Sugarpill are a US based niche makeup company offering a cruelty-free line of vibrant, richly pigmented cosmetics. At the moment they specialise in eye makeup only. I hope one day will start selling lipsticks and glosses too!
I love bright colours so as soon as I saw these Sugarpill palettes I had to get them, I’ve never before seen eyeshadows in such bright vibrant colours. I have to say, they really do live up to the hype!
This is the outer packaging: The palette comes in a box with a cute design on it, and the palette itself has a black satiny finish with the Sugarpill logo, it feels sturdy, quite heavy and of good quality.
When you open the palette there is a good sized mirror on the inside which is always a , I hate when you get a palette without a mirror. There are no brushes included, which I think is a good thing, it’s always disappointing when you buy a good quality palette to find they have included naff sponge ended applicators! The eyeshadow pans are also generously sized, about 3cm across which is a great useable size.
I have the Sweetheart and Burning Heart palettes. The colours are for Sweetheart: Dollipop (matte pink), Afterparty (metallic blue), Midori (metalic green) and Taco (matte white), and for Burning heart: Flamepoint (matte orange), Buttercupcake (matte yellow), Love+ (slight metallic red) and Poison Plum (slight metallic purple).
I used my fingers to take some swatches on the back of my hand, but I seem to have lost the photos somehow! So I just have the photos of the swatches on my finger tips! The finger tip photos actually really give you an idea of the true colour of the shadows. You can really see how richly pigmented the colours are. The colours are easy to blend and you can easily add layers to build up the depth colour. I can’t find any fault with these shadows!
Here are the loose eyeshadows I have: Goldilux, (Brilliant, highly-reflective metallic gold with breathtaking shine, the brightest gold you’ve ever seen) Magpie (Dramatic silky black with metallic blue sheen and turquoise sparkles) Junebug (Luxurious forest green with a burst of diamonds) Lumi (Snow white with turquoise sheen and flashing bursts of blue and green.) The loose pigments all have a metallic finish, they are also very finely milled which means they are a joy to apply and easily manipulated.
I absolutely love Goldilux, it really is the brightest gold! And Lumi is another favourite, it gives a sheer turquoise sparkle, similar to MAC’s Reflects Transparent Teal. You can use this on its own to give a sheer veil of metallic sparkle, or over another shadow to create your own look.
More loose eyeshadows: Starling (Vibrant, metallic turquoise with intense sheen.) Darling (Stunning teal loaded with iridescent turquoise star bursts.) Royal Sugar (Striking bright blue with a heavenly burst of turquoise diamonds.)
I have some photos of a look I did with the loose eyeshadows but the pictures came out very dark and you really can’t see very well unfortunately. So I’ve found a picture from Halloween when I originally bought the palettes, I used Dollipop and Taco from the Sweetheart palette, spooky hey!
