of formula for perfect application.

lancome-juicy-shakers-review

I have three out of the 14 available Juicy Shakers and I’ve pretty much been using them every day since I received them. From left to right I have –

  • Wonder Melon 352 – A bright orange-pink shade with a juicy watermelon fragrance.
  • Meli Melon 301 – This is a mid pink colour with a juicy watermelon fragrance.
  • Vanilla Pop 252 – A mid mauve shade with a light vanilla scent.

I love how silky and smooth they feel on the lips, whilst giving a flush of colour – and because the colour is sheer, there’s no worrying about lipstick bleeding or transferring onto teeth, which is always in the back of my mind when wearing more opaque lip products. With Juicy Shakers you’re just left with gorgeous soft and supple lips that feel smooth and hydrated, with no stickiness – oh and they smell amazing too. I highly recommend these!

House of Fraser have very kindly sent me a few of these gorgeous products to try out. I’ve given a brief overview of them below, and full reviews will be coming up shortly –

YSL Touche Eclat Le Teint in BD10 – You can probably guess this by the name, but YSL have taken the technology used in their cult Touche Eclat highlighter, and incorporated it into their latest foundation. The lightweight fluid of Touche Eclat Le Teint aims to illuminate the complexion with its magic light infused formula, whilst erasing imperfections, leaving skin looking natural, radiant and perfected.

in Shade 1 Rose lumiere – Would you believe it if I said touché Eclat has been around for 20 years now? Twenty years!! Most of you will know what Touche Eclat is, so I’ll only touch on this one briefly (See what I did there?) This is the gold clicky pen of dreams, is brightens, highlights, and adds luminosity to your complexion – definitely a must have!

in shade Groenland – This is a rather fabulous sounding oil-free matte foundation which offers SPF30 protection with a soft velvet-matte finish. The formula contains NARS’ innovative Velvet Illusion Complex to instantly transform the look of skin, creating an immediate soft-focus effect that helps to blur imperfections and minimise the look of pores.

Clinique Pep Start Eye Cream 15ml – This sounds exactly what I could do with right now, a cream to ‘pep up’ my ever puffy and dark-circled eye area. You just use twice a day to hydrate, brighten, and generally perk up your under-eyes, leaving you feeling refreshed, and looking wide awake.

 – This is a high-performance and multi-action creme to help significantly reduce the appearance of the signs of ageing, including lines, wrinkles, loss of firmness, dullness and dehydration. This products aims to instantly give skin a smoother, clearer, more radiant appearance.

Kiehl’s Turmeric and Cranberry Seed Energizing Masque – This is an invigorating, energising and exfoliating mask, perfect for targeting a dull and fatigued complexion, giving skin a natural and healthy appearance – I really think I’m going to love this! It’s formulated with cranberry & turmeric to even the skin tone, while crushed cranberry seeds gently exfoliate for smoother, brighter, illuminated-looking skin.

I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products? Or if you’re hoping to pick any up in the Beauty Event?

New Garnier Moisture Bomb & Ultimate Blends Ranges

Posted on March 26, 2016

garnier-new-products-review

Hi Guys!

Garnier is one of those brands that I must admit I do tend to overlook, it’s kind of part of the furniture in my local Boot’s store, and the products never really seem to jump out at me – unless there’s an offer on. I’m pleased to say that Garnier have really upped their game of late though, with the launch of their latest Ultimate Blends hair care and body ranges, and Moisture Bomb skincare products.

The Ultimate Blends hair care ranges cover pretty much every hair care need, Garnier have actually spent 7 years working on these products, whilst listening to the back of women across the country to create products that cater for every hair care need. The ranges include –

  • The Sleek Restorer – for dry and frizzy hair.
  • The Colour Illuminator – for coloured hair.
  • The Nourishing Repairer – for very dry / damaged hair.
  • The Marvellous Transformer – for dry / dull hair.
  • The Silky Smoother – for hair with split ends.
  • The Shine Revitaliser – for normal hair.
  • The Weightless Nourisher – for dry and brittle hair.
  • The Delicate Soother – for delicate hair and sensitive scalps.

I have the , which is perfect for those with delicate hair and / or sensitive scalps, and basically anyone that has issues similar to these. The first thing you’ll notice about these products is the smell – they smell amazing – and I don’t know of anyone that’s tried them that thinks otherwise! The Delicate Soother range contains rice cream and oat milk to nourish, soften & protect the hair as well as the scalp, whilst leaving hair feeling silky soft and shiny.

I’ve been trying out the Delicate Oat Shampoo, Conditioner and Face and Body Balm over the last couple of weeks and I’m really impressed with the results. I love how the hair products leave my hair feeling nourished and super shiny, and the balm is a gorgeous light body moisturiser that just smells divine on my skin.

The  (£7.99) is also a fantastic product – perfect for those will dull or dehydrated skin, this moisturiser contains two antioxidant superfruit extracts: Amla and Pomegranate, combined with daily UVA/UVB protection and a high concentration of Plant Serum to give skin up to 24 hours of continuous hydration. The formula has an ultra-light texture which sinks into the skin, leaving skin feeling hydrated, smoother and radiant.

