I was recently invited to Bourjois latest product launch event but unfortunately I couldn’t make it as I haven’t been very well, boo! They were so kind as to post me a massive selection of their new products to show you, I couldn’t believe my eyes when I opened the parcel, I’m so excited to show you everything! I’m a massive fan of Bourjois products so I couldn’t wait to get stuck in to the big organza bag of goodies and try everything out! I’ve decided to separate my posts up to make reviewing easier, so today’s is the first one and I have four of the gorgeous brand new Smoky Stories Eyeshadow Quads to show you, in Grey and Night, Good Nude, Over Rose and Rock This Khaki.
The idea behind Bourjois’ Quad Smoky Stories eyeshadows is that each palette has four complimentary shades that blend effortlessly together to create the perfect smoky eye, also, the lightest shade has an integrated base primer to prolong colour for 12 hour hold, which is super handy. The palettes are the perfect compact size that will easily fit in any makeup bag, and Bourjois even give full instructions on how to use them –
Smoky Eye Masterclass!
The double-ended applicator makes applying easy; a soft foam tip to blend and a precise tip to contour & define.
1. PRIME with the lightest shade: apply over entire eyelid to prolong colour
2. SHADOW with the medium shade: blend into the outer corner of the eye
3. DEFINE with the darkest shade: trace along the upper lash line and sweep into the socket
4. HIGHLIGHT with the glitter: lightly dab onto the inner corner of the eye and under the brow bone to illuminate the eye
First up is the Grey and Night palette, this has a cool grey theme with shades from dark grey to white and the highlighter in this palette is a lovely sparkly silver. All the shadows in this palette gave excellent colour payoff, and if you’re not a fan of coloured eyeshadows this could be the perfect palette for you! The highlighter is quite sheer with large particles of glitter that really catch the light. I think this shade could be prone to fall out simply due to the large glitter but if you’re careful you shouldn’t have a problem.
Next is Good Nude, this palette includes three neutral brown shades with a silver glitter highlighter. This is the perfect palette if you like easy to wear brown shades, and again I have no complaints, the shades all have a satin finish and are super easy to apply and work with. The silver highlight is the same at the Grey and Night palette too.
Next is Over Rose, this has pink toned taupe shades with a light pink glitter highlighter. This palette is my personal favourite, I love how these shades are muted to make them really wearable, yet still pink so it’s a nice alternative to brown. The highlighter in this palette has a light pink tone to it and is slightly iridescent, it really looks beautiful when it catches the light!
And lastly we have Rock This Khaki, this palette includes three muted green shadows with a very light green glitter highlighter. Again the shades are all a lovely muted green making them easy to wear, the shadows have a lovely smooth consistency that’s perfect to work with, and I love the glittery green highlight, I think this would look great on brown eyes!
Overall I’m super impressed with all of these palettes – apart from the potential glitter fall out of the highlighters, the shades are all perfect for every day wear, they’re pigmented, easy to blend, and all housed in the perfect sized compact, I’d highly recommend these as a staple in anyone’s makeup bag!
The Smoky Stories Palettes are available from for £7.99 (and they currently have a three for two offer on too!) and there are eight palettes to choose from.
I hope you enjoyed my review! xxx
