I Heart Makeup by Makeup Revolution – New Division | Overview!

Posted on June 23, 2014

Hi Guys!

So today I have another  post for you! These guys have been very busy bees! They’ve just gone and launched a whole new division to their brand called . I Heart Makeup can be found on the Makeup Revolution site, (link on the far right of the home page). I heart Makeup is described as ‘fast fashion makeup’ so from this alone I would expect frequent new products, exciting launches and of course the high quality and fab prices I’m used to from Makeup Revolution!

The I Heart Makeup range includes lip glosses, lipsticks, blush, bronzer, highlighter and a large selection of eyeshadow palettes. Prices are similar to Makeup Revolution with lipsticks and glosses being the cheapest priced at £2.49. The product themes are very ‘now’ with the ‘Slogan’ palette rage of four different eyeshadow palettes including names such as #Selfie and No Photos Please. There is also another range of four palettes called the ‘Wonder Palettes’ which includes two chocolate themed palettes and two heart themed palettes.

The whole range of cosmetics is all very fun and non serious! And sometimes that’s exactly what makeup should be! There’s also heart shaped lipsticks, and heart shaped bronzers and highlighters – very cute!

So I’ve included a few images below to whet your appetite, and I have a couple of products to review which will be on the blog by the end of the week! If you’re interested in Makeup Revolution products, I also have an eyeshadow palette review and purple edit review you should check out!

Makeup Revolution What You Waiting For? Eyeshadow Palette | Review

Posted on June 22, 2014

makeup revolution

Hi Guys!

Today I have a review of one of the awesome new products from Makeup Revolution! If you haven’t heard of Makeup revolution they’re a brand new makeup company taking the beauty world by storm! They’ve only been up and running since March and already have over 300 products on offer from only £1!

I have the What You Waiting For? Salvation Eyeshadow Palette. This is one of five, brand new and limited edition palettes! The packaging is clean and slick looking, with a glossy black finish and gold lettering. And at £6 for 18 eyeshadows, this couldn’t really be much cheaper! 33p per eyeshadow is a pretty good deal really!

If you were to purchase all the palettes in this collection, it would cost you just £30. Just think about it, £30 for NINETY eyeshadows! WOW!

Anyway, let’s get back on track! Each Salvation palette consists of 12 complimentary shimmer shades and 6 matte shades. The shadows in the What You Waiting For? palette are all easy-to-wear, neutral colours. I also love that all the shadows are named, which is often not the case with budget cosmetics. The Gwen Stefani theme gets a big thumbs up from me!

Now on to some swatches! The shimmer shadows are simply fabulous. I cannot fault them. I sat round my mums house photographing and then swatching the palette, and as soon as I felt the smoothness of the eyeshadows I literally said ‘Wow!’ out loud, and had to show my mum! The shimmers at gorgeous, pigmented and super buttery soft. I think my preconceptions of budget makeup made my expectations on the low side. But once again Makeup Revolution have impressed me! (I have another purple themed Makeup Revolution review post if you want to check that out!)

Here are some swatches of the first row of shadows – I’m afraid my pictures don’t express just how pigmented these are!

The second row of shimmer shadows probably contains my favourites out of this palette, I’m in love with Scary Conversation (gold) and Now It’s Only Me (light nude pink) These really caught my eye as they’re so shimmery, they have almost a metallic finish!

The matte shadows I have to say were not as exciting as the shimmers, they were slightly on the chalky side but they still weren’t bad at all!

I am so impressed with this palette, and it’s only £6! I can’t believe it! I would definitely highly recommend it! So what do you think? Will you be snapping up one of the Salvation Palettes?

I hope you enjoyed my post!

Wantable June Makeup Box | Review

wantable makeup june

Hi Guys!

It’s that time again! I’m a bit late with my Wantable review this month due to my birthday, so I’m now trying to catch up with my posts 🙂 This month’s Wantable makeup box included a lipstick, blush and highlighter duo, pressed powder and eyeliner gel.

How does it work? If you haven’t seen my other reviews, I’ll give you a quick rundown. With Wantable you firstly choose your category (makeup, accessories or intimates) then answer some questions so they know which styles you like, and which you don’t like. You can then subscribe for $36 (£21.16) a month or $40 (£23.51) for a one off box – it’s also handy to know you can skip a box or cancel your subscription at any time.

mirabella lipstick review

First up is the Mirabella Lip Colour in Nude ($22)

Rich, high-pigmented fashion shades go on smoothly and stay put.