And the  (£7.99) – this is a slightly heavier version of the 3-in-1 day cream, again injected with Amla, Pomegranate and Plant Serum to give an intensively hydrating formula that helps to smooth the skin, plump out fine lines and leave skin looking visibly younger. This product has a gel-cream texture which is much lighter than I would have expected, and just like the day cream it sinks into the skin quickly, leaving no residue. I think the 3-in-1 Day Cream and Night Cream work really well together as an affordable duo, which are perfect for those with dryer skin types.

The  range and  range are available now from Boots.

New Clarins Boosters: Energy / Repair / Detox

Posted on March 24, 2016

clarins-boosters-review

Hi Guys!

Clarins’ latest offering to the world of skincare is something a little different – and I think I rather like it! They’ve come up with a range of ‘Boosters’ – basically highly concentrated products for specific concerns, and you just add a couple of drops of to your current skincare or foundation, as and when you need it. So for example, if you’re feeling a bit run down you might make sure you get some extra Vitamin C into your diet, with Clarin’s Boosters, if you’re feeling a bit under the weather you might add a couple of drops of the Energy Booster to your moisturiser to perk up, of if you’ve had a hard night on the tiles you could add some Detox Booster to your foundation the next day – this one pretty much explains itself!

‘The new Boosters are incredibly easy to apply, deliver exceptional results and more importantly, give every woman’s skin a boost in their time of need.’

BOOSTER Energy – The energising care for fatigued skin. This highly concentrated formula contains ginseng extract, a Chinese medicinal plant know for its stimulating properties. This booster tones and re-energizes skin whilst minimizing signs of fatigue and reviving radiance. Perfect for:

  • Late nights
  • Hectic lifestyle
  • Long haul travel
  • Fatigue

BOOSTER Repair – The repairing care for weakened skin. This ultra-concentrated formula contains mimosa tenuiflora extract, a Mayan medicinal plant known for its repairing properties. This booster reduces feelings of discomfort and diminishes redness by optimizing the skin’s strength and in turn its recovery. Perfect for:

  • Sunburn
  • Extreme climates
  • Hard, salt or chlorinated water

BOOSTER Detox – The detox care for congested skin. This highly enriched formula contains green coffee extract, a plant from tropical Africa high in caffeine and known for its detoxifying properties. This booster detoxifies and purifies to revive radiance and plump the skin. Perfect for:

  • Partying
  • Overindulgence
  • Extreme pollution

I just love the theory behind these range or products, and they couldn’t be easier to use – you just mix 3 to 5 drops with your moisturiser, mask or foundation, and apply as normal – easy!

Clarins Booster droppers will be available from April, at £30 each.

DHC Skincare Beauty Lift Collection

Posted on March 22, 2016

DHC-Skincare-Beauty-Lift-Collection

Hi Guys!

Japanese skincare experts DHC Skincare are back on the blog today with their latest skincare collection. The Beauty Lift range comprises of four skincare products that contains a unique blend of olive oil, oat kernel extract, peptides and hyaluronic acid, to specifically focus on smoothing skin and giving a lifted appearance…

DHC-Skincare-Beauty-Lift-Collection-2

Starting with the Beauty Lift Lotion (£34.00) – This is actually a hydrating and lifting toner, not a ‘lotion’ as such (I was expecting some sort of moisturiser) This toner has a lovely softening and hydrating effect, with a super light texture. It feels gorgeous on, and I’ve been loving using it after cleansing to nourish and hydrate my skin. It promises to promote firmer, lifted-looking skin with intensely nourishing oat kernel extract and peptides, whilst minimising the look of fine lines and wrinkles for a smoother complexion.

The Beauty Lift Essence (£34.00) – is a silky-soft lifting serum, created to hydrate and reduce the look of fine lines for firmer, lifted-looking skin. This product is another lightweight formula, this time formulated as a serum that feels almost watery and very soothing when applied. My skin really loves this stuff, it sinks in easily and leaves no residue, resulting in my complexion feeling radiant and hydrated.

Next is the Beauty Lift Milk (£34.00) – this is a lightweight yet deeply hydrating and lifting milky moisturiser. It’s been formulated with pentapeptide-18 to help reduce the look of wrinkles, oat kernel extract to help soothe skin and squalene, an antioxidant-rich skin protectant. Though I have dry skin and I do like this product, I think this could work especially well for those with oily or combination skin – if you’re looking for a light moisturiser that does the job and doesn’t feel heavy when applied you should check this out.

And lastly the Beauty Lift Cream (£41.00) – this is an intensive lifting cream moisturiser, to promote firmer, lifted-looking skin with intensely nourishing oat kernel extract and peptides. This cream is basically the opposite end of the spectrum to the previous three products- it’s thick and rich and personally I think it works really well as a night cream. This product deeply hydrates the skin, minimising the look of fine lines and wrinkles for a smoother complexion. It suits my dry skin really well as it intensively moisturises, and I’ve been waking up with wonderfully soft skin after using this of an evening.

DHC-Skincare-Beauty-Lift-Collection-3

So you can see this is obviously a gorgeous as well as effective collection of products – DHC are always up there with pretty packaging! My only slight niggle is the lack of directions for using the range, either individually or as a collection of products – apart from the toner they basically all instruct to ‘use after toner, and for best results use with other Beauty Lift products’ which is a bit non specific – so possibly not the best for skincare newbies. I do however love the Beauty Lift Essence and Beauty Lift Cream, so I’d definitely recommend these products.

The Beauty Lift Collection is available now at .