Good points: This is a gorgeous neutral pink colour which would be great for every day wear. It’s creamy and moisturising but not completely opaque. I imagine this will be one of my go-to pink lipsticks this summer!

Not so good points: None.

tara tarantino cream blush

tara tarantino dollskin swatch

Tara Tarantino Dollskin Creme Blush in Mr. Pink ($28.00)

This exquisite blush duo blends effortlessly on your cheeks with the subtle glisten of Sparklicity, now in powder form! This velvety cream to powder blush formulation acts as a magnet for Sparklicity powder giving long lasting fantastic results which leaving skin moisturised and healthy looking.

Good points: The creme blush is a great consistency, it looks bright but it can we worn very sheer and can be built up. The packaging also feels high quality.

Not so good points: The glitter in the shimmer section is made of very large particles, I’m afraid wouldn’t use this.

vicent longo pressed powder

Vincent Longo Pressed Face Powder in Golden Banana ($28.00)

One of the softest, lightest weight powders available in a compact form. By triple milling the powder and using real silk fibres, the powder becomes ultra fine and smooth to the touch. Blends completely into foundation and concealer leaving no residue for a totally invisible finish. Absorbs surface oils and sets foundation to maintain a smooth matte finish through out the day.

Good points: The powder is very finely milled making it velvety soft. The finish isn’t completely translucent and it gives a slight colour which is quite fair.

Not so good points: None.

ofra fixline eyeliner gel

Ofra Fixline Eyeliner Gel ($14.99)

This eyeliner gel provides a fine line without flakes or cracking. Long wearing and smudge resistant.

Good points: The colour is a deep, pigmented black, and it it easy to apply.

Not so good points: I think it’s mainly due to my eyeliner brush being too thick, but I did find this product difficult to create a fine line. I’ve had other gel eyeliners which have been solid in a glass jar, whereas this was wet and kind of runny, I’m not really a fan of this formula but maybe I’m just not used to it!.

Well overall this is another good box, worth a total of $92.99 (54.66) it hasn’t been the best but I’m really happy with the lipstick and pressed powder, these will definitely get used! I hope you enjoyed my review xx

A Summer Look with La Prairie and YSL

Posted on June 20, 2014

Hi Guys!

I’ve put together a quick and easy summer look today using some fab products kindly sent to me from . I have the La Prairie Cellular Treatment Bronzing Powder and Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat which I will be using to create a bronzed summery look!

The La Prairie Cellular Treatment Bronzing Powder is an outstanding combination of colour and care. It gives your complexion a golden glow, or enhances a natural tan, while pampering and protecting your skin.

On first glance this product is stunning, I opened the box to find a dark blue velvet pouch embossed with the La Prairie logo, inside was the silver mirror finish compact. It doesn’t get more luxury than that!

The bronzing powder is an intense warm deep gold, with a high shimmer finish. I thought it might be too dark for my fair skin tone but when I tried it I absolutely loved it! The powder is finely milled and easily buildable.

Described as a magic pen brush by its creators, YSL Touche Eclat blends with the skin to diffuse light under the eye creating a sense of radiance. Ideal for touch ups, this concealer blends into makeup already on the face and is ideal for banishing under eye shadows and hiding signs of fatigue around the mouth and nose area. Touche Eclat is a top end product at a stunning price and shade No.1 is pale pink for fair to light olive skin. The iconic gold case slips easily into any bag or pocket so you’re always at your best wherever you go. Touche Eclat is suitable for all skin types.

The Yves Saint Laurent Touch Eclat is an old favourite of mine, it’s an excellent tool to cover up any unwanted blemishes or under eye dark circles. I went for the lightest shade – 01, with the idea that I would use it as a concealer and highlighter.

So here goes my look! 😀

I started off with a light to medium coverage BB cream base – I want this look to give a natural glowing finish so a heavy coverage base is not what I wanted. I used my Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette on the eyes and my new favourite eyeliner, the Maybelline Master Precision Eyeliner Pen. I finished the eyes with Benefit They’re Real Mascara.

I then applied the Touche Eclat to brighten under the eye area, down the bridge of the nose and in the centre of my forehead. The Touche Eclat does not give a fully opaque finish, which is actually not a bad thing as you can easily blend it into the skin and this also works well for me as I want this look to be quite natural rather than highly contoured. The bronzer was applied around the hairline, under the cheekbones, down the sides of the nose, and lightly dusted over the face, chest and shoulders. You can probably see I like to add bronzer down the sides of my nose to help it appear slimmer! I also added a bit under my nose, under my chin and along the jaw line. I have a long face so this helps to make it appear shorter.

On the lips I used MAC Pedro Lourenco Lipstick in Peach Beige and Gold Mirror lipgloss (from the same collection) on top. These are such gorgeous nude colours!

Oh and also I threw one of my favourite wigs on, from Hothair!

And then I just blended the bronzer in and ta da! Here is my finished look, wink wink! What do you think?

I’d love to hear which bronzers and highlighters you use?

I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx

Warning! Sephora Fees! (Oh and a Sephora Haul)

Posted on June 19, 2014

Hi Guys!

So I’ve had my eye on a few awesome looking products lately and decided to purchase a couple of bits from Sephora as a treat for my birthday. I’m really happy with what I got, but not so happy about the price…

  • Anastasia Beverley Hills Contour Kit – $40
  • Tarte Discover The amazon 3 Piece Kit – $34.50
  • Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Violet – $21
  • Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Coral – $21
  • Makeup Forever Happy Birthday Mini Kit – Free
  • Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Deep Matte Bronzer mini – Free
  • Caudiale Premier Cru The Cream sample – Free
  • Vita Liberata pHenomenal 2-3 Week Tan Lotion sample – Free

Order total – £73.44

Shipping and Handling – £16.38

Taxes and Duties – £16.26

Total – £106.06

Now I’ve put all the prices on here for you because I want to make a point. I was so happy when I saw the The Too faced Melted Lipsticks at Sephora for the equivalent of £12.32, as they’re £19 in the UK. I felt like I was getting a great deal. Most things are cheaper in the US compared to the UK so I was a happy bunny! I understood there would be shipping and handling fees, but I didn’t realise there was also a taxes and duties charge until it was too late. I think I got a bit mixed up because it was a very similar price to the shipping, so I think I thought it was the same thing, if that makes sense! In the end my order came to over £100, with over £30 of it spent on fees, boo hoo! What’s done is done, and I am really happy with what I got, I just wanted to point this out as a warning when purchasing from Sephora, just beware and keep an eye on the charges!

I’ll be reviewing everything in the coming weeks!

I hope this post was helpful! xx

(Update – so apparently I’m a complete twit, I’ve just been told if I’d have spent £75 on my order, then my shipping would have only been £6! Oh well at least I know now!)

Birthday Fun at the Seaside!

Posted on June 18, 2014

Hi Guys!

Well I’m now officially over the hill 30! Blimey where has the time gone! It was my birthday on Thursday and it just so happened to also be my little boy Fred’s 3rd birthday too! My other half took me for a fancy meal at The Fox and Goose in Fressingfield the evening before – seriously, if you’re ever in this neck of the woods, you must go there, the food is amazing.

And on Thursday we had planned to go to the local Zoo but at the last minute changed our minds as the weather was so lovely, so we decided to go to the seaside instead!

We spent the day in Southwold, and it was such a great day! We doused Fred in sun cream and he ran around on the beach and paddled in the water. Ollie told me when he was a similar age to Fred his mum covered him in sun cream on the beach, and he had a tantrum and threw himself down on the sand. He came up looking like a scotch egg 😀

We stayed on the beach for a while making sandcastles and searching for pretty stones and shells. After a pub lunch we left late afternoon to visit my Auntie who had made Fred a surprise birthday cake, a red racing car! He thought it was the best thing ever! I thought I’d also show you one of my favourite gifts at the end of this post – Ollies Auntie is a potter and she made us an amazing personalised bowl with all our names around it, how lovely is that! xxx

Don’t forget to check out my massive birthday giveaway here!

I hope you enjoyed my post 🙂 xxx

A Colourful Look with the Sleek Del Mar Eyeshadow Palette!

Posted on June 17, 2014

Hi Guys!

So you may have seen my post yesterday reviewing some gorgeous Sleek Makeup products, with one of them being the i-Divine Del Mar Volume 1 Eyeshadow Palette – well here is the very colourful look I’ve put together using it! These colours are pretty intense so I’d definitely wear this look with bronzed skin and a nude lip. A neutral colour or black outfit would also make your eyes really stand out!

This is really a pretty straightforward look with On The Rocks (a bright, semi matte orange) in the inner corner of the eye, Balearic Beat (matte lime green) in the centre of the eyelid and Blue Marlin in the crease and brought slightly under the bottom eyelashes. The colours were blended together across the eyelid and I finished the look using Maybelline Eye Studio Master Precise Eyeliner Pen and Benefit They’re Real Mascara.

So what do you think? Do you like this look or is it a bit too much colour for you? I’d love to hear yur thoughts!? xxx
